This review describes the overall knowledges of parkinson's disease. There are involved the causes. chemical characteristics, clinical features including tremor. bradykinesia, and rigidity. evaluation of movement disorders. and physical therapy of parkinson's disease. People who are diagnosed with parkinson's disease experience movement disorders that, if not managed, can lead to considerable disability. Before treated with parkinson's disease, it is important to recognise the pathogenesis of that. Then we need to develop physiotherapeutic programs based on the pathophysiology of parkinson's disease.
Objectives : C V A(Cerebral Vascular Attack) is the severest and most important disease that makes doctors difficult in treating, also makes patients difficult to recover. I intended to research for imformations and standards of C V A patients of Sasang Constitutional Medicine through this clinical study. Methods : 106 C V A patients(61 men and 45 women) who had been inpatients from October 19, 1996 to August 19, 1999 in Conmaul Oriental Hospital were investigated and analysed the characteristics, past histories, symtoms, progress, relationship with other diseases for example DM and HTN, efficacy of oriental medical treatments. Results and Conclusions : The results of constitutional analysis showed 51 Taeumin(48.1%) 13 Soyangin(12.3%) 12 Soeumin(11.3%) 7 Taeyangin(6.6%). In the frequency of C V A, age of $60{\sim}69(43.4%)$ is major, both $50{\sim}59\;and\;70{\sim}79$ (17.9%) are next. and in pre-disease on the past, C V A is major, digestive disease and musuloskeletal disease are next. In chief complaint, kinetic disorder is major dyslogia is next. In efficacy of treatments, Slightly Improved(52.9%) is the most occupied part of that.
This study was carried out for the burden of disease of major cancers assessment using years of lives with disability in Korea. With the years of lives with disability, this indicator was applied in order to estimate burden of major cancer disease. For this work, We also estimated incidence rate, remission rater case fatality rate, average age of onset, expected duration with disability in each cancer disease. As sources of information, national health insurance data and national mortality registration data were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows; The top five causes of the burden of major cancer disease are evaluated as stomach cancer, liver cancer, colon and rectum cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer in male. The top five causes of the burden of major cancer disease are evaluated as stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, uterine cervix cancer ovarian cancer in female. The process of evaluating the burden disease of major cancers in Korea has not finished with this paper. This study should be seen as the first in a series in Korea. It is necessary to analyse with more accuracy the assumptions behind the methodology.
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals and causes severe economic loss and devastating effect on international trade of animal or animal products. Since FMD outbreaks have recently occurred in some Asian countries, it is important to understand the relationship between diverse immunogenomic structures of host animals and the immunity to foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). We performed genome wide association study based on high-density bovine single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip for identifying FMD resistant loci in Holstein cattle. Among 624532 SNP after quality control, we found that 11 SNPs on 3 chromosomes (chr17, 22, and 15) were significantly associated with the trait at the p.adjust <0.05 after PERMORY test. Most significantly associated SNPs were located on chromosome 17, around the genes Myosin XVIIIB and Seizure related 6 homolog (mouse)-like, which were associated with lung cancer. Based on the known function of the genes nearby the significant SNPs, the FMD resistant animals might have ability to improve their innate immune response to FMDV infection.
Prevalence of major legal communicable diseases in bovine and swine had been monitored in Jeonbuk province from year 2004 to 2008. At least 1 communicable disease had been reported in 687 heads from 68 bovine farms and 17 farms (25.0%) of the 68 positive farms had 1~2 additional outbreaks during the surveillance. By disease, enzootic bovine leukosis, Johne's disease and Akabane disease were occurred in 53 farms (582 heads), 14 farms (100 heads) and 1 farm (5 heads), respectively. Swine communicable diseases were occurred in 4,466 heads from 63 swine farms and 18 farms (28.6%) of the 63 positive farms had 1~2 additional outbreaks during the surveillance. By disease, Aujeszky's disease (AD), porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED), classical swine fever (CSF), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), porcine transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE), atrophic rhinitis (AR) and Japanese encephalitis in swine (JE) were occurred in 20 farms (70 heads), 20 farms (2,817 heads), 12 farms (258 heads), 6 farms (1,257 heads), 1 farm (50 heads), 1 farm (2 heads) and 1 farm (10 heads), respectively. In total, 10 communicable diseases (1 species of first-class, 3 species of second-class, and 6 species of third-class) were reported. The first-class diseases were CSF. Johne's disease, and Aujeszky's disease. JE was the second-class and Akabane disease, enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL), PED, PRRS, TGE and AR were third-class diseases.
Purpose: To evaluate, in patients with degenerative disc disease (DDD), the efficacy of using spinal stabilizing exercises for the reversal? of atrophy of the multifidus and psoas major, reductions in pain and disability, and for increases in paraspinal muscle strength. Methods: Nineteen patients diagnosed with DDD participated for 10 weeks in a spinal stabilization exercise program. Pain and disability were measured before and after exercise using, respectively, a visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Paraspinal muscular strength in four directions was evaluated using CENTAUR. Both before and after exercise we used computed tomography (CT) too measure cross-sectional areas (CSAs) of both the left and right multifidus and the psoas major at the upper & lower endplate of L4. Results: After 10 weeks of a spinal stabilization exercise program, pain was significantly decreased from $5.7{\pm}0.9$ to $2.5{\pm}0.9$ (p<0.01); the ODI score decreased from $16.7{\pm}4.9$ to $7.3{\pm}3.1$. Paraspinal muscle strength was significantly increased (p<0.01) and the CSAs of the left and right multifidus and psoas major muscles were significantly increased (p<0.01). Conclusion: Spinal stabilization exercise is effective in reversing atrophy in DDD patients, in reducing pain and disability, and in increasing paraspinal muscle strength. It is an effective treatment foro aiding rehabilitation in these cases.
Objectives: This study analyzed the relationship between dietary behavior and health-related characteristics and experiences of major oral disease symptoms using online raw data on adolescent health behavior. Methods: Using the raw data on 61,858 adolescents collected through the 13th Adolescent Health Behavior Online Survey, a complex samples logistic regression analysis was conducted to assess risks of major oral diseases. Results: The less one consumes sweet drinks and the more one eats vegetables per day, the less likely one is to experience symptoms of tooth decay and periodontal diseases. Undergoing scaling and oral health education help prevent major oral diseases. Brushing after school lunch prevents periodontal diseases and foul breath, and using dental floss and interdental brush also help prevent periodontal diseases. Conclusions: To minimize experiences of oral diseases during adolescent years, it is necessary to periodically scale teeth and provide knowledge regarding the personal management of dental plaque through school oral health education.

Clonorchis sinensis is currently the most important parasite affecting public health problems in the Republic of Korea. We investigated the prevalence of C. sinensis infection among residents living along 5 major rivers in Korea. A total of 42,562 individual stool samples were collected from 37 localities and examined using the formalin-ether sedimentation technique. Helminth eggs were detected in 4,052 (9.5%) residents and 3,586 (8.4%) were infected with C. sinensis. The egg positive rate of C. sinensis in Nakdong, Seomjin, Geum, Yeongsan, and Han River was 11.7%, 9.9%, 6.5%, 3.1%, and 1.0%, respectively. The overall prevalence of clonorchiasis by sex was 11.2% in males and 6.2% in females. The age-prevalence was the highest in the 50-59 years band. It has been reconfirmed that the endemicity of clonorchiasis is higher in southern areas of Korea, especially along Nakdong and Seomjin Rivers. A combination of continuous control programs with health education initiatives is urgently required in these highly endemic areas of clonorchiasis in Korea.
This research investigates the effect of the Crataegus pinnatifida BGE. var. major N.E. BR(CPVM) on Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, the effects of the DYHT extract on (1) $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, amyloid precursor proteins(APP), acetylcholinesterase(AChE), and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) mRNA of PC-12 cells treated with CTI05; (2) the AChE activity and the APP production of PC-12 cell treated with CT105; (3) the behavior; and (4) expression of $IL-1{\beta}$, $TNF-{\alpha}$, reactive oxygen species(ROS), nitrite oxide(NO); and (5) the infarction area of the hippocampus, and brain tissue injury in Alzheimer's diseased mice induced with CT105 were investigated. The results are as follow. 1. The CPVM extract suppressed the expression of $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, APP, AChE, and GFAP mRNA in PC-12 cells treated with CT105. 2. The CPVM extract suppressed the AChE activity and the production of APP significantly in PC-12 cells treated with CT105. 3. The CPVM extract group showed a significant inhibitory effect on the memory deficit for the mice with Alzheimer's disease induced by CT105 in the Morris water maze experiment. 4. The CPVM extract suppressed the over-expression of $IL-1{\beta}$, $TNF-{\alpha}$, ROS and NO in the mice with Alzheimer's disease induced by CT105. 5. The CPVM extract reduced the infarction area of hippocampus, and controlled the injury of brain tissue in the mice with Alzheimer's disease induced by CT105. These results suggest that the CPVM extract may be effective for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
Cardiovascular disease, especially ischemic heart disease, is a major cause of mortality worldwide. Cardiac repair is one of the most promising strategies to address advanced cardiovascular diseases. Despite moderate improvement in heart function via stem cell therapy, there is no evidence of significant improvement in mortality and morbidity beyond standard therapy. The most salutary effect of stem cell therapy are attributed to the paracrine effects and the stem cell-derived exosomes are known as a major contributor. Hence, exosomes are emerging as a promising therapeutic agent and potent biomarkers of cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, they play a role as cellular cargo and facilitate intercellular communication. However, the clinical use of exosomes is hindered by the absence of a standard operating procedures for exosome isolation and characterization, problems related to yield, and heterogeneity. In addition, the successful clinical application of exosomes requires strategies to optimize cargo, improve targeted delivery, and reduce the elimination of exosomes. In this review, we discuss the basic concept of exosomes and stem cell-derived exosomes in cardiovascular disease, and introduce current efforts to overcome the limitations and maximize the benefit of exosomes including engineered biomimetic exosomes.
