Game theory has been regarded as a useful theoretical tool for modeling the interactions between distinct entities and thus it has been harnessed in various research field. In particular, research attention has been shown to how to apply game theory to modeling the interactions between malign and benign entities in the field of wireless networks. Although various game theoretic modeling work have been proposed in the field of wireless networks, our proposed work is disparate to the existing work in the sense that we focus on mobile malign node detection problem in static wireless sensor networks. More specifically, we propose a Bayesian game theoretic modeling for mobile malign node detection problem in static wireless sensor networks. In our modeling, we formulate a two-player static Bayesian game with imperfect information such that player 1 is aware of the type of player 2, but player 2 is not aware of the type of player 1. We use four strategies in our static Bayesian game. We obtain Bayesian Nash Equilibria with pure strategies under certain conditions.

One of serious security threats is a botnet-based attack. A botnet in general consists of numerous bots, which are computing devices with networking function, such as personal computers, smartphones, or tiny IoT sensor devices compromised by malicious codes or attackers. Such botnets can launch various serious cyber-attacks like DDoS attacks, propagating mal-wares, and spreading spam e-mails over the network. To establish a botnet, attackers usually inject malicious URLs into web source codes stealthily by using data hiding methods like Javascript obfuscation techniques to avoid being discovered by traditional security systems such as Firewall, IPS(Intrusion Prevention System) or IDS(Intrusion Detection System). Meanwhile, it is non-trivial work in practice for software developers to manually find such malicious URLs which are hidden in numerous web source codes stored in web servers. In this paper, we propose a security defense system to discover such suspicious, malicious URLs hidden in web source codes, and present experiment results that show its discovery performance. In particular, based on our experiment results, our proposed system discovered 100% of URLs hidden by Javascript encoding obfuscation within sample web source files.

Recently, many virus and hacking attacks on public organizations and financial institutions by internet are becoming increasingly intelligent and sophisticated. The Advanced Persistent Threat has been considered as an important cyber risk. This attack is basically accomplished by spreading malicious codes through complex networks. To detect and extract PE files in smart manufacturing industry networks, an efficient processing method which is performed before analysis procedure on malicious codes is proposed. We implement a preprocessor of open intrusion detection system Snort for fast extraction of PE files and install on a hardware sensor equipment. As a result of practical experiment, we verify that the network sensor can extract the PE files which are often suspected as a malware.

Existing trust evaluation models for wireless sensor networks can accurately and objectively evaluate trust value of nodes, but the nodes' energy saving problem was ignored. Especially when there are a few malicious nodes in a network, the overall trust value calculation for all nodes would waste lots of energy. Beside that, the network failure caused by nodes death was also not considered. In this paper, we proposed a method for avoiding energy hole which applied trust evaluation models and a trust evaluation method based on information entropy, so as to achieve the purpose of improving nodes utilization. Simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively improve nodes utilization, and it has reasonable detection rate and lower false alert rate compared to other classical methods.
Advances in wireless sensor network (WSN) technology have enabled small and low-cost sensors with the capability of sensing various types of physical and environmental conditions, data processing, and wireless communication. In the WSN, the sensor nodes have a limited transmission range and their processing and storage capabilities as well as their energy resources are limited. A triple umpiring system has already been proved for its better performance in WSNs. The clustering technique is effective in prolonging the lifetime of the WSN. In this study, we have modified the ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing by incorporating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) based dynamic clustering. The proposed scheme, which is an efficient and secure routing protocol for wireless sensor networks through SNR-based dynamic clustering (ESRPSDC) mechanisms, can partition the nodes into clusters and select the cluster head (CH) among the nodes based on the energy, and non CH nodes join with a specific CH based on the SNR values. Error recovery has been implemented during the inter-cluster routing in order to avoid end-to-end error recovery. Security has been achieved by isolating the malicious nodes using sink-based routing pattern analysis. Extensive investigation studies using a global mobile simulator have shown that this hybrid ESRP significantly improves the energy efficiency and packet reception rate as compared with the SNR unaware routing algorithms such as the low energy aware adaptive clustering hierarchy and power efficient gathering in sensor information systems.

Earlier researches on Sensor Networks preferred symmetric key-based authentication schemes in consideration of limitations in network resources. However, recent advancements in cryptographic algorithms and sensor-node manufacturing techniques have opened suggestion to public key-based solutions such as Merkle tree-based schemes. This paper proposes a new concept of public key-based authentication using Polynomial Secret Sharing that can be effectively applied to sensor networks and a detection of malicious node using the hash function. This scheme is based on exponential distributed data concept, a derivative from Shamir's (t,n) threshold scheme, in which the authentication of neighbouring nodes are done simultaneously while minimising resources of sensor nodes and providing network scalability.

Recently, there are an increased the number of reports on the misuse or malicious use of an UAS. Thus, many researchers are studying on defense schemes for UAS by developing or improving C-UAS sensor technology. However, the wrong placement of sensors may lead to a defense failure since the proper placement of sensors is critical for UAS defense. In this study, a multi-object optimization model for C-UAS sensor placement in an air base is proposed. To address the issue, we define two objective functions: the intersection ratio of interested area and the minimum detection range and try to find the optimized placement of sensors that maximizes the two functions. C-UAS placement model is designed using a NSGA-II algorithm, and through experiments and analyses the possibility of its optimization is verified.
The importance of sensor networks as a base of ubiquitous computing realization is being highlighted, and espicially the security is recognized as an important research isuue, because of their characteristics.Several efforts are underway to provide security services in sensor networks, but most of them are preventive approaches based on cryptography. However, sensor nodes are extremely vulnerable to capture or key compromise. To ensure the security of the network, it is critical to develop security Intrusion Detection System (IDS) that can survive malicious attacks from "insiders" who have access to keying materials or the full control of some nodes, taking their charateristics into consideration. In this perper, we design a distributed and adaptive IDS architecture on sensor networks, respecting both of energy efficiency and IDS efficiency. Utilizing a modified HEED algorithm, a clustering algorithm, distributed IDS nodes (dIDS) are selected according to node's residual energy and degree. Then the monitoring results of dIDSswith detection codes are transferred to dIDSs in next round, in order to perform consecutive and integrated IDS process and urgent report are sent through high priority messages. With the simulation we show that the superiorities of our architecture in the the efficiency, overhead, and detection capability view, in comparison with a recent existent research, adaptive IDS.
When DDoS attack is achieved, malicious host discovering is more difficult on wireless network than existing wired network environment. Specially, because wireless network is weak on wireless user authentication attack and packet spoofing attack, advanced technology should be studied in reply. Integrated Access Device (IAD) that support VoIP communication facility etc with wireless routing function recently is developed and is distributed widely. IAD is alternating facility that is offered in existent AP. Therefore, advanced traffic classification function and real time attack detection function should be offered in IAD on wireless network environment. System that is presented in this research collects client information of wireless network that connect to IAD using AirSensor. And proposed mechanism also offers function that collects the wireless client's attack packet to monitoring its legality. Also the proposed mechanism classifies and detect the attack packet with W-TMS system that was received to IAD. As a result, it was possible for us to use IAD on wireless network service stably.
Sensor networks consist of many tiny sensor nodes that collaborate among themselves to collect, process, analyze, and disseminate data. In sensor networks, sensor nodes are typically powered by batteries, and have limited computing resources. Moreover, the redeployment of nodes by energy exhaustion or their movement makes network topology change dynamically. These features incur problems that do not appear in traditional, wired networks. Security in sensor networks is challenging problem due to the nature of wireless communication and the lack of resources. Several efforts are underway to provide security services in sensor networks, but most of them are preventive approaches based on cryptography. However, sensor nodes are extremely vulnerable to capture or key compromise. To ensure the security of the network, it is critical to develop suity mechanisms that can survive malicious attacks from "insiders" who have access to the keying materials or the full control of some nodes. In order to protect against insider attacks, it is necessary to understand how an insider can attack a sensor network. Several attacks have been discussed in the literature. However, insider attacks in general have not been thoroughly studied and verified. In this paper, we study the insider attacks against routing protocols in sensor networks using the Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol. We identify the goals of attack, and then study how to achieve these goals by modifying of the routing messages. Finally, with the simulation we study how an attacker affects the sensor networks. After we understand the features of inside attacker, we propose a detect mechanism using hop count information.
