VIBRATION OF A CIRCULAR PLATE WITH A CONCENTRATED MASS ATTACHED ON A RADIUS

  • An analytical method is presented for predicting the effect of a local deviation in the form of a concentrated mass along a radial line on the free bending vibration characteristics of a nearly axisymmetric circular plate. The approach is based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method and the expression of local deviation of the concentrated radial mass as the variation of heaviside unit step function. The effects of the concentrated mass on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the plate are predicted with a proposed nondimensional mass parameter.

  • The $2.5-5.0{\mu}m$ spectrum of AGN was poorly understood due to the atmosphere effect beyond $2{\mu}m$. Nevertheless, the $2.5-5.0{\mu}m$ range includes several important lines, such as $Br{\beta}$ ($2.63{\mu}m$), $Br{\alpha}$ ($4.05{\mu}m$), PAH (3.3${\mu}m$) and many molecular or atomic lines. We compile $2.5-5.0{\mu}m$ spectra of 79 AGNs and QSOs from infrared camera (IRC) on AKARI infrared astronomy satellite. Our $2.5-5.0{\mu}m$ spectra will provide an access to full wavelength spectra of AGNs for the first time. Moreover, we present the Brackett line properties, FWHMs and luminosities, of AGNs. Using these Brackett line properties, we derive new black hole (BH) mass estimators. The new BH mass estimators using NIR hydrogen lines will be very useful to estimate BH mass of dusty red AGNs in the future.

  • The Spar platform with deep draft is characterized as effective structure in extreme wave condition, which has larger natural period than that of waves in sea. In this paper, the time simulation of motion responses of Spar with catenary mooring line is presented in irregular waves. The memory effect is modeled by added mass at infinite frequency and convolution integrals in terms of wave damping coefficients. The added mass, wave damping coefficients and wave exciting forces are obtained from three-dimensional panel method in the frequency domain. The motion equations are consisted of forces for inetia, memory effect, hydrostatic restoring, wave exciting and mooring line. The forces of mooring line are modeled as quasi-static catenary cable.

  • In this paper, linearized dynamic characteristics of parallel line pivoted pad thrust bearing(hereinafter refer to PLP thrust bearing) was analyzed by perturbation method with inlet pressure. Inlet pressure and excitation frequency irfluence dynamic characteristics of PLP thrust bearing at all operating condition, such as angular pivot position, mass of pad. Therefore, the characteristics is have to analyzed with inlet pressure, excitation frequency, mass of pad and thickness of pad. Otherwise, the analysis is able to estimate the characteristics over or under.

A numerical study of the influence of rock mass classes boundary on tunnel stability (암반 등급 경계가 터널 안정성에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • When the tunnel is designed, the ground is classified into several grades and the corresponding support system is applied according to the support pattern table. However, a simple pattern application based on rock grade does not take into account the longitudinal stress transitions occurring at rock grade boundaries. In this study, three-dimensional numerical analysis was performed to estimate the stress change in the longitudinal rock grade change of NATM tunnel, and the influence zone of load transfer was investigated using the influence line and trend line. As a result, the downward change of rock grade in the direction of tunnel excavation occurs in the range of 0.35~0.7D from low-strength rock to high-strength rock around the grade change boundary. It is necessary to apply a downward pattern of about 1.0D to the safety direction in consideration of the influence range of 0.35D to 0.7D.

IUE SPECTRA OF THE SEYFERT 1 GALAXIES Mrk 335 and NGC 4051

  • The international ultraviolet explorer (IUE) spectra of a low dispersion $\~6{\AA}$, have been investigated for two Seyfert 1 galaxies, Mrk 335 and NGC 4051, well known for the line variability. The electron densities of broad line region (BLR) of these variable Seyfert 1 galaxies have been derived, which showed a non-linear abrupt variation from $10^8$ to $10^{10} cm-3$ within a month. We also found the excitation (or temperature) changes in the Mrk 335 BLR from the IUE broad line profiles analysis, but no such evidence in the NGC 4051. The large amount of mass inflow activity through the bar or spiral structure of host galaxies, may trigger the density change in BLR and emission line variability for both objects. Mass of the giant black holes appear to be order of $10^7\;M_{\bigodot}$ for both variable Seyfert l's.

Development of Analytical Method and Monitoring of Organophosphorus Pesticides in the Raw Water and Clean Water by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS를 이용한 유기인계 농약류의 최적 분석법 정립과 원·정수에서의 모니터링)

  • The analytical method for 16 organophosphorus pesticides was developed in this study. The 16 organophosphorus pesticides were analyzed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) using on-line solid phase extraction (on-line SPE) with PLRP- S cartridge. Analysis of all analytes in the MS/MS was processed in the electrospray ioni-zation (ESI) positive mode. They are Azinphos ethyl, Chlorfenvinphos, Ethion, Famphur, Phosmet, Phosphamidon, Terbufos, Aspon, Chlorpyrifos-methyl, Crotoxyphos, Dichlofenthi-on, Dicrotophos, Fonofos, Thionazin, Dimethoate and Iprobenfos. Limits of detection (LODs) and Limits of quantification(LOQs) were obtained as 0.8~2.0 ng/L and 2.6~6.4 ng/L, respectively. All compounds were not detected at the 8 sampling points of the raw water and clean water.

Optimized Flooding Analysis Method for Compartment for Nuclear Power Plant (원전 격실에 대한 최적 침수분석 방법)

  • In this paper a realistic bounding method for flooding analysis following rupture of large size of thanks and piping is defined. Mass and energy release during main feedwater line break accident is analyzed with RETRAN code. It is modeled that the main feed water control valve is closed in 5.0 seconds after reactor trip. In result of the analysis, largest mass and energy is discharged at 70% reactor power. The flood sources for main feedwater room are calculated when piping failure occurs in the high energy line and medium energy line. Based on the result of flood level (1.43m), it is investigated that all of the safety-related environmental qualification equipments are well located above the flood level.
