All of the Cerec specimen were finished with sequential use of high speed diamond burs(grit 45, 30 and $15{\mu}m$). The groups were divided into 5 groups : Group I : Cerec Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Sof-lex discs. Group II : Cerce Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Two Striper MPS. Group III : Cerce Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Enhance. Group IV : Cerce Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Porcelain laminate polishing FG kit. Group V : Vintage enamel porcelain glazed by high temperature glazing Technique. Each group was consisted of 10 specimens. The surfaces produced were examined quantitatively using a laser specular reflectance machine(Perthen RM600-s, Feinpruf Perthen GmbH., Germany) and qualitatively under SEM(JSM-5400, JEOL, Japan). The Results were as follows : 1. The arithmetic mean roughness value(Ra) in groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 was higher than that of group5. There was statistically significant difference(P<0.05). 2. The arithmetic mean roughness value(Ra) decreased in the following orders : group 1, group 2, group 4, group 3 and there was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and group 2, group 3, and group 4. There was statistically significant difference among group 1, 2, and group 3, 4 and group 5(P<0.05). 3. The maximum individual peak-to-valley-height(Rmax) decreased in the following orders : group 2, group 1, group 4, group 3, group 5 and there was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and 2, group 1 and group 4, group 3 and group 5. There was statistically significant difference among group 1, 2, and group 1, 4 and group 3, 5(P<0.05). 4. This Study has treated the effects of fiber, surfactants, temperature, surfactant concentration, pH, electrolyte, fatty acid contents and mechanical force on the removal of particulate soil from fabric, vacuum cleaner dirt was used as model particulate soil. The fabrics were soiled with mixture of vacuum cleaner dirt and fatty soil, and washed in Terg-O-tometer. The detergency was evaluated by measuring reflectance of a fabric before and after washing. The results were as follows. 1. The fiber type showed a different pattern of soil removal with surfactants. In general, particulate soil removal increased in the following order Acetate>PET. Nylon>Cotton. Particulate soil removal, which is affected by the surfactant type, increased in the following order NPE $(EO)_{10}\leqq$Soap>SLS>DBS>Tween 80. 2. The influence of temperature on the particulate soil removal was very complex because efficiency of removal was varied with surfactant and fiber types. The washing efficiency of NPE $(EO)_{10}$ was highest at around $40^{\circ}C\;and\;60^{\circ}C$ with cotton and PET but the washing efficiency of DBS was the highest at $60^{\circ}C$ with cotton, decreased monotonously with increasing temperature with PET 3. The detergency of particulate soil increased with increasing surfactant concentration at relatively low concentration and then levelled off above some optimum concentration. 4. The removal of particulate soil increased with increasing pH and mechanical force. 5. Effect of electrolyte on the particulate soil removal was depended on the concentration of the surfactant. At low concentration of surfactant, addition of electrolytes improved soil removal but above the some concentration no effect was observed. At high concentration of surfactant, Vie., $0.6\%$ , the maximum washing effect is reached without added electrolyte. These result indicate that added electrolyte only influence the adsorption of surfactant on the soil and fiber 6. Fatty acid content in the soil did not influence on particulate soil removal without regard to surfactants.

The interdigitated germanium (Ge) meta-lsemiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetectors (PDs) with and without an $SiO_2$ anti-reflection (AR) layer was fabricated, and the effect of $SiO_2$ AR layer on their optoelectronic response properties were investigated in detail. The lowest reflectance of 15.6% at the wavelength of 1550 nm was obtained with a $SiO_2$ AR layer with a thickness of 260 nm, which was in a good agreement with theoretically calculated film thickness for minimizing the reflection of Ge surface. The Ge MSM PD with 260 nm-thick $SiO_2$ AR layer exhibited enhanced device performance with the maximum values of responsivity of 0.65 A/W, the quantum efficiency of 52.2%, and the detectivity of $2.49{\times}10^9cm\;Hz^{0.5}W^{-1}$ under the light illumination with a wavelength of 1550 nm. Moreover, time-dependent switching analysis of Ge MSM PD with 260 nm- thick $SiO_2$ AR layer showed highest on/off ratio with excellent stability and reproducibility. All this investigation implies that 260 nm-thick $SiO_2$ AR layer, which is effective in the reduction in the reflection of Ge surface, has a great potential for Ge based optoelectronic devices.
This paper predicts 6 facial regions that may have sharply different scattering properties, rendering the face more realistically based on their diffusion profiles. The scattering properties are acquired in the form of high dynamic range by photographing the pattern formed around an unit ray incident on facial skin. The acquired data are fitted to a 'linear combination of Gaussian functions', which well approximates the original diffusion profile of skin and has good characteristics as the filter. During the process, to prevent its solutions from converging into local minima, we take advantage of the genetic algorithm to set up the initial value. Each Gaussian term is applied to the irradiance map as a filter, expressing subsurface scattering effect. In this paper, to efficiently handle the maximum 12 Gaussian filterings, we make use of the parallel capacity of CUDA.
Optical Band-pass Filter(BPF) for the selected wavelength of 4300 nm was designed and fabricated on Si wager by alternately depositing Ge and $SiO_2$ thin layers by an electron beam evaporation technique. The fabricated BPF showed the optical transmittance characteristics of 58.2% with FWHM(Full Width at Half Maximum) of 204 nm at 4300 nm, but showed the transmittance less than 5% due to the reflectance over all the wavelength ranges except 4300 nm band. The $CO_2$ sensitivity of BPF was investigated with the transmittance as a function of $CO_2$ gas concentration using a sensing cell attached to FT-IR instrument. The transmittance of BPF was almost linearly decreased with increasing of $CO_2$ concentration in the range of from 500 to 5000 ppm. The sensing structure using double BPFs showed higher slop of transmittance vs $CO_2$ concentration, and thus higher gas sensitivity than that using a single BPF, even though the former had relatively lower transmittance.
Atmospheric correction as a preprocessing work should be performed to conduct accurately landcover/landuse classification using hyperspectral imagery. Atmospheric correction on airborne hyperspectral images was conducted and then the effect of atmospheric correction by comparing spectral reflectance characteristics before and after atmospheric correction for a few landuse classes was analyzed. In addition, land cover classification was first conducted respectively by the maximum likelihood method and the spectral angle mapper method after atmospheric correction and then the results were compared. Applying the spectral angle mapper method, the sea water area were able to be classified with the minimum of noise at the threshold angle of 4 arc degree. It is considered that object-based classification method, which take into account of scale, spectral information, shape, texture and so forth comprehensively, is more advantageous than pixel-based classification methods in conducting landcover classification of the coastal area with hyperspectral images in which even the same object represents various spectral characteristics.
In this study the optimum dyeing conditions and blocking effect of UV deodorization efficiency of Ligustrum japonicum Thunb were investigated. Colorants were water-extracted from Ligustrum japonicum Thunb fruit and freeze-drided to obtain colorants powder. The effects of dye concentration, dyeing temperature, dyeing time, and the number of dipping count were studied. Fastness to dry cleaning, rubbing, perspiration, and light were measured according to KS K 0644, KS K 0650, KS K 0715 and KS K 0700, respectively. In order to examine the dyeability according to dyeing conditions, reflectance of fabrics were measured by using UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The bath ratio was 1:20. Dyeing concentration was 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500% on the weight of fiber. Dyeing time was 20, 40, 60, and 80 minutes. Dyeing temperature was 20, 40, 60, 80, and $100^{\circ}C$. The infrared high pressure dying machine was used. As dyeing concentration increased, dye adsorption increased up to 400% and it slowed down. Dye uptake was increased with raising themperature up to $80^{\circ}C$ and it slowed down. Dye adsorption occurred rapidly at first 20 minutes and then it slowed down and reached almost maximum dye uptake at 60 min. Dye uptake increased by repeated dyeing. Therefore, it is considered that optimum dyeing condition is 400%(o.w.f.), $80^{\circ}C$, 60 min. And repeated dyeing improves dye uptake. Color fastness to dry cleaning and rubbing was good, but light fastness and perspiration fastness was not good. Blocking effect of ultraviolet radiation and deodorization efficiency was good.
Chlorophyll concentration is an important factor for physical oceanography as well as biological oceanography. For these necessity many oceanographic researchers have been investigated it for a long time. But investigation using vessel is very inefficient, on the other hands, ocean color remote sensing is a powerful means to get fine-scale (spatial and temporal scale) measurements of chlorophyll concentration. Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI), for ocean color sensor, loaded on COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite), will be launched on late 2008 in Korea. According to the necessity of algorithm for GOCI, we developed chlorophyll algorithm for GOCI in this study. There are two types of chlorophyll algorithms. One is an empirical algorithm using band ratio, and the other one is a fluorescence-based algorithms. To develop GOCI chlorophyll algorithm empirically we used bands centered at 412 nm, 443 nm and 555 nm for the DOM absorption, chlorophyll maximum absorption and for absorption of suspended solid material respectively. For the fluorescence-based algorithm we analyzed in-situ remote sensing reflectance $(R_{rs})$ data using baseline method. Fluorescence Line Height $({\Delta}Flu)$ calculated from $R_{rs}$ at bands centered on 681 nm and 688 nm, and ${\Delta}Flu_{(area)}$ are used for development of algorithm. As a result ${\Delta}Flu_{(area)}$ method leads the best fitting for squared correlation coefficient $(R^2)$.
The effect of antireflection layer on the reduction of optical loss has been investigated in Si photodiodes detecting red light with central wavelength of 670 nm. The theoretical analysis showed minimum reflection loss of 6% for the $SiO_2$thickness of about $1100∼1200\AA$ in the $SiO_2$-Si system with the single antireflection layer and no reflection loss for the X$N_3$N$_4$$SiO_2$thickness of $2000\AA$/$1200\AA$ in the $Si_3$$N_4$$SiO_2$-Si system with double antireflection layer. In our experiments, Si photodiodes with the web-patterned $p^{+}$-shallow diffusion region were fabricated by bipolar IC process technology and the devices were classified into three kinds according to the structure of $Si_3$$N_4$/$SiO_2$antireflection layer. The fabricated devices showed maximum spectral response in the optical spectrum of 650∼700 nm. The average photocurrents of the devices with the $Si_3$$N_4$$SiO_2$thickness of $1000\AA$/X$SiO\AA$, and $2000\AA$$1800\AA$ under the incident power, of -17 dBm were 3.2 uA, 3.5 uA and 3.1 uA, respectively.
Purpose: This study aims to propose a method for fast geographical origin discrimination between domestic and imported rice using a visible/near-infrared (VNIR) hyperspectral imaging technique. Methods: Hyperspectral reflectance images of South Korean and Chinese rice samples were obtained in the range of 400 nm to 1000 nm. Partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) models were developed and applied to the acquired images to determine the geographical origin of the rice samples. Results: The optimal pixel dimensions and spectral pretreatment conditions for the hyperspectral images were identified to improve the discrimination accuracy. The results revealed that the highest accuracy was achieved when the hyperspectral image's pixel dimension was $3.0mm{\times}3.0mm$. Furthermore, the geographical origin discrimination models achieved a discrimination accuracy of over 99.99% upon application of a first-order derivative, second-order derivative, maximum normalization, or baseline pretreatment. Conclusions: The results demonstrated that the VNIR hyperspectral imaging technique can be used to discriminate geographical origins of rice.
