두꺼운 링의 고유진동 해석 (Natural Vibration Analysis of Thick Rings)

  • In this paper, we have systematically formulated the equations concerned to the in-plane and out-of-plane motions and deformations of a thick circular beam by using the kinetic and strain energies in order to analyse natural frequencies of a thick ring. The effects of variation of radius of curvature across the cross-section and also the effects of bending shear, extension and twist are considered. The equations of motion for natural vibration analysis of a ring are obtained utilizing the cyclic symmetry of vibration modes of the ring. The frequencies calculated using thick ring model and thin ring model are compared and discussed with the ones obtained from finite element analysis using the method of cyclic symmetry with 20-node hexahedral solid elements for rings with the different ratio of radial thickness to mean radius.

Nonlinear Dynamical Friction of a Circular-orbit Perturber in a Uniform Gaseous Medium

  • We use three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations to investigate nonlinear gravitational responses of gas to, and the resulting drag force on, a massive perturber moving on a circular orbit through a uniform gaseous medium. We assume that the background medium is non-rotating and adiabatic with index 5/3, and represent the perturber using a Plummer potential with softening radius a. This work extends our previous study where we showed that the drag force on a straight-line trajectory is proportional to a0.45 if the perturber is massive enough. This indicates that the orbital decay of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) near galaxy centers may take much longer than the prediction of the linear force formula applicable for low-mass perturbers. For the circular orbits are considered, however, we find that the nonlinear drag force becomes independent of a, but dependent instead on the orbital radius R as $\varpropto$ R0.5. This suggests not only that the choices of large values of a, for resolution issues, in recent numerical experiments for mergers of SMBH, are marginally acceptable, but also that the gaseous drag indeed provides an efficient mean for the orbtial decay of SMBHs.

  • 본 연구는 맥동류의 진동 속도가 평균 유속에 비하여 매우 작은 경우로서 Re- ynolbs수가 40 이하 층류유동에 관한 것이다. 부력은 무시하고 비압축성의 점성유체 에 관한 비정상 Navier-Stokes 방정식과 에너지방정식의 선형 섭동방정식을 구하고, 진동성분의 복소진폭을 수치적으로 풀어서 저항력과 함께 열전달 응답의 진폭과 위상 을 구하였다.

소아 요골 원위부 불안정 골절의 캐스트 후 안정성에 영향을 미치는 요소 (Risk Factors in Stability after Immobilization of the Distal Radius in Unstable Fractures in Children)

  • 목적: 소아 요골 원위부 골절은 가장 흔한 골절이면서 불안정 골절의 경우 정복 후에도 재전위 위험성이 높아 주의가 요망된다. 이러한 재전위에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대하여 평가해 보고자 한다. 대상 및 방법: 2011년 2월부터 2018년 6월까지 완전 전위된 소아 요골 원위부 불안정 골절로 본원 외래에서 보존적 치료한 6세에서 14세까지의 환자들을 대상으로 후향적 연구를 하였다. 전체 대상 환자 44예 중 재전위된 환자들에서 연령, 성별, 석고 지표, 간격 지표, 3점 고정 지표, 골절면 경사도, 관절면에서 골절선까지 거리를 환산한 골절 높이 비, 요골-제2 중수골 각도 등을 측정하여 마지막 골유합 상태에서 남은 각형성의 정도로 결과를 평가하여 비교를 하였다. 결과: 평균 9.2도(0-32.8도) 각형성이 남았으며 범주 내의 결과를 기준으로 하여 10도 미만이 29예, 10도 이상이 15예로 확인되었다. 정복 후 재전위가 발생한 군과 대조군 사이에 평가된 요소들 중 석고 지표들은 두 군 간에 차이가 없었다. 연령, 성별에서도 군 간에 차이가 없었고, 골절면 경사도, 요골-제2 중수골 각도도 차이가 없었다. 관절면에서 골절선까지의 거리를 환산한 골절 높이 비가 가장 의미 있는 안정요소로 평가되었고(p=0.001) 척골 골절이 동반된 경우도 불안정한 요소로 평가되었다(p=0.019). 결론: 소아 요골 간단부 완전 전위 골절, 특히 요골 골간단-골간 이행부의 골절의 경우 불안정한 골절로 평가되므로 좀 더 주의가 필요하며 충분한 재형성을 기대하기 어려운 연령에서는 만족스러운 결과를 위하여 수술적 치료가 선호될 수 있다.

6MV Photon Beam Commissioning in Varian 2300C/D with BEAM/EGS4 Monte Carlo Code

  • The Monte Carlo simulation method is a numerical solution to a problem that models objects interacting with other objects or their environment based upon simple object-object or object-environment relationships. In spite of its great accuracy, It was turned away because of long calculation time to simulate a model. But, it is used to simulate a linear accelerator frequently with the advance of computer technology. To simulate linear accelerator in Monte Carlo simulations, there are many parameters needed to input to Monte Carlo code. These data can be supported by a linear accelerator manufacturer. Although the model of a linear accelerator is the same, a different characteristic property can be found. Thus, we performed a commissioning process of 6MV photon beam in Varian 2300C/D model with BEAM/EGS4 Monte Carlo code. The head geometry data were put into BEAM/EGS4 data. The mean energy and energy spread of the electron beam incident on the target were varied to match Monte Carlo simulations to measurements. TLDs (thermoluminescent dosimeter) and radiochromic films were employed to measure the absorbed dose in a water phantom. Beam profile was obtained in 40cm${\times}$40cm field size and Depth dose was in 10cm${\times}$10cm. At first, we compared the depth dose between measurements and Monte Carlo simulations varying the mean energy of an incident electron beam. Then, we compared the beam profile with adjusting the beam radius of the incident electron beam in Monte Carlo simulation. The results were found that the optimal mean energy was 6MV and beam radius of 0.1mm was well matched to measurements.

The importance of corner sharpness in the BARC test case: A numerical study

  • The BARC flow is studied via Direct Numerical Simulation at a relatively low turbulent Reynolds number, with focus on the geometrical representation of the leading-edge (LE) corners. The study contributes to further our understanding of the discrepancies between existing numerical and experimental BARC data. In a first part, rounded LE corners with small curvature radii are considered. Results show that a small amount of rounding does not lead to abrupt changes of the mean fields, but that the effects increase with the curvature radius. The shear layer separates from the rounded LE at a lower angle, which reduces the size of the main recirculating region over the cylinder side. In contrast, the longitudinal size of the recirculating region behind the trailing edge (TE) increases, as the TE shear layer is accelerated. The effect of the curvature radii on the turbulent kinetic energy and on its production, dissipation and transport are addressed. The present results should be contrasted with the recent work of Rocchio et al. (2020), who found via implicit Large-Eddy Simulations at larger Reynolds numbers that even a small curvature radius leads to significant changes of the mean flow. In a second part, the LE corners are fully sharp and the exact analytical solution of the Stokes problem in the neighbourhood of the corners is used to locally restore the solution accuracy degraded by the singularity. Changes in the mean flow reveal that the analytical correction leads to streamlines that better follow the corners. The flow separates from the LE with a lower angle, resulting in a slightly smaller recirculating region. The corner-correction approach is valuable in general, and is expected to help developing high-quality numerical simulations at the high Reynolds numbers typical of the experiments with reasonable meshing requirements.

  • Tall buildings are often subjected to steady and unsteady forces due to external wind flows. Measurement and mitigation of these forces becomes critical to structural design in engineering applications. Over the last few decades, many approaches such as modification of the external geometry of structures have been investigated to mitigate wind-induced load. One such proven geometric modification involved the rounding of sharp corners. In this work, we systematically analyze the impact of rounded corner radii on the reducing the flow-induced loading on a square cylinder. We perform 3-Dimensional (3D) simulations for high Reynolds number flows (Re=1 × 105) which are more likely to be encountered in practical applications. An Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation (IDDES) method capable of capturing flow accurately at large Reynolds numbers is employed in this study. The IDDES formulation uses a k-ω Shear Stress Transport (SST) model for near-wall modelling that prevents mesh-induced separation of the boundary layer. The effects of these corner modifications are analyzed in terms of the resulting variations in the mean and fluctuating components of the aerodynamic forces compared to a square cylinder with no geometric changes. Plots of the angular distribution of the mean and fluctuating coefficient of pressure along the square cylinder's surface illustrate the effects of corner modifications on the different parts of the cylinder. The windward corner's separation angle was observed to decrease with an increase in radius, resulting in a narrower and longer recirculation region. Furthermore, with an increase in radius, a reduction in the fluctuating lift, mean drag, and fluctuating drag coefficients has been observed.

곡선부 주행 차량의 마모특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wear Characteristics of R/S Passing through Curves)

  • 곡선통과 새마을호 열차의 마모 특성을 평가하기 위하여 다량 편성 해석모델이 사용된다. 이 모델과 ADAMS/Rail를 사용하여 마모 특성과 관련된 변수의 변화에 따른 민감도 해석이 수행된다. 저속에서 우측 차륜의 마모도와 미끄럼도가 좌측 차륜보다 높으나, 고속의 경우는 좌측 차륜이 우측 차륜보다 높다. 곡선반경의 감소에 따라 마모도와 미끄럼도가 증가한다. 완화곡선의 길이가 증가하련 마모도와 미끄럼도가 증가한다. 또한 캔트가 증가하면 마모도와 미끄럼도가 증가한다.

분위기 조건이 직접 분사식 가솔린 분무의 발달 과정 및 미립화 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of ambient conditions on the spray development and atomization characteristics of a gasoline spray injected through a direct injection system)

  • This paper presents the effects of ambient pressure on atomization characteristics of high-Pressure injector in a direct injection gasoline engine both experimentally and numerically. The atomization characteristics such as mean droplet size, mean velocity, and velocity distribution were measured by phase Doppler particle analyzer. The spray development, spray penetration, and global spray structure were visualized using a shadowgraph technique. In order to investigate the atomization process numerically, the LISA-DDB hybrid model was utilized. This breakup model assumes that the primary breakup occurs when the amplitude of the unstable waves is equal to the radius of the ligament of liquid sheet near the nozzle and the droplet deformation induces the secondary breakup. The results provide the effect of ambient pressure on the macroscopic and microscopic behaviors such as spray development, spray penetration, mean droplet size, and mean velocity distribution. It is also revealed that the accuracy of prediction of LISA-DDB hybrid model is pretty good in terms of spray developing process, spray tip penetration, and SMD distribution.

노즐 형상 및 분사 압력이 하이브리드 노즐 성능에 미치는 영향 연구 (Effect of Nozzle Shape and Injection Pressure on Performance of Hybrid Nozzle)

  • 본 하이브리드 노즐은 국부 지점에 집중적으로 분사하기 위해 소화 약제 주위로 워터미스트를 분사하여 커튼과 같이 약제를 가두어 목표 지점에 살포함으로써 소화 성능이 제고 된다. 본 연구에서는 수치해석 연구를 통해 노즐 기단 각 및 워터미스트 노즐 분사 압력이 하이브리드 노즐 성능에 미치는 영향을 워터미스트 및 소화 약제 액적의 평균 분포 반경을 기반으로 정량적으로 비교 분석 하였다. 워터미스트 노즐 실험 결과를 이용하여 수치해서 기법의 타당성을 검증하였으며, 유동장 내 액적 간 충돌, 병합 및 깨짐 등의 거동을 고려하기 위해 정상상태 2-way interaction Discrete Particle Modeling (DPM) 해석을 수행하였다. 분사 압력이 30 bar에서 60 bar로 증가함에 따라 워터미스트 액적의 평균 분포 반경은 약 40 % 감소하는 반면에 소화 약제의 평균 액적 분포 반경은 약 21 % 감소하였다. 또한 기단 각이 $30^{\circ}$에서 $60^{\circ}$로 2배 증가하였을 때 소화 약제의 평균 분포 반경은 약 24 % 증가하였다. 결과적으로 하이브리드 노즐은 워터미스트를 분사를 통해 내부에 분사된 소화 약제를 국부지점 집중적으로 분사하는 데 목적이 있으므로 소화 약제 액적의 평균 분포 반경을 고려하여 워터미스트 분사 압력과 기단 각의 설계가 중요할 것으로 판단된다.
