This research was undertaken to examine Masan's regional food service industry, which experienced drastic changes due to liberation and the Korean war. Analysis of restaurant advertisements in 'Masanilbo' revealed a total of 92 restaurants during this period. The numbers of restaurants classified by the time periods are 18 (1946 to 1950), 27 (1951 to 1955), 17 (1956 to 1960), and 30 (1961 to 1966). 'Gomguk' gained popularity in the early 1900s and became a speciality of Masan, resulting in the appearance of numerous Gomguk restaurant advertisements. After independence, Japanese foods were predominant in Masan since the population was used to eating Japanese dishes during the colonial era. Moreover, there was a major influence of the people who returned to the homeland. Masan was the place for refugees during the 6.25 war, resulting in the popularity of 'Naengmyeon'; advertisements largely displayed 'Pyeongyangnaengmyeon' during the early 1950s, and 'Hamheungnaengmyeon' during the early 1960s. Western food advertisements usually introduced 'Dongaseu' and 'Kareraiseu', which were deeply influenced by Japanese culture. These various contributions resulted in alterations in the food menu, such as the rise of fusion food which is not bound to any nation, spread of Japanese food culture, and popularity of 'Naengmyeon'.

Pollution contribution rate that is effect on water quality from land based load in Masan bay was showed quantifiably for coastal water quality management by using ecological model. It was calculated by difference of water quality concentration at each points t hat is calculated by each scenarios that are presence or absence of each sources (16 points). Results show that, rivers of Northern Masan bay contributed in Masan bay COD is 20 %, T-P is 62 % at northern part and COD is 10 %, T-P is 16 % at middle part. As a result, rivers of Northern Masan bay had effect on water quality of northern Masan bay and middle Masan bay. Also, T-P load affects water quality bigger than COD load, because T-P contribution rate bigger than COD contribution rate of northern rivers. Dukdong WTTP that is land pollution source of southern Masan bay contributed in Masan bay COD is 26 %, T-P is 11% at middle part, COD is 17 %, T-P is 7 % at middle part and COD is 10 %, T-P is 1 % at outer part. It affects water quality bigger at southern and middle of Masan bay than outer bay, because residual flow of bottom flows toward inner of Masan bay nearby Dukdong WTTP.

Background and Objectives: A plunging ranula represents a mucus escape reaction occuring because of the disruption of the sublingual salivary gland. It is commonly a condition of young adults, although the reported age range is 6-43 years. There is said to be a slightly female preponderance of about 1.9:1(F:M). Surgical incision has been considered the definite treatment, but sometimes complete excision is very difficult. Non-surgical treatment of these lesions has been attempted, but the results have not been satisfactory. In this study, we present our experiences with picibanil (OK-432) sclerotherapy for a plunging ranula. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 41 patients who have undergone sclerotherapy with picibanil for plunging ranula. Information was collected on age, sex, a number of injection, post-sclerotherapy side effect and outcome of treatment. Results: 17 patients (41.5%) showed a complete response, and 20 patients (48.7%) showed inter-mediate response. No response was seen in 4 patients (9.8%). As a side effect of intracystic OK-432 injection therapy, fever (26.8%) and pain(39.0%) were observed. However, fever and pain disappeared after several days in all cases. Conclusion: The results are showing that OK-432 injection is an effective and safe treatment for plunging ranula.

A survey was conducted to determine the concentrations of six heavy metals, namely Fe, Cu, Zn, Pb, Hg and Cd, in the sea water off Jinhae and Masan during January and February, 1974. The contents of Fe, Cu and Zn were the highest in Masan Bay, and decreased in order of Haengam Bay, Ungcheon area and Ungdong area. The Fe concentrations showed significant differences particulary in Masan Bay by depth. All of these characteristic would contribute to the assumption that the pollution might have originated from Masan. Pb contents varied in the range of 1.0-7.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l, but Haengam water contained the lowest concentrations of all areas surveyed. The contents of Hg and Cd showed 0.1 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l through survey regions respectively.

Transcriptomic changes in the brain of Limanda yokohamae were investigated to understand the environmental condition of Masan Bay, Korea. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the brain of the flat fish from Masan Bay were identified by comparing those from the reference site Gangneung using annealing control primers-based polymerase chain reaction. The results demonstrated that two different kinds of the cytoplasmic ribosomal proteins, 40 s ribosomal protein S27a and ribosomal protein L6, were identified by the BLAST searching followed by sequence analysis. These findings suggest that environmental status of Masan Bay could hinder protein synthesis that is required for maintaining brain functions and thus cause the dysfunction of fish physiology.

Recently, the development construction of New Masan Container Terminal (1-1 Phase) with private investment would be set for opening in the 2011 year in Masan Port, Korea However, as new container terminals of the Pusan New Port and 'the New Ulsan Container Terminal neighboring Masan Port will be also planned to open around the time, the strategy establishment for Masan Port is required for a keen competition among these ports. To provide it with strategic points, we applied SP model used for customers' behavior method to analyze customer's preference changes with the shifts of the ports' conditions for customers.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical results of anterior and posterior stabilization by one stage posterolateral approach for the unstable fracture of thoracolumbar and lumbar spine. Methods : By posterolateral approach with curved skin incision, unilateral facet and pedicle were removed. Through this route, corpectomy was performed, and then this space was replaced with mesh cage filled up with autologous bone graft. Both side pedicle screw fixation was followed to upper and lower levels. Results : Six of seven patients of this study showed neurological improvement. The other one patient showed no neurological change. One patient had postoperative infection, another patient had postoperative kyphosis. The other patient had epidural hematoma on operation site after surgery. And all patinets on this study made to have spinal stability except one patient happened postoperative kyphosis. Conclusion : In the unstable fracture of thoracolumbar and lumbar spine, one stage anterior and posterior stabilization and fusion by posterolateral approach seems to be an effective procedure, if we have more care and supplementation.

We study on the dynamic interaction with a simulated physical-biological coupled model response to nutrient reduction scenario in Jinhae Bay. According to the low relative errors, high regression coefficients of COD and DIN, and realistic distribution in comparison to the observation, our coupled model could be applicable for assessing the marine ecosystem response to nutrient input reduction in Jinhae Bay. Due to the new construction and expansion of sewage treatment plant from our government, we reduce 50% nutrient inputs near Masan Bay and sewage treatment plant. COD achieves Level II in Korea standard of the water quality from the middle of the Masan Bay to all around Jinhae Bay except the inner Masan Bay remaining at Level III. When our experiment reduces 50% nutrient inputs near Masan Bay and Dukdong sewage treatment plant simultaneously, COD decreases to about 0.1-1.2 mg/L $(128^{\circ}30'{\sim}128^{\circ}40'\;E,\;35^{\circ}05'{\sim}35^{\circ}11'\;N)$. The COD from the middle of the Masan Bay to Jinhae Bay achieves Level II.

A 57-year-old male suffered from tingling and paraesthesia on radial side of right hand. We carried out exploration, the process being done, a radial artery passing between the two branches of bifurcated superficial radial nerve was found by accident. Then we performed dissection of the radial artrery a little more distally. It was passing above the extensors of thumb to anstomical snuff box. We treated it with ligating the radial artery, which was done a little above the bifurcated site of superficial radial nerve after angiography of upper extremity. While we were following this procedure, we noticed that symptoms had improved a lot. To our knowlege, neuropathy, by itself of superficial radial nerve by the radial artery with anatomical variation has never been reported and therefore we report this case.
