복합재료 동력전달축의 접착조인트 설계 (Design of Adhesive Joints for Composite Propeller Shafts)

  • Substituting composite structures for conventional metallic structures has many advantages because of higher specific stiffness and specific strength of composite materials. In this work, one-piece propeller shafts composed of carbonfepoxy and glass/epoxy composites were designed and manufactured for a rear wheel drive automobile satisfying three design specifications, such as static torque transmission capability, torsional buckling and the fundamental natural bending frequency. Single lap adhesively bonded joint was employed to join the composite shaft and the aluminum yoke. For the optimal adhesive joining of the composite propeller shaft to the aluminum yoke, the torque transmission capability of the adhesively bonded composite shaft was calculated with respect to bonding length and yoke thickness by finite element method and compared with the experimental result. Then an optimal design method was proposed based on the failure model which incorporated the nonlinear mechanical behavior of aluminum yoke and epoxy adhesive. From the experiments and FEM analyses, it was found that the static torque transmission capability of composite propeller shaft was maximum at the critical yoke thickness, and it saturated beyond the critical length. Also, it was found that the one-piece composite propeller shaft had 40% weight saving effect compared with a two-piece steel propeller shaft.

Treatment of non-resonant spatial self-shielding effect of double heterogeneous region

  • A new approximation method was proposed for treating the non-resonant spatial self-shielding effects of double heterogeneous region such as the double heterogeneous effect of VHTR fuel compact in the thermal energy range and that of BP compact with BISO. The method was developed based on the effective homogenization method and a spherical unit cell model with explicit coated layers and a matrix layer. The self-shielding factor was derived from the relation between the collision probabilities for a double heterogeneous compact and the effective cross section for the homogenized compact. First, the collision probabilities and transmission probabilities for all layers of the spherical model were calculated using conventional collision probability solver. Then, the effective cross section for the homogenized sphere cell representing the homogenized compact was obtained from the transmission probability calculated using the probability density function of a chord length. The verification calculations revealed that the proposed method can predict the self-shielding factor with a maximum error of 2.3% and the double heterogeneous effect with a maximum error of 200 pcm in the typical VHTR problems with various packing fractions and BP compact sizes.

  • Wave overtopping is one of the most important hydraulic responses of breakwater because it significantly affects its functional efficiency, the safety of transit and mooring on the rear side, wave transmission in the sheltered area, rear side armor stones and to some extent, the structural safety itself. The hydrodynamic characteristics of low crest breakwater by the overtopping rate can be summarized as follows: 1. It is better to use maximum overtopping rate than to use mean overtopping rate for design of coastal structures. 2. Maximum overtopping rate was increase with wave steepness (between 0.01 and 0.02). 3. Overtopping rate is decreased when relation length of berm was over wave length.

In this study, hydraulic model tests has been carried out to investigate the influence of berm's size on overtopping rate by maximum overtopping rate and mean overtopping rate. The hydrodynamic characteristics of berm breakwater by the overtopping rate can be summarized as follows: 1. It is better to use maximum overtopping rate than to use mean overtopping rate for design of coastal structures in the point of view of stability. 2. When construct berm to decrease energy of waves that it was needed to make breaking conditions of wave on the berm. 3. Under the relative length of berm was over 0.13 overtopping rate was significantly decreased. 4. Overtopping rate affected significantly by the relative length of yhe berm than height of the berm.

  • Speech intelligibility is investigated on a conference room-window glass coupled system. Using MLS(Maximum Length Sequency) signal as a sound source, acceleration and velocity responses of the window glass are measured by accelerometer and laser doppler vibrometer. MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) is used to identify the speech transmission characteristics of the room and window system. STI(Speech Transmission Index) is calculated by using MTF and speech intelligibility of the room and the window glass is estimated. Speech intelligibilities by the acceleration signal and the velocity signal are compared and the possibility of the wiretapping is investigated. Finally, intelligibility of the conversation sound is examined by the subjective test.

  • Kinematic and dynamic characteristics of a Stewart platform based parallel manipulators are fixed once they are constructed. Thus parallel manipulators with various configurations are required to meet a variety of applications. In this research a parallel manipulator with variable platform (PMVP) has been developed, in which the length of the arm linking the platform center to the platform-leg contact point can be varied by an actuator. The workspace of the PMVP is larger than that of a traditional Stewart platform and especially the range in which the maximum orientation angles can be maintained is significantly expanded. Furthermore, the characteristics of force and moment transmission between the legs and platform can be adjusted to meet the requirements of various tasks. Kinematic and dynamics analysis was performed to verify the usefulness of the PMVP and the actual hardware was built to demonstrate the feasibility.

  • Proposed in this paper is an algorithm in which the maximum value of transmission delay due to collision during the reservation request minicell transmission in the uplink period is guaranteed for each traffic type in order to support real time multimedia traffic in wireless ATM environment. Also proposed is a scheme that uses minislots in which dynamic parameters can be transmitted without collision by using only 1-bit piggyback flag of each cell. Setting the piggyback flag is determined according to traffic characteristics and buffer length of each mobile terminal. It is shown that there has been a great improvement in performance of the proposed algorithm through performance analysis using simulation although the algorithm has little overhead.

  • 최근 장비에 부착된 센서들이 네트워크를 통해 실시간으로 현장 정보를 전송하고 처리하여 장비를 제어하는 과정을 자동으로 수행하는 IoT 환경에 대한 연구가 다방면으로 진행되고 있다. 이러한 시스템의 핵심은 데이터 송수신을 위한 네트워크가 필수적인데 넓은 전송 거리를 가진 유선 네트워크가 우선 선택이 된다. 하지만 유선 네트워크의 경우 통신을 구성하기위해 소모되는 시간과 비용이 무선 보다 높은 문제가 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 LPWA와 BLE 통신을 이용한 LPWA 기반 산업현장의 무선 데이터 전송 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 BLE를 통해 장비로부터 데이터를 수집하고 LPWA를 이용하여 서버로 데이터를 전송하는 시스템이다. 실험결과 LPWA로 전송할 수 있는 최대 길이의 확산인자(Spreading Factor)는 8인 것을 확인하였으며, 최소 길이에 대한 Spreading Factor는 9인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

엑츄에이터를 이용한 송전철탑의 1/2 축소부분실험 (Half-Scaled Substructure Test of a Transmission Tower Using Actuators)

  • In this paper, a half-scaled substructure test was performed to evaluate the buckling and structural safety of an existing transmission tower subjected to wind load. A loading scheme was devised to reproduce the dead and wind loads of a prototype transmission tower, which uses a triangular jig that is mounted on the reduced model to which the similarity law of a half length was applied. As a result of the preliminary numerical analysis carried out to evaluate the stability of a specimen for the design load, it was confirmed that the calculated axial forces of tower leg members were distributed to $80{\sim}90%$ of an admissible buckling load. When the substructured transmission tower was loaded by 270% of its maximum admissible buckling load, it was failed due to the local buckling that is occurred in joints with weak constraints for out-of-plane behavior of leg members. By inspection of load-displacement curves, displacements and strains of members, it is considered that this local buckling was due to additional eccentric force by unbalanced deformation because the time that is reached to yielding stress due to the bending moment is different at each point of a same section.
