Promoting Attendance at Cervical Cancer Screening: Understanding the Relationship with Turkish Womens' Health Beliefs

  • Background: The aim of the study was to identify the relationship between 'Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and the Pap Smear Test' subscale scores and demographic/gyneco-obstetric characteristics. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 256 women. Data were obtained using the 'Demographic and Gyneco-Obstetric Identification Form' and the 'Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and the Pap Smear Test. Results: The percentage of women who had heard about the Pap test was 77.7 whereas only 32.4% had actually undergone the test. Some 45.7% of the women stated that they did not know the reason for having a Pap test. Women who had obtained a Pap smear test had statistically significantly fewer perceived barriers than those who had never had (p<0.05). Scores with regard to the subscales including 'Benefits of Pap Smear Tests and Health Motivation', 'Perceived Seriousness of Cervical Cancer', 'Susceptibility to Cervical Cancer' and 'Cervical Cancer Health Motivation' did not differ with demographic/gyneco-obstetric characteristics such as womens' educational level, whether or not young age at first marriage, whether or not having family history of female cancer, and whether or not having had a Pap test (p>0.05). Conclusions: Increasing knowledge about benefits of Pap smear tests, increasing motivation to obtain Pap Smear Test and increasing perceived seriousness of cervical cancer could promote attendance at cervical cancer screening. Different strategies are needed for behavioural change. Implementation of educational programmes by nurses in a busy environment could result in a major clinical change, based on the findings of this study.

기혼여성의 SNS중독경향성에 대한 잠재프로파일 분석 및 영향요인 검증 (Identifying Latent Classes of the SNS Addiction Tendencies in Married Women and Testing Determinants of the Classes)

  • 본 연구는 기혼여성들의 SNS중독경향성에 대한 잠재프로파일을 분류하고, 잠재계층을 분류하는데 있어서 연령, 성인애착, 소외 두려움에 대한 외적동기, 결혼만족도의 영향력을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상자는 SNS를 사용하고 있는 기혼여성으로, 온라인 설문 조사를 통해 진행하였으며 총 300명의 자료가 분석에 사용 되었다. 분석 결과, 기혼여성들의 SNS중독 경향성에 대한 잠재프로파일은 3개의 집단으로 분류되었다. 3개의 집단은 '고위험군', '잠재위험군', '저위험군'으로 세 가지 하위 영역(집착 및 금단, 과잉소통과 몰입, 과도한 소비)에서 모두 점수가 높았던 '고위험군'은 전체의 24.51%를 차지하였고, 하위 영역들에서 중간 정도의 점수를 보이는 '잠재위험군'은 44.33%로 그 비율이 가장 높았다. 잠재계층 분류에 있어서 연령을 제외한 다른 모든 변인이 유의미한 영향력을 지니는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기혼여성의 SNS중독경향에 특성에 따른 집단을 구분하며 집단별 특성에 따른 상담과 교육에 방향에 대한 시사점을 제공하였으며, 이후 기혼여성의 SNS중독경향에 대한 표준화된 도구개발 등을 통해 다양한 연구 확대가 필요함에 대해 논의하였다.

간호사의 임파워먼트와 직무만족, 조직몰입과의 관계 (A Study on the relationship of Empowerment with Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment perceived by nurses)

  • Today, environments of healthcare and hospital organizations are changing very rapidly. In response to these rapid and uncontrollable changes, organizational members should be required to be empowered, because empowerment makes feelings of powerlessness and frustration reduce and leads to work performance such as Job satisfaction and Organizational commitment. The term 'Empowerment' is frequently used in recent, but there is a lack of study. In nursing administration, studies are also few. Empowerment is defined here as a cognitive, continuous and active process which empower intrinsic work motivation to members. This study takes empowerment as a construct composed of four factors-meaning, competence, self-determination, impact. 1. The purpose is to analyze the relationship of empowerment with job - satisfaction and organizational commitment perceived by nurses. 2. The method : Data were collected from 334 nurses in 2-hospital and gathered during the period 20days from September 11 to September 30, 2000 and ANOVA, Pearson's correlaton etc are conducted for this study. 3. The results were as follows: 1) In characteristics of subjects, age and the period of duty were significantly different in empowerment (p<0.001). Educational background, marriage and motivation to be nurse were different in empowerment(p<0.05). 2) Empowerment degree perceived by nurses was 55.52. 3) Empowerment was related with job satisfaction (p<0.001) but was not related with organizational commitment. 4. Conclusion : The above result was different from other empowerment studys which empowerment is related with job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The study on empowerment is important in the aspect of strategies for increasement of work performance. For the proper tool in nursing practice, we study empowerment in various aspects and the further studys for the relationship of empowerment with organizational commitment are needed.

지역사회 정신보건관련 센터 근무자와 병원 근무자들의 자살에 대한 인식 및 태도 (Awareness and Attitude Toward Suicide in Community Mental Health Professionals and Hospital Workers)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate community mental health professionals and hospital workers attitude and awareness towards suicide. Methods : This study investigated 264 community mental health professionals and 228 hospital workers. SOQs (Suicidal Opinion Questionnaires) were used from July 2007 to September 2007. After a factor analysis for the attitude towards suicide, the items on ethics, mental illness, religion, risk, and motivation were included in the subsequent analysis. Results : There were significant differences in the attitude towards suicide according to religion, age, educational background, the marriage status, the economic position, and different professional licenses. Hospital workers' view was different from the community workers'. The hospital workers judged that suicide was due to mental illness, and suicide was high for the people in a special environment and who lacked motivation, which caused them to fall in a dangerous situation. For the lower educational group, they thought that suicide was attributable to mental illness. The awareness for suicide was significantly higher in the group with a postgraduate education, unmarried people, mental health professionals and the persons who had concern and experience with suicide. The factors that had an influence on the awareness of suicide were the items of mental illness, religion, risk and motivational factors. Conclusions : This study suggested that the factors to increase the awareness and attitude for suicide were the experience of increased education and case management of suicide. Therefore, education dealing with suicide and reinforcement of crisis management programs should be developed.

여성 베이비부머의 결혼기 자녀에 대한 자원이전 인식 (Female Baby Boomers' Perceptions on Resource Transfers to their Children Who Have Gotton Married or Plan on Getting Married)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the resource transfer process from female baby boomers to their children who have gotten married or plan on getting married. The following research questions were explored. (1)To what extent have female baby boomers been transferring their resources to their children supporting marriage or vice versa? (2)What are the opinions of female baby boomers on future resource transfer plans to their children? (3)What are the opinions of female baby boomers on supporting themselves in their old age, and those of their children on supporting their aging parents? In-depth interviews were conducted with 11 female baby boomers who were born between 1955 to 1963. A case study research method was used to analyze the interview results. The findings were as follows. First, economic resource was the most common type of resources that the interviewees transferred to their children. Those who could not transfer their economic resources instead transferred their instrumental resources. Second, it was anticipated that the current trend of interviewees' resource transfers would be similar in the future. In other words, those who used to transfer a large amount of economic resources to their children showed their willingness to do the same in the future. Third, the interviewees did not expect support from their children, but rather were trying to prepare for their old age by themselves. Based on the overall results, the female baby boomers' transferring economic resources to their children implied that they took responsibility for their children. This appears to stem more from to altruistic motivation than reciprocal motivation. Moreover, it can be cautiously concluded that female baby boomers have different perspectives on the transfer of their resources from male's since the interviewees had different opinions on it from their husbands'.

가정폭력 피해 결혼이주여성의 가족치료 사례연구: 단독으로 상담에 참여한 중국출신 여성을 중심으로 (A Case Study of Family Therapy for Marriage Migrant Woman who Experienced Family Violence - Focusing on Chinese Woman Who Participated in Counseling alone -)

  • 본 연구는 결혼이주여성에 대한 가족치료에서의 효과적인 개입전략을 마련하는 것을 목적으로하였다. 이를 위해 성공적으로 상담을 종결한 전문성 있는 상담자의 상담사례를 수집하여 치료 개입 전략과 효과에 대한 질적 분석을 시도하였다. 총 6회기가 진행된 상담 과정에서 행한이주여성의 진술에서 의미 단위를 구분하여 연구결과를 도출하였다. 상담자는 다음과 같은 개입 전략을 시도한 것으로 분석되었다. 첫째, 미해결 정서문제 탐색을 통한 정서적 분화 돕기, 둘째 가족투사과정과 삼각관계로 인한 미분화 다루기, 셋째 원가족 관계 패턴 및 대처기제의다세대전수과정 다루기를 시도하였고, 넷째 MRI의 의사소통모델을 적용한 정서적 억압에 따른비일치적 의사소통방식의 비효과성 조명, 다섯째 재구성을 통한 내담자의 인식 전환하기, 여섯째 진짜 자기로 이끄는 의사소통방식 제안을 시도하였다. 상담자의 이와 같은 시도로 긍정적인 변화가 일어났는데, 치료 효과로는 첫째, 인지적 통찰 및 변화 동기의 촉발, 둘째 의사소통능력의 향상, 셋째 불안감소와 자기분화로 나타났다. 결혼이주여성의 경우 남편의 상담 참여거부로 보통 혼자서 상담에 참여하게 되는 경우가 많아 가족치료의 효과가 낮을 것으로 우려하는 경향이 있으나 상담자의 적절한 개입이 이루어지면 부인의 갈등해결능력을 향상시켜 가정폭력과 같은 문제 해결에 커다란 도움이 될 수 있다는 점을 확인하였고, 본 연구는 그에 필요한 적절한 치료 개입 전략을 제공하였다는데 의미가 있다.

사무직근로자의 운동이행과 관련된 요인 (Factors associated with regular exercise in office workers)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the factors associated with regular exercise in office workers based on the health belief model such as health belief, self efficacy and barrier among office workers. For the study, we surveyed 253 office workers and analysed using SAS package program. That results obtained were as follows; 1. There were significant differences in sex, age, marriage status. 2. Exercise showed a significant association according to 5-6 days/week exercise, used to fitness center in company, exercise before the attendances. 3. The health belief showed a significant association according to 20-29 years old, unmarried and non exerciser. 4. The self efficacy showed a significant association according to female, nondrinker, nonsmoker, regular exerciser, motivation of exercise is maintain health and weak exerciser. 5. The barrier of exercise was high in non exerciser. 6. A negative correlation was observed between the health belief, the self efficacy and the barrier of exercise. In conclusion, this study suggests that the effective exercise program to reinforce the factors based on health belief and self efficacy, have to be developed.

경력 단절 기혼 여성의 재취업 욕구 관련 요인 (Factors Related to the Desire of Married, "Career-interrupted" Women to be Re-employed)

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the desire of married women to be re-employed and the factors related to this desire. The study gathered information from 240 women who gave up their jobs and careers after marriage. Information included their career history, current psycho-social condition, and family situation. Multiple regression and covariation structure analyses indicated that the desire of married women to go back to paid work was influenced by family economic condition, psycho-social condition, and child care situation. Specifically, the study found that family's monthly income and the age of the last child were negatively related to the women's desire for re-employment. On the other hand, economic pressure and achievement motivation were positively related to the women's desire. Finally, the study found that socio-economic background and external social support were not significantly related to the women’s wish to go back to the workforce.

패밀리 레스토랑 종사원의 직무 만족도에 관한 연구 -서울시내 패밀리 레스토랑을 중심으로- (A Study on Foodservice Industry Employee′s Job Satisfacrion Level)

  • To develop and improve as the finest foodservice industry, it has to secure the best team organized by the most satisfied employees. It is very important for foodservice industry to have the organization efficiency and study all kinds of factors to be influenced by several conditions. This study was focused on some matters to achieve the foodservice industry's business goal as well as to satisfy the employees. 1, the writer, set up four hypotheses for the examination. First, there will be not an interrelation between the employee's satisfaction and sex, age, marriage, educational background, and eager level. Second, there will be not an intreation between the employee's satisfaction and work period, position, department and major. This study could get some result from the analysis suggested by the above hypotheses. The following are the further explanation including some outstanding feature from the analysis based on the human resource: first for the category about the level of job satisfaction evaluated by the census, foodservice industry employee's job satisfaction depends upon the atmosphere in which employes could enjoy their work. Even the promotion chance can be made in the environment of creative and active working condition. Finally, the promotion chance can be realize not through the employee's attitude assuming the motivation factor to be difference from hygiene factor, but through keeping their work carried out in various activity.

물리치료사의 직무만족에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Analysis of Factors that Influence the Job Satisfaction of Physical Therapists)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze factors that influence the job satisfaction of physical therapists working in hospitals. Methods: The study was done using a self-administered questionnaire associated with job satisfaction, which was completed by 352 physical therapists working in hospitals. Results: The average job satisfaction score was 3.16. Sub-items scores for job satisfaction were higher for overall satisfaction (3.21) and lower for job satisfaction of achievement (3.12) than the average score. Job satisfaction of subjects showed statistically significant differences with regard to differences in sex, marriage, type of hospital, year of total career, type of patients and motivation level (p<0.05). The average job stress score was 2.38. The sub-items of job stress consisted of problems pertaining to physical environment (2.28), job demand (2.54), job autonomy (2.31), social support (2.14), job instability (2.36), organized management system (2.44), inner motive (2.24), and job culture (2.26). Multiple regression analysis revealed that job satisfaction became significantly lower with increasing levels of job stress. Conclusion: These results suggest that the job stress of physical therapists is closely related to their job satisfaction. An effort to reduce job stress may be helpful in improving the health and quality of life of physical therapists who work in hospitals.
