  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of self management of patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes, and to investigate the factors influencing self management. Methods: The subjects consisted of 117 diabetes patients who visited the outpatient department of a university hospital from March to August 2008. Data were collected by asking the subjects to answer a 54-item questionnaire and were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. Results: The total mean score of the patients in self -management was 4.38 out of 7. Medication adherence obtained the highest score under self-management, and the self-monitoring of blood glucose obtained the lowest score. Family support, self-efficacy, severity, and depression were found to be significantly correlated with self-management. In stepwise multiple regression analysis a total of 44.5% of the variance in self management was accounted for by family support, self-efficacy, severity, and depression. Conclusion: Therefore, a diabetic intervention program should be designed and provided for increasing family support, self efficacy, and severity and for reducing depression of patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.

The importance and the performance of foodservice management programs were evaluated based on the perceptions of high school students about food service characteristics affecting customer satisfactions. The average score of the attributes affecting the importance of school food service program was $4.27\pm0.49$ and the most important attribute was identified as 'the food safety $(4.68\pm0.67)$', followed by 'the taste of food $(4.66\pm0.65)$'. The average scores of all performance dimensions were lower than 3 point. 'Menu dimension' was rated as the lowest dimension $(2.61\pm0.89)$ and 'Food dimension $(2.79\pm0.70)$' was rated as the highest dimension. Significant differences among different types of foodservice management were perceived by respondents in the overall performance (F=40.244, p<0.001). • In spite of the convenience and cost-effectiveness of an electronic document management system the paper-type documents still should be stored for a comparison against the original documents. In this paper, for the efficient management of paper documents, we designed and implemented a document management system using smart devices equipped with NFC(Near Field Communication) technology. To implement the proposed system we designed a database for document management and developed an Android application for smart device using Eclipse 3.0 and Java programming. Whenever we touch the smart phone on the NFC tags which are attached to the paper-type documents and document boxes, it is possible to registering, searching and carrying in and out services for documents and boxes. This study provides smart phone users with systematic, economical and convenient paper-type documents management functions, and thus enhances the business efficiency.

Methods: The gage capability index $C_g$ of Type 1 Gage study, precision-to-tolerance ratio PTR of Gage R&R study, and measurement performance ratio $Q_{MS}$ and $Q_{MP}$ of ISO 22514-7 are considered in this paper. Results: This paper derives the relationships between $C_g$ and $Q_{MS}$, PTR and $Q_{MP}$, and $Q_{MS}$ and $Q_{MP}$, respectively, and discusses the acceptance conditions for each procedures. Conclusion: The measurement capability analysis is the first step for the quality improvement of the manufacturing processes. Therefore the result of this study provides a helpful guidelines for assessing the measurement system, enabling proper evaluation of manufacturing processes.

  • The objective of this study was to understand which type of fire hose should be placed in indoor fireplug box upon analyzing the preparation time between rack-type fire hose and reel-type one. With respect to the type of hose, rack-type stacking method was used and hose preparation time was measured with 5 times of repeat test, separating men and women. Study results reveal that preparation time of reel-type fire hose took longer than that of rack-type one in both men and women. For both rack-type hose and reel-type hose, preparation time by two persons took shorter than that by one man. Also, preparation time by three persons took shorted than that by two women. Preparation time for both rack-type hose and reel-type one by men took shorter than that by women. In summary, it was confirmed that rack-type hose could be prepared within shorter time than reel-type one. Since the size of drum set in the reel-type fire hose is relatively small, it had some difficulty in preparation of fire hose timely.

  • Background and Objectives : Sulcus vocalis could be classified into type I, type IIa, and type IIb. There have been a little reports about voice quality and treatment results related with types of sulcus vocalis. The authors conducted an analysis of voice and treatment according to different types of sulcus vocalis. Materials and Methods : This study was based on a retrospective chart review. The sulcus types were classified into type I and type II. Objective and subjective voice assessments were analyzed. Patients were treated individually with voice therapy, percutaneous steroid injection, and injection laryngoplasty. Comparison was performed on the voice difference between type I group and type II group, and between pre-treatment and post-treatment of each types. Results : One hundred and one patients were enrolled into this study, and 49 patients were type I and 52 patients were type II. Type I group showed longer mean maximal phonation time (MPT) than type II group, although other voice parameters didn't show any difference between two groups. Even after the management, almost all of the voice parameters didn't show improvement except MPT of type II group. Conclusion:Although the type I sulcus has been known as a non-pathologic lesion, it can result in some degree of voice change and discomfort, and thus need an active management. In this study, voice therapy, percutaneous steroid injection, and injection laryngoplasty showed limited effect to the both types of sulcus vocalis. Further studies for management of sulcus vocalis were needed.
