3D 실감 체험학습을 위한 증강현실 저작도구 및 해양생물 문화콘텐츠 (Augmented Reality Authoring Tool and Marine Life Culture Contents for 3D Realistic Experience-Based Learning)

  • 3D 입체공간에서 재미와 학습요소가 가미된 해양생물 문화콘텐츠를 개발하고, 도서해양 생물자원의 증강현실 콘텐츠 개발과 체험학습의 활용 방안을 제안한다. 증강현실 저작도구는 위지윅(WYSIWYG) 기반의 저작도구로 Node 구조와 Drag & Drop을 통해 저작도구를 쉽게 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. 해양생물 문화콘텐츠는 marker를 통한 애니메이션 효과, 모델링 데이터의 변화 등의 이벤트 요소를 추가하고, 해양생물 내레이션(narration)으로 실감 체험학습을 지원한다. 해양생물 AR Book은 50여종의 해양생물 증강현실 콘텐츠를 바탕으로 초등학교 수업 교재로 활용이 가능하며, 증강현실을 활용한 3D 입체영상 교육으로 실재적 관찰, 다양한 사고, 최대의 몰입감을 부여하여 학습효과를 높여준다.

한반도 연안에서의 12.5 km 해상도 QuikSCAT 해상풍 검증 (Validation of QuikSCAT Wind with Resolution of 12.5 km in the Vicinity of Korean Peninsula)

  • Several validation studies have been made for QuikSCAT(QSCAT) wind data around the world, mainly in the offshore. However, until now, there were no validation studies for QSCAT wind with resolution of 12.5 km ('QSCAT 12.5 km wind') in the vicinity of Korean Peninsula. To validate 'QSCAT 12.5 km wind' and to investigate its characteristics around Korean Peninsula, the wind data from Ieodo Ocean Research Station, KMA buoys, and KORDI Realtime Observation Stations have been compared. Validation results showed that 'QSCAT 12.5 km wind' RMSE of wind direction and speed were $25.85^{\circ}$ and 1.83 m/s, respectively, at Ieodo Station. The mean wind speed correlation coefficient of KMA buoys and KORDI Realtime Observation Station were 0.78 and 0.61, and the mean wind speed RMSE were 2.2 m/s and 3.2 m/s, respectively. This seems to be mainly because of the distance between QSCAT and in-situ observation stations. The RMSE of wind direction were bigger than $40^{\circ}$ at all in-situ observation stations located near the shore, within 20 km from coastlines. Geophysical features where in-situ observation stations are located seem to affect wind validation scores.

울릉도 특별관측 수행평가 및 강수특성 분석 (The Performance Assessment of Special Observation Program (ProbeX-2009) and the Analysis on the Characteristics of Precipitation at the Ulleungdo)

  • The performance assessment in radiosonde observation on the special observation program (ProbeX-2009) is performed and the characteristics of precipitation using Auto Weather System (AWS) and radiosonde data in 2009 at the Ulleungdo are investigated. The launching time, observation time, and maximum altitude of radiosonde are satisfied with the regulation from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) but the duration of observational time of radiosonde is much shorter than that of the ProbeX-2007 because the altitude of launching site is higher than others in 2007. From the analysis of trajectories of radiosonde, most radiosondes at the Ulleungdo tend to move into the east because the westerly prevail at the middle latitude. However, when the Okhotsk high is expanded to the Korean peninsula and the north-westerly winds strengthen over the East Sea as the subtropical high is retreated, radiosonde tends to move into the south-west and south-east, respectively. Maximum distance appears at the end of observation level before May but the level of maximum distance is changed into 100 hPa after June because the prevailing wind direction is reversed from westerly to easterly at the stratosphere during summer time. The condition of precipitation was more correlated with the dynamic instability except Changma season. Precipitation in 2009 at the Ulleungdo occurred under the marine climate so that total precipitation amounts and precipitation intensity were increased and intensified during nighttime. The local environment favorable for the precipitation during nighttime was while the wind speed at the surface and the inflow from the shoreline were strengthened. Precipitation events also affected by synoptic condition but the localized effect induced by topography was more strengthened at the northern part of Ulleungdo.

  • 목포항 접근 항행구역은 30마일 구간의 협수로로 이루어져 있으며 항로가 여러 지점에서 교차하고 있어 교통이 혼잡한 수역이다. 특히 목포구를 제외한 외측수역은 항로지정이 되어 있지 않으며 어망 및 광업권이 산재하여 선박의 안전운항을 위협하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 주변환경 및 항행 위해요소 분석, 교통실태 관측조사 및 해양사고 분석을 통한 해상교통환경 평가를 실시하여 항행안전을 위한 대안을 제시하였다.

Impact of Reconstructed Gridded Product of Global Wind/Wind-stress Field derived by Satellite Scatterometer Data

  • The advent of high resolution products of surface wind and temperature derived by satellite data has permitted us to investigate ocean and atmosphere interaction studies in detail. Especially the Kuroshio extension region of the western North Pacific is considered to be a key area for such studies. We have constructed gridded products of surface wind/wind stress over the world ocean using satellite scatterometer (Qscat/SeaWinds), available as the Japanese Ocean Flux data sets with Use of Remote sensing Observation (J-OFURO). Using new data based on improved algorithm which have been recently delivered, we are reconstructing gridded product with higher spatial resolution. Intercomparison of this product with the previous one reveals that there are some discrepancies between them in short-period and high wind-speed ranges especially in the westerly wind region. The products are validated by not only comparisons with in-situ measurement data by mooring buoys such as TAO/TRITON in the tropical Pacific and the Kuroshio Extension Observation (KEO) buoys, but also intercomparison with numerical weather prediction model (NWPM) products (the NRA-1 and 2). Our products have much smaller mean difference in the study areas than the NWPM ones, meaning higher reliability compared with the NWPM products. Using the high resolution products together with sea surface temperature (SST) data, we examine a new type of relationship between the lower atmosphere and upper ocean in the Kuroshio Extension region. It is suggested that the spatial relation between the wind speed and SST depends upon, more or less, the surrounding oceanic condition.

XML 형식의 해양GIS 메타데이터 작성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Developing XML Marine GIS metadata)

  • 해양측량자료 및 관측자료, 위성영상 자료 및 해양과학자료 등의 방대한 양의 해양공간자료를 보다 효율적으로 관리하기 위해서는 메타데이터가 작성되어 메타 정보가 관리되어야 하며, 이 메타데이터를 이용함으로서 해양공간정보에 대한 이해를 높이고 정보의 활용을 촉진 시킬 수 있다. 이러한 사례는 국제표준기구 뿐만 아니라 국가지리정보(NGIS)에서 살펴볼 수 있으나 국내에서는 해양공간정보 데이터를 관리 하기 위한 공통적인 메타데이터가 부재하여 향후 오픈된 환경 하에서 자료의 검색 및 활용에 어려움이 있다. 본 연구에서는 해양공간정보의 유용한 검색 및 활용을 위해 국제 표준에 기반한 메타데이터 항목을 제시하였으며, 메타데이터의 작성을 위해 ISO/TC 211에서 규정한 구현 사양에 따라 XML 기반의 메타데이터 작성 도구를 구성하였다.

First record of a marine microalgal species, Micractinium singularis (Trebouxiophyceae) isolated from Janghang Harbor, Korea

  • A eukaryotic microalga was isolated from seawater in Janghang Harbor, Korea and its morphological, molecular, and physiological characteristics were investigated. Due to its simple morphology, no distinctive characters were found by morphological observation, such as light microscope or scanning/transmission electron microscopy (S/TEM). However, molecular phylogenetic evidence inferred from the concatenated small subunit (SSU) 18S rRNA and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence data indicated that the isolate belonged to the newly described Micractinium singularis. Furthermore, it was clustered with Antarctic Micractinium strains and it also showed a psychrotolerant property, surviving at temperatures as low as 5℃. However, its optimal growth temperatures range from 15℃ to 25℃, indicating that this microalga is a mesophile. Additionally, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis showed that the isolate was rich in nutritionally important omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis (HPLC) revealed that the high-value antioxidant lutein was biosynthesized as an accessory pigment by this microalga, with glucose as the major monosaccharide. Therefore, in this study, a Korean marine M. singularis species was discovered, characterized, and described. It was subsequently added to the national culture collections.

Evaluation of visible fluorescent elastomer tags implanted in marine medaka, Oryzias dancena

  • The aim of this study was to assess visible implant fluorescent elastomer (VIE) tagging and stress response in marine medaka, Oryzias dancena. The experimental fish were anesthetized individually and marked with red, yellow, or green elastomer at each of the following three body locations: (1) the abdomen, (2) the back, and (3) the caudal vasculature. During 12 months, the accumulated survival rates of fish in the experimental treatments were not different among red, yellow, and green elastomers. The experimental fish retained > 85% of the tags injected in the back, > 70% of the tags injected in the caudal vasculature, and > 60% of the tags injected in the abdomen (P < 0.05). An important observation was that the abdomen site was associated with poor tag retention. For all injected sites, the red and green tags were able to be detected more easily than the yellow tags when observed under both visible and UV lights. Tag readability was lower for the abdomen site than for the other sites (back and caudal vasculature). Thus, VIE tags were easy to apply to marine medaka (< 1 min per fish) and were readily visible when viewed under UV light.

해양 정적 데이터 수집 및 DB 저장 알고리즘 구현 (Implementation of marine static data collection and DB storage algorithms)

  • 세계적으로 해양공간정보의 활용과 관리에 대한 중요성을 극대화하고 있고, 이러한 데이터를 분석하는 것을 연구 개발의 주요 추진 동력으로 부각하고 있다. 국내에서는 과거부터 현재까지 보유하고 있는 해양 데이터를 수집하고 가치를 추출해내는 것이 향후 우리나라의 과학발전에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다. 특히나 해양 정적 데이터는 거대 빅데이터베이스를 이루고 있으며, 높은 데이터 수집 비용과 고난이도 관측기술이 요구됨에 따라 수집된 데이터의 유실 없는 보관 및 저장이 필요로 하다. 또한 재난안전지능화융합센터의 "해양 디지털 트윈 구축 및 활용기반 기술 연구" 과제를 위해 해양 데이터에 대한 수집 및 분석이 필요로 하여, 이에 본 논문에서는 해양 정적 데이터의 현황 조사를 수행하였고 이를 수집하여 DB에 저장하는 일련의 알고리즘을 제시한다.

해수 내 캐비테이션 환경에서 동합금의 정전위법에 의한 손상 방지 기술 (Damage Protection Technology by Potentiostatic Method of Cu Alloy Under Cavitation Environment in Seawater)

  • This investigation was to identify the electrochemical corrosion protection conditions to minimize the cavitation damage by generating hydrogen gas with the means of hydrogen overvoltage before the impact pressure of the cavity is transferred to the surface. The hybrid potentiostatic test method is designed to evaluate a complexed cavitation and electrochemical characteristic for ALBC3 alloy that is diverse and its broad applications fields in marine industry. The surface observation showed that neither the cavitation damage nor the electrochemical damage by the hydrogen gas generation occurred in the potential of -2.6 V under the cavitation environment. In the potentiostatic experiments under the cavitation environment, the cavities were reflected or cancelled out by the collision of the cavities with the hydrogen gas generated by the hydrogen overvoltage.
