  • K-Pop Square Media, located at COEX in Samseong-dong, has gained public attention and mass media focus by showcasing various three-dimensional videos on a large LED display. The video content on the distinctive large curved LED display utilizes a form of media façade technique, establishing itself as a new landmark and attraction within the spatial characteristics of the COEX Plaza. This study aims to examine the characteristics of media facades used in outdoor advertising in urban spaces, focusing on K-Pop Square Media. The approach for this research involves three aspects: Firstly, examining the 'spatial characteristics' of urban public spaces by referencing Kevin Lynch's five elements constituting urban space and William J. Mitchell's exploration of smart spaces and changes in spatial paradigms. Secondly, analyzing the 'digital nature' of outdoor advertising through an examination of three types of Digital Out-Of-Home (DOOH) Media. Thirdly, exploring the 'technological advancements and content composition of media facades' by investigating types of display media (projection, LED screens), the inception of media facades, and the latest display technology like Anamorphic displays. Through this research, it becomes evident that K-Pop Square Media exhibits characteristics of publicness, communicativeness, artistry, and placemaking through the spatial characteristics of smart spaces, the media-specific aspects of Digital Out-Of-Home advertising, and the content composition of media facades.

  • Aneurysms of the extracranial carotid artery are rare. This is a case report of the rapidly expanding false carotid aneurysm at left common carotid artery, which was repaired surgically with internal shunt This 20 year old male patient had a large pulsatile mass on left lateral aspect of neck at the time of admission. About 1 month before admission, he had received a trauma on left neck by glass piece and noted massive blood loss. And its skin of lesion was sutured simply at local clinic and well healed. 10 days before the admission, he had the sudden onset of the adult thumb sized and pulsatile mass and the mass had been enlarged more and more to the adult first-sized one. The cervical film showed a egg-sized and soft tissue mass. There was systolic bruit on the mass. The diagnosis was confirmed with the angiogram of left carotid artery and this showed the man`s thumb tip-sized extravasation at the point 2 Cm below the bifurcation of Internal and external carotid arteries. The emergency operation was performed by the internal shunt with carotid artery. The aneurysm was enclosed with the adventitia and carotid sheath, and the intima and media were Intact and had the opening of 0.5 cm in diameter. The opening was sutured by the one-hand mattress suture method and firmed with the Aron Alpha-A "Sankyo." Results: Body weight control behavior was positively correlated with weight-control self-efficacy and objective body mass index. Body weight control behavior showed significant differences according to the interest in weight control, current weight control effort, reasons for weight control, secret method for weight loss, eating breakfast or not, and the amount of time exposed to mass media. In regard to the body weight control behavior according to the gender role identity type, the androgynous showed significantly higher tendency than other types. • Entomogenous fungi which attack living insects are powerful means for microbiological insecticide. The purpose of this study is to establish the culture conditions and media for mass production of Beauveria sp. C208 which has a broad host range as a potential microbiological pesticide. The temperature and pH range for optimal cultivation of this strain were 28$circ$C and pH 5.0-7.0. For Beauveria sp. C 208, 2% rice straw and 0.6% tryptone were found as the proper carbon and nitrogen sources, considering cell mass, enzyme activities such as chitinase, protease and lipase, and spore concentration.

  • The benign tumor of smooth muscle, the leiomyoma, may arise anywhere in the body, in such tissues as the muscularis of the gut and the media of blood vessels, although by far its most common location is the uterus. Indeed, the mediastinal leiomyomas are extremely rare, especially when one excludes those arising in the esophagus. No dogmatic statements can be made with regard to age, sex distribution, symptoms, or clinical course because of the extreme paucity of cases available for evaluation. Although the majority of the reported cases are in the posterior mediastinum, thus suggesting esophageal origin. We have experienced a right inferior mediastinal leiomyoma in 36 years old housewife. She complained hemoptysis and right lower chest pain associated with intermittent low-graded fever and chillness. Routine X-ray film revealed a large irregular cystic mass density in the right lower thoracic cavity. On exploratory thoracotomy, a huge round yellow-gray colored solid mass, measured about 2.5kg in weight, was located in the right inferior mediastinum just above right hemidiaphragm, medially. The tumor mass was removed, being proved to be leiomyoma on histopathologic examination. Her postoperative course was uneventful and discharged without complication.

  • The study aims to investigate the effects of media and self-image congruity of ideal body image on the dieting and exercising behaviors of Korean and U.S. female college students. This study focuses on the concept of self-image congruity in order to examine how respondents perceive actual and desired self-images compared to an ideal female body image selected by respondents. A self-administered survey was conducted, resulting in 331 total responses (194 from Korean students and 137 from U.S. students). The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis, t-test, exploratory factor analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 23.0. The findings revealed significant differences between Korean and U.S. female college students. U.S. students were more exposed to body image ideals in the media than Korean students; however, Korean female students valued the information regarding ideal body image conveyed by the media more than U.S. respondents. Among Korean female students, exposure to media messages regarding ideal body image and media importance had significant effects on desired self-image congruity, while these factors were not significant among U.S. students. However, there was a negative effect of media exposure on actual self-image congruity among U.S. respondents only. Additionally, the study uncovered that Korean students manage their body image through dieting behaviors while U.S. respondents manage body image through exercise behaviors (weight training as well as cardiovascular exercise). The study provides further support for self-image congruity, which extends its applications to the body image field.
