영뉵(盈朒)과 영부족술(盈不足術)에 관한 최근 동서양의 연구 분석 (AN ANALYSIS OF RECENT RESEARCH ON THE METHOD OF EXCESS AND DEFICIT (Ying NÜ and Ying Buzu Shu))

  • 영뉵 또는 영부족(盈不足)은 그 글자의 의미에서 보듯이 넘치는 것과 부족한 것에 관계된 '과부족'문제를 나타낼 때 사용되는 유용한 개념으로, 영부족술(盈不足術)은 과부족문제를 푸는 일종의 산법이다. 본 논문은 먼저 지금까지 영부족에 관하여 소개된 최근의 모든 논문을 분석하고, <구장산술 九章算術> 권칠(卷七) "영부족" 장의 대표문제를 통하여 영부족술의 내용과 산법으로써의 의미를 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 새롭게 서술하였다. 그리고 서양에서 이중가정법(rule of double false position)으로 알려진 영부족에 관한 최근의 동서양 연구결과를 분석하여, 영부족술과 Cramer's Rule과의 관계 및 <산학보감 算學寶鑑>에 소개된 진화된 영부족술의 특징에 대하여 논하였다. 더 나아가 영부족술의 기원과 중국의 영부족술이 아랍을 거쳐 유럽으로 전파된 배경을 구체적으로 밝혔다.

  • Choosing to See: A Framework for Equity in the Math Classroom is a book intended to be a practical tool for teachers to build empowering mathematics classrooms for their students from marginalized groups. Pamela Seda and Kyndall Brown provide concrete guidance using seven key principles, the ICUCARE (pronounced "I See You Care") Equity Framework, to provide a pathway for teachers for how to meaningfully make their classrooms a more equitable space for all students.

  • The book ${\ll}$Ceyuan Haijing${\gg}$ studies inscribed and circumscribed circles in a right triangle and shows equations that give the diameters of the circles. We discuss the development of mathematical contents written by the scholar Yang Zhaoyun in Qing dynasty on the contents of ${\ll}$Ceyuan Haijing${\gg}$ in his book ${\ll}$Jiuyong Yandai${\gg}$. He derived equations to find the diameters of the circles based on algebraic knowledge known in the Qing dynasty. In this paper, we conclude that Yang's methods in devising the equations include the Gou-Gu Theorem, mathematical expressions derived from Gou-Gu ratio table, and the technique of interchanging triangles and events. We conclude that the Gou-Gu ratio table was a very important tool when Yang devised the equations in ${\ll}$Ceyuan Haijing${\gg}$.

남.북한 중등학교 수학 교과서의 영역별 내용 비교 분석 -대수, 통계, 해석, 기하 영역을 중심으로- (Comparative Study on Mathematics Text-book of Secondary Schools in South and North Korea -From the Viewpoint of the Region of Algebra, Statistics, Analysis and Geometry-)

  • It has already been fifty years since the Korean peninsula was divided into two nations, South and North Korea. Owing to forming different political and social structures with each other, we can conjecture that there are much heterogeneity in education. On the assumption that education plays important role in coming to an accommodation and in restoring homogeneity of the Korean race after unification, we consider the investigation of the contents of mathematics text-book of secondary schools as a meaningful research to make provision against unification. In this paper, we shall investigate the learning contents, and the teaming substances and sequences in mathematics of secondary schools between South and North Korea by falling into four regions; algebra and statistics, analysis and geometry. By grasping the special features of terms, teaming subject matters and learning substances, and clarifying their distinctions, we shall present some reforms measure of distinctions.

구성주의가 수학 교과용 도서에 주는 시사와 난점 (Comments on Developing Mathematics Textbooks Based on Constructivism)

  • The primary purpose of this study is to investigate problems with the current mathematics textbook. According to a survey, the following were the findings: Textbook is only a tool-book for introducing mathematical facts. It is a unique book for all students possessing different level of mathematical ability. There is difficulty in teaming math using technological devices and in activating(mental and concrete) manipulative activities. There is difficulty in communicating while doing mathematics. There is lack of defined and developed layout of textbook, et. al. It can be however found that these problems can be solved to some degrees, when mathematics textbook is developed based on constructivism. Recently, in mathematics education, it has been gradually emphasized that constructivism can be powerful in teaching and learning mathematics. There are however some difficulties in developing mathematics textbooks to reflect constructivism, such as to fill the gap between the contents written in the national curriculum determined in advance and the contents which students construct psychologically or socially in mathematics class.

조선시대의 산학서 <구일집>의 내용 분석 및 교육적 활용 방안 탐구 (Analysis on Gu-il-jip, the mathematical book of Chosun dynasty and its pedagogical applications)

  • <구일집>은 9장으로 이루어진 조선 후기의 대표적인 산학서이다. 473개 이상의 문제와 그에 대한 풀이가 주를 이루는 이 책의 내용을 분석함으로써 당시의 전문 산학 자에 의한 수학적 활동을 음미할 수 있다 그 중, 측정 단위와 소수 표기, 원주율 및 원의 넓이와 구의 부피, 거듭제곱 명명법, 계산 도구인 산대의 이용, 남거나 모자라는 양에 대한 계산법인 영부족술, 연립방정식의 해법인 방정술, 다항식의 표기법인 천원술, 고차방정식의 해법인 개방술 등은 오늘날의 수학 지식 및 방법과 비교할 때 특히 주목할 만하다. 이러한 분석에 기초하여 학교 수학에서의 교육적 활용 가능성을 타진해 본다.

이산 수학 제7차 교육과정의 구현 방안 연구 (Implementing Discrete Mathematics in the 7th Elementary and Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum of Republic of Korea)

  • Discrete Mathematics is newly introduced into the 7th Elementary and Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum of Republic of Korea. Every high school can choose Discrete Mathematics as an optional course from year 2002, but mostly from year 2003. According to its characteristics and objectives in the curriculum, we should know how to implement Discrete mathematics. But it is hard to predict whether Discrete Mathematics will be successful or not, since many studies have shown the lack of readiness for the course. In this study, we analyze the Discrete Mathematics text book developed recently in 2002. Then we see how Discrete Mathematics can be implemented. First, we suggest how the contents in the Discrete Mathematics text book are related to the mathematical values. This will clarify instruction and learning methods in Discrete Mathematics classrooms. Secondly, rich and various discrete contents should be taught. Students should appreciate the realistic merits of discrete mathematics. Thirdly, evaluation methods and their examples will be presented based upon the contents of she text. The evaluation that distinguishes individual achievement levels is closely related with implementation of Discrete mathematics in schools. Finally, we point out the weakness of Discrete Mathematics contents in the 7th curriculum to prepare ourselves for the 8th curriculum.

그림책에 의한 수학활동이 유아의 수학적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Picture Book Based Mathematical Activities on Mathematical Problem-Solving Performance in children)

  • This study investigated the effectiveness of mathematical activities based on picture books for the development of children's problem-solving performance. Subjects were 72 children divided in two groups of 36 each; one group had mathematical activities based on picture books and the other group had of pencil-and-paper tasks. The problem-solving performance was measured in terms of the test by Ward(1993) with a few modification for pretest and posttest. Mathematical activities were performed 12 times over a 6 week period. The data was analyzed by Analysis of Covariance(ANCOVA). The group taught by picture books significantly improved mathematical problem-solving performance.

조선시대 산법서류의 서지적 분석 (A bibliographical study on the mathematical materials that were published during Yi-Dynasty)

  • The aim of this thesis is to attempt a bibliographical analysis of mathematical materials that were published during Yi-Dynasty. In this study, matters that were treated concretely are the same as follows: 1. Formulation of a system about mathematical materials that were published from Three Kingdoms to Yi-Dynasty. 2. Background of each period about compilation and publication of mathematical materials. 3. Investigation to transition, block book and domain of subject of mathematical materials through analysis on each period of publication. But it was not easy to contrast materials on each catalogue with existed books one by one. In further, we must a new chance for better a n.0, ppreciation about Yi-Dynasty's mathematical materials through continuous studies to this field.

「주서관견(籌書管見)」과 「구장산술(九章算術)」의 내용 비교 (A Comparative Study of Contents between Ju-Seo-Gwan-Gyeon and Gu-Jang-San-Sul)

  • 본 연구는 조선시대의 산학서인 "주서관견(籌書管見)"의 내용 구성 체계와 구장(九章)의 내용을 동양의 대표적 산학서인 "구장산술(九章算術)"과 비교 분석한 것이다. 본 연구의 내용 분석을 통해 지금까지 구체적으로 알려지지 않았던 "주서관견"의 내용체계를 확인할 수 있었으며 당시의 산학의 내용을 확인할 수 있었다. "주서관견"의 구장(九章)과 "구장산술"의 내용 및 형식을 비교한 결과 "주서관견"의 문제는 "구장산술"의 문제와 대부분 그 구성 및 형식이 유사하고 주어진 조건의 수치까지는 일치하지 않으나 동일한 유형의 문제가 많다. 또한 "주서관견"의 문제가 심화 되어 다루어지고 있으며 그 서술 형식에 있어서도 특징적인 차이점이 있었는데 이를 통해 "주서관견"은 "구장산술"과 다른 산학서들의 영향을 받아 저술되었음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 내용 분석에 기초하여 "주서관견"에서 다루어지는 여러 문제들이 우리나라 수학사 연구의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.
