  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how one's visual evaluations are affected by variations in internal designs of tailored jackets. Major findings are: 1. Of the 35 pairs of adjectives, the factor analysis singled out the following five major factors (total variance of 55.62%): elegance, maturity, neatness, hard/softness, and evaluation. 2. The image of tailored jackets were found to be significantly affected by the length of its collar: jackets with long collar were perceived elegant, graceful, neat, mature and slim. 3. The number of buttons was also found to have significant impact on the image of tailored jackets: A one-button jacket, single or double, was perceived graceful, mature, formal, neat, natural, brisk, slim and so on. Its image deteriorated as the number of buttons increased. 4. Single jackets were found to be significantly different from Double jacket in their images. The former were perceived elegant, neat, and natural.

  • In manufacturing industry of the modem industrial society, people increasingly become concerned the awareness of safety increasingly although they have regarded production the most important factor. Even though, as people make efforts on accident preventions, the number of accidents is decreasing, fatal major industry accidents are rather thanincreasing so that the number of deaths has not decreased. Under these conditions, there is an attempt to introduce and perform the process safety management system as a means for keeping from major industry accidents. However, it leaves to be desired on the methods of measuring process safety in the general manufacturing industry, while it is available to do that in the chemistry industry. Therefore, in this paper, we analysis processes of manufacturing industry in safety point of view and suggest the technique efficiently measuring and managing each process. Proposed the technique shows that the specification on safety determines AHP weight through the managers of firms and each process is suggested by using normalized matrix.

  • In this study, we investigated and identified criterial human factors(errors), most of which lead to terrible ship accidents such as collisions, sinking, fire and explosions resulting both in human lives and physical damages to ships as well as surrounding environments. To this end, we went through the accident reports of 413 cases over 2005~2009 period and classified the human factors into 6 major factors with 19 sub ones which were constructed in hierarchical order. The relative importance of major factors was calculated and among others the lack of awareness turned out to be the most important factor with the weight of 0.391. The contributions of the results in the research are two fold: it will help (i) identify the root causes of ship accidents and prevent further potential ship related incidents, (ii) analyze the degree of the risk associated with the ship accidents, when risk analysis is performed.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of cookies prepared using skate powder (0, 1, 3, 5, 7%) as a substitute for flour. The pH of the cookie dough decreased significantly in response to the addition of all levels of skate powder. However, there were no significant differences in the dough values among the test groups. Furthermore, when the spread factor values were compared among groups, they were found to be inversely proportional to the skate powder concentration. In addition, the Hunter's color L, a and b values decreased significantly as the level of skate powder increased. Moreover, the addition of 1-7% skate powder resulted in increased hardness, cohesiveness, springiness, and brittleness when compared to the control. Finally, the results of the sensory evaluation and acceptance test showed that the cookies containing 3% skate powder had the highest scores.

  • A responsibility of superior management in an airline has become enormous due to rapid increase of airline's organization and its network. Even though a leadership of superior management is believed to be an important factor, it is almost impossible for management to be responsible for all the areas of an airline organization. This is why leadership should be go down to working level people. Self-leadership means that working level people possess leadership, delegated by their superior persons, and improve their work environment with the leadership as well as related right and responsibility. This paper has tried to find out the components of self-leadership perceived by foreign cabin crews and analyzed the impact of self leadership into airline's organizational effectiveness. Based on empirical research results, this paper would suggest administrative and operational implications of managing foreign cabin crews in K-airline. It was found out foreign cabin crews perceive that self reward and self evaluation have a positive impact on self observation factor. The self observation factor has a significant effect on self goal. The self goal is analyzed as a major factor which results in organizational effectiveness.

  • This study was conducted for verification and systematization of estimation method about the headloss using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics). Head loss which happens between the inlet and outlet of in-line mixer can be a major factor for the design and construction. Also, this Case studies about the sensitivity related to the velocity in the piping system. As result, program's default calculation function was used to get each side's total pressure and the differential of each total pressure could be defined as head loss from in-line mixer. In the case of adopting pipe surface friction factor and geometry loss, Calculation residual can be much more reduced. It was found that residual of value between CFD method and field test ranged about 3 through 18 precent.

  • This Analyzed case study of measuring displacement, implemented laboratory investigation, and in-situ testing in order to interpret ground subsidence risk rating by excavation work. Since geological features of each country are different, it is necessary to objectify or classify quantitatively ground subsidence risk evaluation in accordance with Korean ground character. Induced main factor that could be evaluated and used to predicted ground subsidence risk through literature investigation and analysis study on research trend related to the ground subsidence. Major factors of ground subsidence might be classified by geological features as overburden, boundary surface of ground, soil, rock and water. These factors affect each other differently in accordance with type of ground that's classified soil, rock, or complex. Then rock could be classified including limestone element or not, also in case of the latter it might be classified whether brittle shear zone or not.

  • The second research of "a study of the evaluation indicators in Korean public libraries" had as its major objective the identification of indicators and broad dimensions of public library effectiveness in Korea. The managers and librarians of the 175 public libraries in the sample were asked to rate the performance of their libraries. Factor analysis was used to derive 11 dimensions of effectiveness. The dimensions fit four different models of organizational effectiveness.ctiveness.

  • Assessment of a monumental concrete arch bridge with a total length of 210 meters having three major spans of 30 meters and a height of 65 meters, which is located in an earthquake-prone region in southern part of the country is presented in this study. Three-dimensional finite element model of the bridge was generated using a commercially available general finite element analysis software and based on the outcomes of a series of in-depth acceleration measurements that were conducted on-site, the model was refined. By using the structural parameters obtained from the dynamic and the static tests, calibrated model of the bridge structure was obtained and this model was used for necessary calculations regarding structural assessment and evaluation.

  • In this paper, we propose a theoretical method to systematically analyze the power conversion efficiency of a single-phase PFC switching rectifier. Boost-type PFC was organized in order of highest correlation with load current using steady-state analysis results and introduced the concept of loss factor. The loss factors for each major element are summarized and presented in a table. This paper makes it easier to understand the internal loss and power conversion efficiency of the rectifier for loss factors. Lastly, to confirm the validity of the efficiency analysis results reflecting the loss factors, loss and efficiency analysis of the 2.5kW PFC rectifier was performed. The results were compared with data from a 2.5kW PFC circuit for evaluation. As a result, the usefulness of power conversion efficiency analysis reflecting the loss factors proposed in this paper was confirmed.
