In this paper, we propose a wideband ridge SIW(Ridge Substrate Integrated Waveguide)-to-SIW(Substrate Integrated Waveguide) transition. The proposed transition structure is designed to acquire a wide bandwidth by inserting through via holes at the regular interval for an impedance matching and an E-field mode matching method. The measurement results show a fractional bandwidth is 29.1 % at 20 dB return loss from the center frequency(11 GHz). The maximum insertion loss is 0.49 dB from 9.21 GHz to 12.41 GHz.

Shaped Sound Focusing is defined as the generation of acoustically bright shape in space using multiple sources. The acoustically bright shape is a spatially focused region with relatively high acoustic potential energy level. In view of the energy transfer, acoustical focusing is essential because acoustic energy is very small to use other type of energy. Practically, focused sound shape control not a point is meaningful because there are so many needs to enlarge the focal region especially in clinical uses and others. If focused sound shape can be controlled, it offers various kinds of solutions for clinical uses and others because a regional focusing is essentially needed to reduce a treatment time and enhance the performance of transducers. For making the shaped-sound field, control variables, such as a number of sources, excitation frequency, source positioning, etc., should be taken according to geometrical sound shape. To verify these relations between them, wavenumber domain matching method is suggested because wavenumber spectrum can provide the information of control variables of sources. In this paper, the procedures of shaped sound focusing using wavenumber domain matching and relations between control variables and geometrical sound shape are covered in case of an acoustical ring.
There exists a strong coupling between real and reactive power owing to the complex impedances in droop based islanded microgrids (MGs). The existing virtual impedance methods consider improvements of the impedance matching for sharing of the voltage controlled power (VCP) (reactive power for Q-V droop, and real power for P-V droop), which yields a 1-DOF (degree of freedom) tunable virtual impedance. However, a weak impedance matching for sharing of the frequency controlled power (FCP) (real power for $P-{\omega}$ droop, and reactive power for $Q-{\omega}$ droop) may result in FCP overshoots and even oscillations during load transients. This in turn results in VCP oscillations due to the strong coupling. In this paper, a 2-DOF tunable adaptive virtual impedance method considering impedance matching for both real and reactive power (IM-PQ) is proposed to improve the power sharing performance of MGs. The dynamic response is promoted by suppressing the coupled power oscillations and power overshoots while realizing accurate power sharing. In addition, the proposed power sharing controller has a better parametric adaptability. The stability and dynamic performances are analyzed with a small-signal state-space model. Simulation and experimental results are presented to investigate the validity of the proposed scheme.

This paper presents multibit Sigma-Delta ADC using noise-shaped dynamic element matching(DEM). 5-bit flash ADC for multibit quantization in Sigma Delta modulator offers the following advantages such as lower quantization noise, more accurate white-noise level and more stability over single quantization. For the feedback paths consisting of DAC, the DAC element should have a high matching requirement in order to maintain the linearity performance which can be obtained by the modulator with a multibit quantizer. The DEM algorithm is implemented in such a way as to minimize additional delay within the feedback loop of the modulator Using this algorithm, distortion spectra from DAC linearity errors are shaped. Sigma Delta ADC achieves 82dB signal to noise ratio over 615H7z bandwidth, and 62mW power dissipation at a sampling frequency of 19.6MHz. This Sigma Delta ADC is designed to use 0.25um CMOS technology with 2.5V supply voltage and verified by HSPICE simulation.

A 23GHz 2-stage LNA was designed using MPIE numerical analysis and microwave CAD EEsof softwares. The basic circuit was designed by EEsof tools but analyzed more precisely using numerical MPIE tools and modified. The matching sections of the input and output terminals were designed with paralledl coupled filter-type lines, these matching sections perform impedance matching and DC blocking, more over have the advantages of small discontinuities and small errors in the design process. The FET chip is directly attached to the ground metal. The designed LNA gives 15.2dB gain and 2.7dB noise figure. without considering 1.8dB loss of connectors. These results validate our design process and matching schemes and fabrication technologies over the 20GHz frequency range.

In this paper, a novel frequency reconfigurable active array antenna(RAA) system, which can be reconfigurable for three reconfigurable frequency bands, is proposed by using commercial RF MEMS switches. The MEMS switch shows excellent insertion loss, linearity, as well as isolation. So, the system performance degradation of the reconfigurable system by using MEMS switches can be minimized. The proposed frequency reconfigurable active antenna system is consisted with the noble frequency reconfigurable front-end amplifiers(RFA) with the simple reconfigurable impedance matching circuits(RMC), reconfigurable antenna elements(RAE), as well as a reconfiguration control board(RCB) for MEMS switch control. The proposed RAA system can be reconfigurable for three frequency bands, 850 MHz, 1.9 GHz, and 3.4 GHz, with $2{\times}2$ array of the RAE having broadband printed dipole antenna topology. The validity of the proposed RFA as well as RAA is also presented with the experimental results of the fabricated systems.

Herein, a non-Foster matching circuit is designed to improve the impedance matching characteristics of small antennas in the VHF and UHF bands. The proposed non-Foster circuit is designed to operate with negative capacitance in a wide frequency band from 50 MHz to 1,000 MHz for use in various communication bands. To ensure the stability of the non-Foster circuit with conditional stability, the open-circuit stability condition of Linvill was satisfied, and the circuit was fabricated using the FR-4 substrate. The fabricated non-Foster circuit was combined with a small antenna to verify its performance by measuring the return loss and received power in the FM, DMB, and GSM bands. The measured return loss was improved from -6 dB to -30 dB, and the measured received power was improved from 0.5 dBm to 5.2 dBm.

In this paper, we have designed and fabricated a broadband 2-stage MMIC amplifier. Broadband characteristics could be obtained by compensated matching networks in a 2-stage amplifier design. This method is compensating low gains at lower frequencies in the 1st-stage with higher gains at lower frequencies in the 2nd- stage and then finally flat gains are obtained in the wide frequency ranges. Also, we have obtained not only broadband characteristics but also high gain using compensation matching network. The fabricated amplifier is measured by attaching on the test PCB(Printed Circuits Board). The measurement results are bandwidth of 1.1~2.8 GHz, S$_{21}$ gain of 11.1$\pm$0.3 ㏈ and P1㏈ of 12.6 ㏈m at 2.4 GHz.
An antenna arrays for a satellite navigation systems require more antenna elements to mitigate multiple jamming signals. In order to maintain the small array size while increasing the number of antenna elements, miniaturization technique is essential for antenna design. In this work, an electrically small circular microstrip patch antenna with a 3 dB hybrid coupler is designed as an element antenna, where the 3 dB hybrid coupler can yield the circularly polarized radiation characteristic. The miniaturized element antenna typically has too large capacitance in GPS L1 and GLONASS G1 bands, making it difficult to match with a single stand-alone non-Foster matching circuit (NFMC) in a stable state. Therefore, we propose a new matching technique, referred to as the hybrid matching method, which consists of a NFMC and a passive circuit. This passive tuning circuit manages reactance of antenna elements at an appropriate capacitance without a pole in the operating frequency range. The antenna array is fabricated, and the measured results show a reflection coefficient of less than -10 dB and an isolation of greater than 50 dB. In addition, peak gain of the proposed antenna is increased by 22.3 dB compared to the antenna without the hybrid matching network.
This paper proposes a method of time-scale modification of polyphonic audio signals based on a sinusoidal model. The signals are modeled with sinusoidal component and noise component. A multiresolution filter bank is designed which splits the input signal into six octave-spaced subbands without aliasing and sinusoidal modeling is applied to each subband signal. To alleviate smearing of transients in time-scale modification a dynamic segmentation method is applied to subbands which determines the analysis-synthesis frame size adaptively to fit time-frequency characteristics of the subband signal. For extracting sinusoidal components and calculating their parameters matching pursuit algorithm is applied to each analysis frame of subband signal. In accordance with spectrum analysis a psychoacoustic model implementing the effect of frequency masking is incorporated with matching pursuit to provide a resonable stop condition of iteration and reduce the number of sinusoids. The noise component obtained by subtracting the synthesized signal with sinusoidal components from the original signal is modeled by line-segment model of short time spectrum envelope. For various polyphonic audio signals the result of simulation shows suggested sinusoidal modeling can synthesize original signal without loss of perceptual quality and do more robust and high quality time-scale modification for large scale factor because of representing transients without any perceptual loss.
