Smartphone malware has increased because Smartphone users has increased and smartphones are widely used in everyday life. Since 2012, Android has been the most mobile operating system. Owing to the open nature of Android, countless malware are in Android markets that seriously threaten Android security. Most of Android malware detection program does not detect malware to which bypass techniques apply and also does not detect unknown malware. In this paper, we propose lightweight method for detection of Android malware using static analysis and deep learning techniques. For experiments we crawl 7,000 apps from the Google Play Store and collect 6,120 malwares. The result show that proposed method can achieve 98.05% detection accuracy. Also, proposed method can detect about unknown malware families with good performance. On smartphones, the method requires 10 seconds for an analysis on average.
Nowadays, the occurrence of Malware is steadily increasing. The Malware is also becoming more intelligent, advanced and changing into various types. With the development of the information industry, the economic and monetary value of the information is going up and the damage due to the leaked information by the Malware is also increasing. This paper investigates the general usage of the User Agent in the HTTP Header, studies the Malware production techniques by transformation of the User-Agent information and suggests the technical and political counterplan against them.

As the number of malware has been increased, it is necessary to analyze malware rapidly against cyber attack. Additionally, Dynamic malware analysis has been widely studied to overcome the limitation of static analysis such as packing and obfuscation, but still has a problem of exploring multiple execution path. Previous works for exploring multiple execution path have several problems that it requires much time to analyze and resource for preparing analysis environment. In this paper, we proposed efficient exploring approach for multiple execution path in a single analysis environment by pipelining processes and showed the improvement of speed by 29% in 2-core and 70% in 4-core through experiment.
While there is a great demand for malware classification to reduce the time required in malware analysis and find a new type of malware, various similarity measurement methods of malware to classify a lot of malwares have been proposed. But, the existing methods to measure similarity just represented the classification results by them and have not carried out performance comparison with other methods. This is because an evaluation model to compare the performance of similarity measurement methods is non-existent. In this paper, we propose a new performance evaluation model on similarity measurement methods of malware by using two indicators: success rate and degree of confidence. In addition, we compare and evaluate the performance of existing similarity measurement methods by using these two indicators.

Along with the increase prevalence of computers, the number of malware distributions by attackers to ordinary users has also increased. Research to detect malware continues to this day, and in recent years, research on malware detection and analysis using AI is focused. However, the AI algorithm has a disadvantage that it cannot explain why it detects and classifies malware. XAI techniques have emerged to overcome these limitations of AI and make it practical. With XAI, it is possible to provide a basis for judgment on the final outcome of the AI. In this paper, we conducted malware group classification using XGBoost and Random Forest, and interpreted the results through SHAP. Both classification models showed a high classification accuracy of about 99%, and when comparing the top 20 API features derived through XAI with the main APIs of malware, it was possible to interpret and understand more than a certain level. In the future, based on this, a direct AI reliability improvement study will be conducted.

According to a recent report by anti-virus vendors, the number of new and modified malware increased exponentially. Therefore, malware analysis research using machine learning has been actively researched in order to replace passive analysis method which has low analysis speed. However, when using supervised learning based machine learning, many studies use low-reliability malware family name provided by the antivirus vendor as the label. In order to solve the problem of low-reliability of malware label, this paper introduces a new labeling technique, "Unified Labeling", and further verifies the malicious behavior similarity through the feature analysis of the fine-grained method. To verify this study, various clustering algorithms were used and compared with existing labeling techniques.
Enterprise networks in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics were hacked in February 2018. According to a domestic security company's analysis report, attackers destroyed approximately 300 hosts with the aim of interfering with the Olympics. Enterprise have no choice but to rely on digital vaccines since it is overwhelming to analyze all programs executed in the host used by ordinary users. However, traditional vaccines cannot protect the host against variant or new malware because they cannot detect intrusions without signatures for malwares. To overcome this limitation of signature-based detection, there has been much research conducted on the behavior analysis of malwares. However, since most of them rely on a sandbox where only analysis target program is running, we cannot detect malwares intruding the host where many normal programs are running. Therefore, this study proposes a method to detect malware variants in the host through logs rather than the sandbox. The proposed method extracts common behaviors from variants group and finds characteristic behaviors optimized for querying. Through experimentation on 1,584,363 logs, generated by executing 6,430 malware samples, we prove that there exist the common behaviors that variants share and we demonstrate that these behaviors can be used to detect variants.

Malware has its own unique behavior characteristics, like DNA for living things. To respond APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) attacks in advance, it needs to extract behavioral characteristics from malware. To this end, it needs to do classification for each malware based on its behavioral similarity. In this paper, various similarity of Windows malware is estimated; and based on these similarity values, malware's family is predicted. The similarity measures used in this paper are as follows: 'TF-IDF cosine similarity', 'Nilsimsa similarity', 'malware function cosine similarity' and 'Jaccard similarity'. As a result, we find the prediction rate for each similarity measure is widely different. Although, there is no similarity measure which can be applied to malware classification with high accuracy, this result can be helpful to select a similarity measure to classify specific malware family.

This paper proposes the training features for malware family analysis and analyzes the multi-classification performance of ensemble models. We construct training data by extracting API and DLL information from malware executables and use Random Forest and XGBoost algorithms which are based on decision tree. API, API-DLL, and DLL-CM features for malware detection and family classification are proposed by analyzing frequently used API and DLL information from malware and converting high-dimensional features to low-dimensional features. The proposed feature selection method provides the advantages of data dimension reduction and fast learning. In performance comparison, the malware detection rate is 93.0% for Random Forest, the accuracy of malware family dataset is 92.0% for XGBoost, and the false positive rate of malware family dataset including benign is about 3.5% for Random Forest and XGBoost.

This paper proposes an Image Texture Median Filter (ITMF) to analyze and detect Android malware on Drebin datasets. We design a model of "ITMF" combined with Image Processing of Median Filter (MF) to reflect the similarity of the malware binary file block. At the same time, using the MAEVS (Malware Activity Embedding in Vector Space) to reflect the potential dynamic activity of malware. In order to ensure the improvement of the classification accuracy, the above-mentioned features(ITMF feature and MAEVS feature)are studied to train Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and Back Propagation (BP). The experimental results show that the model has an average accuracy rate of 95.43% with few false alarms. to Android malicious code, which is significantly higher than 95.2% of without ITMF, 93.8% of shallow machine learning model SVM, 94.8% of KNN, 94.6% of ANN.
