The approach in this thesis is for prediction of deformed strip profile in hot rolling mill. This approach shows how to make an expression as a mathematical form in predicting strip profile. This approach is based on the velocity field, shear stress and material flow on the strip edge along width direction and lateral displacement and stress along width are analytically calculated. Roll force is calculated in each section and then combined together to show roll force distribution along width. All the assumptions to make equation form for this approach are supported by FEM simulation result and the result of model is verified by FEM result. So, this model will supply very useful tool to the researcher and engineers which takes less time and has similar accuracy in predicting roll force profile comparing to FEM simulation. This model has to be combined with deformed roll profile model, which include thermal crown prediction and wear prediction model to predict deformed strip profile.

WHAT we teach, and HOW students experience it, are the primary factors that shape students' understanding and beliefs of what mathematics is all about. Further, students pick up their sense of mathematics from their experience with it. We have seen the results of the approach to "break the subject into pieces and make students master it bit by bit. As an alternative, we strive to create a teaching environment in which students are DOING mathematics and thereby engender selected aspects of "mathematical culture" in the classroom. The vehicle for doing this is the so-called Japanese Open-ended approach to teaching mathematics. We will discuss three aspects of the open-ended approach - process open, end product open, formulating problems open - and the associated approach to assessing learning.

This paper presents a mathematical approach to implementing distributed optimal power flow (OPF), wherein a regional decomposition technique is adopted to parallelize the OPF. Three mathematical decomposition coordination methods are introduced firs to implement the proposed distributed scheme: the Auxiliary Problem Principle (APP), the Predictor-Corrector Proximal Multiplier Method (PCPM), and the Alternating Direction Method (ADM). Then two alternative schemes for modeling distributed OPF are introduced; the Dummy Generator-Dummy Generator (DGDG) scheme and Dummy Generator-Dummy Load (DGDL) scheme. We present the mathematical analyses of the proposed approach, and demonstrate the approach on several test, systems, including IEEE Reliability Test Systems and parts of the ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) system.

To the design of secret key, there are two types of basic approaches called the tame approach and the wild approach. In the tame approach we try to use only simple primitives such as linear feedback shift registers and to prove mathematical theorems about their cryptographic properties. In the wild approach we try to use crazy compositions of operations which mix a variety of domains in a nonlinear and nonalgebraic way. There are several papers which try to bridge this gap by considering semi-wild constructions. A T-function on n-bit words plays an important role in semi-wild constructions. In this paper we study the invertibility and the period of some T-functions. Especially we characterize some polynomials which has a single cycle property.

The optimal portfolio choice problem with a stochastic income is considered in continuous-time framework. We provide a novel approach to treat the stochastic income when the market is complete. The developed method is useful to obtain closed-form solutions of the problems under borrowing constraints.

본 논문에서 행렬의 가장 큰 고유값과 그에 대응하는 고유벡터가 과학적인 의사결정과정에 어떻게 적용되는지를 살펴본다. 이를 적용한 계층분석적 의사결정(AHP) 방법에서 사용된 행렬이론을 통해서 실제로 연구과제 선정방법의 심사지표 가중치가 AHP를 이용하여 조절되는 예를 구체적으로 알아본다.

In this paper, we investigate the valuation of vulnerable exchange option that has credit risk of option issuer. The reduced-form model is used to model credit risk. We assume that credit event is determined by the jump of the counting process with stochastic intensity, which follows the mean reverting process. We propose a simple approach to derive the closed-form pricing formula of vulnerable exchange option under the reduced-form model and provide the pricing formula as the standard normal cumulative function.
