  • Ranaviruses are a primary cause of amphibian extinctions. More consistent ranavirus-infection reports and genetic characterizations of identified viruses are urgently needed, particularly from Asian countries. The objectives of this study were to obtain the partial major capsid protein (MCP) gene sequences (506 bp) of the ranavirus responsible for infecting frogs in South Korea, as our previous research had confirmed using qPCR, and to evaluate their genetic relationships with other previously reported ranavirus sequences. Three different ranavirus MCP sequences were obtained from Pelophylax nigromaculatus and Lithobates catesbeianus. All six different types of MCP sequence from the ranavirus identified in South Korea to date belonged to the Frog virus 3 (FV3)-like virus group in the genus Ranavirus. To better understand the origin and spread of ranaviruses in South Korea, further infection reports and full genome analyses of the identified ranaviruses are needed.

  • In this paper, for the purpose of preparing some fundamental data on the development of the eye-health education program and conducting a practical application, the degree of request for the eye-health education were investigated by surveying 304 undergraduate students. The relationship between the degree of request for the eye-health education and sex, the division of major, and the experience of eye-health education was examined by SAS and $X^2$-test of questionnaire. The degree of request of undergraduate students for the eye-health education was as high as 86.51%. There was no statistical significant difference dependence on their experience of the eye-health education or their sex. There was significant difference dependence on their major. Specially, the degree of request of natural science, medical and health science majors was higher than any other majors. Consideration on the eye-health education should be required to meet the request of it.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of dietary life application according to preferred dietary life education type on quality of life of participants in dietary life education programs and to provide basic data necessary to enhance dietary life education. The results of the analyses conducted to classify the types of preferred dietary life education and types of dietary life application and to verify the validity and reliability of the factors are as follows. In terms of the types of preferred dietary life education, health-oriented type, knowledge-oriented type, and experience-oriented type were derived. In terms of types of dietary life application, proactive application and emotional application were derived. Knowledge-oriented type and experience-oriented type were found to affect proactive application and emotional application in terms of real-life application, and proactive application and emotional application were found to affect quality of life. Therefore, in order to enhance the dietary life education for adults in general, it is necessary to improve accessibility by initiating and promoting various programs along with continuous support from central and local governments. Moreover, in order to increase the real-life application and utilization of such programs, the importance of practical and theoretical education must be recognized, and efforts should be made in training specialized instructors.

A total of 392 women aged 20s in the survey. SPSS version 21.0 was used for analysis of data. The BMI was high in non-major students (p<0.05), proportion of underweight (p<0.001) and non-drinker (p<0.01) were significantly higher in beauty major students than non-major students. Proportion of total subjects skipped meal by the lack of time. Importance of appearance was significantly higher (p<0.05) in beauty major students. Nutrition knowledge score was significantly higher in beauty major students compared to non-major students (p<0.001).In beauty major students, food intake of meats (p<0.001) and cooked food with oil (p<0.01) were lower white vegetables (p<0.05) and fruits (p<0.01) were higher than non-major students. In conclusion, these results suggest that non-major students need to systematic education program about nutrition and diet.

We also examined students'feeling about this. Contrary to our expectations, we could not find any noticeable differences in students' achievement. But we found that students with a high grade tend to major in mathematics- related subjects.
