  • According to this plant construction trends, the future plant construction will be very complex, specialization and oversize, so it is expected that future plant construction will create high-profits and require the connection between high-technology and construction method. To catch this advance, more detail business management plan and knowledge sharing technology are needed as basic element. Consequently, this study will analyze the status of current plant industry and develop the educational curriculum for plant business participants, and based on study outcome, this study will propose that web-based portal system by Knowledge Management System(KMS) prototype to fit each company's characteristics.

  • The study aims to provide some evidence of the effects of CSR practices on financial-based brand equity in Malaysia. Nowadays, many companies have embraced corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices because CSR is a vital component of the current competitive and complex business arena. It contributes greatly to social, environmental, and economic condition. With CSR practices, companies are able to achieve many benefits and there is evidence that CSR practices predict higher brand equity. However, little evidence has been produced concerning the effects of CSR practices on financial aspects of brand equity in developing countries such as Malaysia. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the effects of CSR practices on financial based brand equity among Malaysia Top 100 brand. A CSR checklist instrument was used in the current study to examine the extent of CSR practiced. The results indicated that PLCs that were actively involved in CSR practices such as environmental, community, workplace and marketplace, found that this involvement enhanced their brand equity. The findings provide useful support and evidence for the management of PLCs in Malaysia, as well as companies in other developing countries, to engage more in CSR practices as a core element of their strategic and brand management.

  • Although various network management architectures such as centralized, distributed, and hybrid have been presented, any one is not always efficient in all the environment. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical and split network management architecture based on MA+SNMP in order to manage a network of many small NEs distributed over the wide area. Our hierarchical architecture has MA-based proxy management nodes for the flexibility and overhead reduction in NMS as well as SNMP-based NEs considering NE's capacity. Through the analysis with real experiments, we show that our proposal improves some drawbacks and the processing delay of the existing architectures in the given environment.

  • Construction industry is traditionally labor intensive. And construction site is also in densely populated environment. So accurate labor monitoring is one of important issues for site management. Labor cost shares large amount of part in total construction cost. Therefore, it is a major element in site management and control. In this article, we explained development of prototype system for labor monitoring based on RFID technology and results of field tests using the system. According to the results, the system is able to expected to improve effectiveness of Labor management in construction site

  • Nowadays, most researchers and manufacturers always pay attention on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) due to its potential applications in many regions such as military, industrial and civilian areas. WSNs are the basic components of Internet of Things (IoT) and the key to machine-to-machine communications and the future Internet. Also, the security is an essential element for deploying WSNs. Recently the concept of trust-based mechanism was proposed in WSNs such as traditional cryptographic and authentication mechanisms. However, there is lack a survey on trust management for WSNs, IoT even future Internet. In this paper, we discuss the concept and potential application areas of trust management for WSNs and IoT worlds. Furthermore, we survey different trust management issues (i.e., cluster, aggregation, reputation). Finally, future research directions with respect to trust management in WSNs and future IoT world are provided. We give not only simple WSNs for IoT environments but also a simulated bootstrap platform to provide the discussion of open challenges and solutions for deploying IoT in Future Internet.

  • Construction project is necessary element for human life to upgrade the quality and convenience. However, due to its contradictory nature to the environment conservation, environmental pollution and damage, deterioration of natural scenery, noise/vibration, water quality pollution, etc. caused in the process of construction greatly affect the environment. The purpose of this study is to propose checklist for environment management can be used in construction phase. For this, we went ahead with the research by studying the existing research related to environment-friendly construction project management both at home and abroad, investigation and analysis of environment-related laws and ordinances, and drawing the checklists for natural environment and living environment at the construction phase. As a result, we were able to compile a checklist for nine items including geological features, animals and plants, use of soil, quality of air, water, and soil, construction wastes, noise, vibration, recreation, and sceneries. The checklist is structured in 4 grades and coded so as to allow it to be developed with the use of computer system in future. We hope that the checklist presented in this study will help lead the managers at the construction phase in construction development sustainable from the perspective of environmental conservation.

  • Social infrastructure is the basis of public welfare and should be recognized and managed as important assets. Bridge is one of the most important infrastructures to be managed systematically because the impact of the failure is critical. It is essential to monitor the performance of bridges in order to manage them as an asset. But current analytical methods such as predictive modeling and structural analysis are very complicated and difficult to use in practice. To apply these methods, structural and material condition data collection should be performed in each element of bridge. But it is difficult to collect these detailed data in large numbers and various kinds of bridges. Therefore, it is necessary to collect data of major measurement items and predict the life of bridges roughly with advanced information technologies. When certain measurement items reach predefined limits in the monitoring bridges, precise performance measurement will be done by detailed site measurement. This paper describes the selection of major measurement items that can represent the tendency of bridge life and introduces automated bridge data collection test-bed using wireless sensor network technology. The following will be major parts of this paper: 1) Examining the features of conventional bridge management system and data collection method 2) Mileage concept as a bridge life indicator and measuring method of the indicator 3) Test-bed of automated and real-time based bridge life indicator monitoring system using wireless sensor network

  • Welding distortions of large steel structures had mainly been estimated with some simplified formula obtained by lots of experience and numerical analyses for small steel structures. However, the large structures would have different characteristics of distortion with welding because of their own stiffness coming from the size itself. Therefore, in order to find some measures for preventing welding distortion of large structure, it is requite in advance to precisely analysis thermal stress and distortion during welding of the structure. Numerical analysis for larger structure has been known to take large amount of calculation time and have a poor convergency problem during the thermo-elasto-plastic calculation. In this study, a hybrid method is proposed to analysis the thermal stress and distortion of a large steel plate with the finite element analysis by incorporating with temperature distribution of the plate calculated by an analytical solution. The proposed method revealed that the thermo-mechanical analysis for welding of the large structure could be performed with a good convergence and produced precise results with much reduced time consumption.

  • In order to overcome the problems of current approaches to metadata interoperability based on element mapping, this research proposed Master Element Framework that is an alternative approach to metadata interoperability. It is an approach to integrate metadata elements that have the same value, instead of direct mapping between similar elements. Master Element Framework is constructed to semantically integrate metadata elements in a hierarchical order and to interconnect between heterogeneous metadata standards. This approach is expected to be an alternative approach to metadata interoperability.

  • A temperature-analysis program, named ${\ulcorner}TAMCON{\lrcorner}$, was developed to predict the temperature rise due to the heat of hydration in hardening concrete. Finite element method was employed to facilitate the temperature analysis for the structures with complex geometry and various boundary conditions. In order to test the validity of the program, the results obtained from TAMCON for the wall-t.ype structure and the mat foundation were compared with the numerical analysis anti experimental data reported previously. As a result, it was found that they were in good agreement. TAMCON may be useful for the temperature control to restrain thermal cracking and the construction management to design the reasonable curing method in mass concrete.
