The fashion market focuses on consumers and maximizes consumers' satisfaction. The fashion market has been segmented to better satisfy the variety of consumer group. Although market segmentation has been studied, efficiency and effectiveness of market segmentation continuously bring problems. Also, problems of prediction about real consumer behavior, and efficiency and effectiveness of standards are pointed out. The purpose of this study is to determine the most important variables for dividing fashion product buyers. This study was designed as qualitative study and in-depth interview was conducted. The in-depth interview was conducted with five experts in fashion intelligence agency. In-depth interview was completed by an analytic induction and an investigator triangulation. Questions were about characteristics, demographic characteristics, important factors and fashion buying relationship, and interests of current clothing shoppers. The results of qualitative research demonstrated that clothing shoppers, with their valuable consumption and selective buying behaviors, seek differentiated products. They also long for high quality apparel for its price, because of their valuable consumption and price centered tendency. They illustrated active sides, such as enthusiastic information searching and emotional or experiential consumption, rather than attitudinal sides. The variables for dividing fashion product buyers included: "innovative seeking", "symbolic seeking", "personalized seeking", "quality-seeking", "selective seeking", "price-seeking", "utility-seeking", "hedonic seeking", "sensitive seeking", "brand-seeking", "digital seeking", "information-seeking", and "eco-seeking".
This study investigated the determinants of the foreign direct investment (FDI) by the Korean firms. We focused on types of FDI such as market-seeking, efficiency-seeking, strategic asset-seeking, resource seeking investment and institutional distance including economic distance, political distance and cultural distance which were affecting Korean FDI decision. We tested our hypotheses using Korean FDI data collected between 1980 and 2010. The result showed that Korean FDI to be associated with market-seeking, efficiency-seeking, strategic asset-seeking investment, and institutional distance such as economic distance. We also examined Korean FDI before and after IMF, and the results indicated that before IMF, Korean FDI was associated with market-seeking and strategic asset-seeking investment. However, after IMF, Korean FDI was associated with market-seeking, efficiency-seeking, strategic asset-seeking investment, and institutional distance such as economic distance.
A travel destination offers a form of novelty to the traveler since it can provide experiences that are not of the everyday variety. Therefore, a search for novelty is important as a motivation factor when planning leisure trips and vacation activities and to identify travel market segments. This study aimed to examine the differences in demographic characteristics, travel style, and preferred food-related activities in accordance with the level of tourists' novelty seeking. This study investigated potential tourists using a self-administered questionnaire survey, which resulted in 300 usable questionnaires. The respondents of this study were classified into two groups according to their level of novelty seeking: Active novelty-seeking group and Passive novelty-seeking group. These two groups were significantly different with respect to demographic characteristics, travel style, and preference of food-related-activity experience. The results show that the Active novelty-seeking group tended to have a higher proportion of females and specialized jobs, a higher level of monthly income and education, more frequent travel, and preference for food-related activity experience than other groups. The result of this study will be helpful for the tourist industry, which needs to develop culinary and food-related experience tour programs and travel market segments.

The purpose of this study was to segment the consumer market for women's street clothes based on benefit sought. The sample was taken from 1106 middle class women who were in their 30's-40's living in Gwangju city. Consumers were classified into three groups by honest sought. The groups were practical benefit seeking group(36.7%), multi-benefit seeking group(32.6%) and symbolic/aesthetic benefit seeking group(30.7%). ANOVA, $\chi$$^2$-test revealed differences among groups according to benefit sought, use of information sources, purchasing behavior variables and demographic variables As a result of comparison for two market segmentations, benefit segmentation was proven to be more useful than segmentations using clothes image preference. But there were differences in psychological variables and demographic variables among the same benefit segments. Therefore hybrid approach on segmentation using clothes images preferences and benefit sought is neccesary.
The purpose of this study was to investigate consumption behaviors regarding red pepper paste according to the food-related lifestyles of housewives. Data were collected from 210 housewives living in the Gyeongnam region of Korea through a self-administered questionnaire on November, 2008. Frequencies, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, cluster analysis, one-way analysis of variance, and chi-square tests were conducted using SPSS v. 14.0. Food-related lifestyles were categorized into one of five factors: popularity-seeking type, health-seeking type, convenience-seeking type, safety-seeking type, and taste-seeking type. In addition, the respondents were divided into four groups by cluster analysis: safety-seeking group, convenience-seeking group, popularity-seeking group, and taste-seeking group. The chi-square tests revealed that there were significant differences in awareness regarding how to prepare red pepper paste, the reason for buying it at the market, where to buy it, where to obtain information regarding it, the most important factor considered when buying it, and the reason for dissatisfaction with it at the market.
This paper is to study globalization motives and strategies of Japanese and Korean industries by analyzing the causes and patterns of foreign direct investment (FDI) of the firms of the two countries during the 1980s and 1990s. First we develop a FDI function from the profit maximizing model of firms. Then we use regression analysis to determine internally driving-out factors and externally-inducing factors. Japanese FDI strategy has gone through three different stages; from natural resource-seeking investment in the 1950s and 1960s to market-expansion investment in the 1970s and 1980s and to a combination of cost-reducing (low-cost labor-seeking) investment and market-penetrating investment in the 1990s. On the other hand, Korean FDI behavior has gone through four different stages; from the learning stage with small investments in the 1970s, to natural resource-seeking investment in the early and mid 1980s, to the growth stage in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, to the maturity stage of the mid and late 1990s. The last two stages were characterized by a combination of cost-reducing investment and market-seeking investment. As a late comer, Korea began its FDI two decades later than Japan, but caught up the patterns of Japanese FDI by the mid 1990s and is in a competing position with Japan. Our findings show that both Japanese FDI and Korean FDI in Asia and other developing countries tendto be in labor-intensive sectors where their firms are losing their comparative advantages at home. The main motive for FDI into these regions is low-cost resource seeking. On the other hand, both Japanese FDI and Korean FDI in the U.S. and Europe tend to be knowledge-intensive sectors where Japanese and Korean firms attempt to internalize transaction and information costs by globalizing its production. The main motive for FDI into these regions is market-seeking. Firms in both countries have increased their investments in Mexico and Western and Eastern Europe in order to penetrate large economic blocs such as the EU and NAFTA area. Korean firms are more aggressive in expanding into new and untested markets than are their counterpart in Japan. Evidence of this can be seen in the scarcity of Japanese FDI and abundance of Korean FDI in Eastern Europe and China.
The volume of the party wear market is gradually growing in the Korean fashion market. The study attempted to examine psychological clothing benefits as the criteria for market segmentation, and identify differences in information sources. and clothing evaluative criteria in each segmentated market. The summary of the key findings are as follows. Three segments were identified by psychological clothing benefits: pleasurably self-expressing group, fashion-seeking group, and indifferent group. The differences in search information sources between the classified groups were identified The fashion-seeking group had a higher mean score on mass media. The pleasurably self-expressing group had higher scores on advice from friends, colleagues, or companions. The differences in evaluative criteria between the classified groups were also identified. Among the evaluative criteria, the splendid boldness and polished silhouette criteria showed a marginal difference between each group. This study can contribute as a cornerstone for future studies on party wear and market strategies.
In this study, investigation into the impact of sensation seeking tendency and clothing attitudes upon brand variety seeking will be made through the presentation of sensation seeking tendency as consumer's motivation of clothing behavior and clothing attitude as parameter. To give goals of this study. First, to help the understanding of consumers by elucidating consumer's psychological characteristics against sensation seeking tendency, clothing attitude and diverse brands seeking. Second, to offer standard for specifying market by presenting theoretical as well as empirical data. Third. to create successful marketing strategy according to consumer groups and moreover to increase sales efficiency. Research results are as follows : As a result of investigating on which factor among sensation seeking tendency affects on seeking various brands, change seeking tendency and aesthetic seeking impact upon seeking various kinds of brands. Change seeking is turned out to be the most influential factor. Fashion leadership, fashion innovativeness, attention concentration, social approval and clothing interest had an impact on diverse kinds of brand seeking: there was a positive relations with fashion leadership. attention concentration. clothing interest and fashion innovativeness, whereas a negative link with social approval. Three factors of sensation seeking tendency, two factors, that is change seeking and aesthetic seeking. have direct and indirect paths that lead to diverse brand seeking, via clothing attitude. that is to say, clothing interest. fashion leadership. social approval and attention concentration. On the other hand, thrill and risk seeking only had indirect path. Aesthetic seeking showed higher significance to indirect effect on diverse brand seeking which takes clothing attitude as a parameter, than that of direct effect. Brand variety seeking was under considerable effect of fashion leadership, clothing interest and attention concentration, in order.

The purpose of this study was to analyze jeans market faced with economic difficulties to provide jean's maker with a large representative data base for jeans marketing strategy. This study surveyed jeans market and analyzed brand awareness. brand image and consumer's seeking image for 700 young adults. The 700 questionnaires were distributed at the five locations(Opkujung Shinchon Munjungdong, Shinrimdong '||'&'||' Suwon) and 656 reliable ones were used for statistical analysis. A. SAS statistical package including frequency table factor analysis. analysis of variance. and Duncan's multiple range test was used. The results are as follows : 1. Brand awareness involves "brand recall" based on asking a person to name recalled first and "brand rcognition" based on asking to identify brand name from 30 given brands. The result indicated that "Levis" was dominant for brand recall and Guess was dominant for brand recognition. 2. Regarding the brand image the result showed that "Vov" was best represented for sophisticated '||'&'||' trendy brand images "Storm" for characteristics brand image "Jambangee" for reasonable price '||'&'||' comfortable brand images and "Levis" for classic '||'&'||' design/color brand images. 3. As a result of factor analysis on consumer's seeking image six factors(characteristic/gay, intelligent/sexy, feminine/sophisticated , active/functional, cute/young, simple/comfortable) were found. Several factors had a relationship with demographic variables and preferred design. 4 Many young adults favored following design details ; low waist relaxed thigh with straight leg and long length up to the end of shoes. The purpose of the study were first to propose and determine the influence of sensation seeking tendency on exploratory behavior related to clothing would be mediated by consumer's clothing involvement and second to examine whether sensation seeking tendency is applicable variable on segmenting market expecially using underlying factors of sensation seeking tendency. A questionaire was developed and data were collected from 342 women ranged in age from 0 to 34 years. They were conveniently selected as a proper sample for applying and examining sensation seeking tendency. Arousal seeking tendency scale(Mehrabian & Russel 1974) was selected for operationalizing sensation seeking tendency and exploratory behavior related to clothing. As a result of regression the indirect effect mediated by clothing involvement of sensation seeking tendency on exploratory behavior was larger than the direct one. The influences of factors of sensation-seeking tendency behavior was larger than the direct one. The influences of factors of sensation-seeking tendency were also investigated. The influence of change-seeking tendency and new enviornment seeking tendency was considerably mediated by clothing involvement but that of risk-seeing tendency was not. Artistic sensation seeking tendency had little effect on clothing involvement and exploratory behavior related to clothing. As a result of regression the indirect effect mediated by clothing involvement of sensation seeking tendency on exploratory behavior was larger than influence of change-seeking tendency and new enviornment seeking tendency was considerably mediated by clothing involvement but that of risk-seeking tendency was not. Artistic sensation seeking tendency had little effect on clothing involvement and exploratory behavior related to clothing.
