This study develops a model to estimate the economic life of the large-diameter water supply pipeline in Korea by supplementing existing methods used to perform similar calculations. To evaluate the developed methodology, the model was applied to the actual target area with the conveyance pipe in P waterworks. The application yielded an economic life computation of 39.7 years, considering the cost of damages, maintenance, and renewal of the pipeline. Based on a sensitivity analysis of the derived results, the most important factor influencing the economic life expectancy was the predicted failure rate. The methodology for estimating the economic life of the water supply pipeline proposed in this study is one of the core processes of basic waterworks facility management planning. Therefore, the methods and results proposed in this study may be applied to asset management planning for water service providers.
Purpose - This paper attempts to identify the problems and limitations of a market maintenance project conducted according to the 「Special Act for the Development of Traditional Markets and Shopping Street」 and to present a revised direction for the special law and lay the groundwork for market maintenance projects to be promoted smoothly. Research design, data, and methodology - The revised direction for the legislation and the proposal were written based on an investigation of the problems and the legal system, and proposed measures for market maintenance operation and system improvements to derive the improvements needed for market maintenance projects. Results - A market maintenance project has been conducted as a means to reinvigorate traditional markets that are economically depressed, and to revive the local economy. It was largely conducted in the form of reconstruction and redevelopment and represents the interests of landowners and merchants. Thus, it is most likely to contribute to the gradual disappearance of traditional markets. First, as part of a market maintenance project, many companies are building multipurpose buildings or high-rise residential buildings to increase profits. In these high-rise buildings, they can raise rents, which may not be affordable for some existing small businesses. To solve such problems, the large-scale store registration requirement needs to be relaxed or abolished once the market maintenance project is completed. If the large-scale store registration requirement is to be abolished, the term 'large retail store' should be changed in the 「Special Act for the Development of Traditional Markets and Shopping Street」. After registration, the Small and Medium Business Administration should train merchants, offer consultations, and support events, to the extent that the existing traditional market management modernization project permits, and further continue to manage and support its ongoing activities. However, unless large-scale store registration is abolished, adding an exception clause in the special law to relax large-scale store registration criteria, and permitting changes to building use is another option. At the end of a market maintenance project, empty stores should be purchased by the Small and Medium Business Administration, and local government, etc., at the actual construction cost, to utilize them as public rental shopping areas, which in turn may be re-utilized as a temporary market for another market maintenance project. The second problem in market maintenance projects is merchant-protection. Currently, the special law prescribes that a temporary market be created for merchants to conduct business during the rental period of a market maintenance project. Conclusions - In reality, a market maintenance project is conducted usually in big metropolitan cities with 500,000 residents or more. The main building type created under these projects is a multipurpose building. For this reason, it is very difficult to secure a location for a temporary market in the surrounding area of such a project. To solve this problem, this study suggests 'public rental shopping areas' as mentioned above.

The purpose of this study is to use urban regeneration management types through classification and step-setting of physical types by administrative dong as the basis data for future urban management plans in local small and medium cities. The analysis was conducted on the physical density of each administrative dong by setting the data on urban and architecture provided by the government as three elements: buildings, lots, roads, etc. Through the system classified in this study, Mokpo City's 23 administrative districts were divided into nine management types and three management steps. Methodology can be utilized to establish areas of similar areas within the city and to use them as basic data for planning management. It is meaningful that it is possible to extract areas that need actual regeneration and maintenance through physical density analysis and plan suitable projects.
Purpose: Recently, due to increasing usage of high-tech equipment for facility inspection, the need of verifying high-tech equipment is being emphasized. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to develop performance evaluation methodology of tunnel scanners that inspect tunnel facilities. Method: This paper describes literature reviews regarding the performance evaluation methodology of high-tech based equipment for facility inspection. Based on these investigations and expert advisory meetings, this paper suggests a performance evaluation methodology of tunnel scanner. Result: First evaluation indicator states minimum performance standards of tunnel scanners. Second evaluation indicator is related to tunnel scanner quality. Conclusion: The performance evaluation methodology can provide reliable equipment performance catalogues, helping users to make a proper selection of equipment. Also, developers of equipment can get authorized verification of performances, preventing poor maintenance of facilities.
This study was intended to suggest the appropriate vegetation management methodology by analyzing phytosociology for ecotourism resources. We carried out the classification and interpretation of the vegetation structure and the analysis of the relationship between communities and environmental conditions in Pocheon valley, Mt. Gaya. The vegetation in Pocheon valley was composed of 5 communities: Pinus densiflora-Quercus mongolica community, Quercus serrata-Quercus variabilis community, Larix kaempferi-Quercus serrata community, Pinus densiflora-Castanea crenata community, and Salix gracilistyla-Phragmites japonica community. The Quercus serrata-Quercus variabilis community was further segmented into two types according to the differences of composition species and location of habitats. The methodologies that satisfy both the use of nature for ecotourism resources and the sustentation of natural vegetation are as follows: - maintenance the present vegetation (dominance species) by strictly avoiding artificial management in the tree layer; - maintenance of the existing vegetation structure through the artificial management of the usual vigorous tree species when the species in the shrub layer grow up to the subtree layer; and - continued artificial management to maintain high balanced diversity and evenness of various species in shrub and herb layers.

Procedures play a key role in ensuring safe operation at nuclear power plants (NPPs). Development and maintenance of a large number of procedures reflecting the best knowledge available in all relevant areas is a complex job. This paper introduces a newly developed methodology and the implemented software, called iExtractor, for the extraction of syntactic and semantic information from NPP procedures utilizing natural language processing (NLP)-based technologies. The steps of the iExtractor integrated with sets of rules and an ontology for NPPs are described in detail with examples. Case study results of the iExtractor applied to selected procedures of a U.S. commercial NPP are also introduced. It is shown that the iExtractor can provide overall comprehension of the analyzed procedures and indicate parts of procedures that need improvement. The rich information extracted from procedures could be further utilized as a basis for their enhanced management.
The current status of local road pavement management in Jeollabuk-do only relies on the accomplishments of the site construction company's pavement repair and is only managed through Microsoft Excel and word documents. Furthermore, the budget is irregular each year. Accordingly, a systematic maintenance plan for local roads is necessary. In this paper, data related to road damage and road environment were collected and processed to derive possible areas which could suffer from road damage. The effectiveness of the methodology was reviewed through the on-site inspection of the area. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in 2018, the number of damages on general national roads were about 47,000. In 2019, it reached around 38,000. Furthermore, the number of lawsuits regarding the road damages were about 93 in 2018 and it increased to 119 in 2019. In the case of national roads, the number of damages decreased compared to 2018 due to pavement repairs. To measure the priorities in maintenance of local roads at Jeollabuk-do, data on maintenance history, local port hole occurrence site, overlapping business section, and emergency maintenance section were transformed into data. Eventually, it led to improvements in maintenance of local roads. Furthermore, spatial data were constructed using various current status data related to roads, and finally the data was processed into a new form that could be utilized in machine learning and predictions. Using the spatial data, areas requiring maintenance on pavement were predicted and the results were used to establish new budgets and policies on road management.
As companies introduced ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems since the middle of 1990s, the databases of the companies has become centralized and gigantic. The companies are now developing data-mining based applications on those centralized and gigantic databases for knowledge management. Almost of them are using $Pro^*C$/C++, a embedded SQL programming language, and it's because the $Pro^*C$/C++ is independent of platforms and also fast. However, they suffer from difficulties in development and maintenance due to the characteristics of corporate databases which have intrinsically large number of tables and fields. The purpose of this research is to design and implement a methodology which makes it easier to develop and maintain embedded SQL applications based on relational databases. Firstly, this article analyzes the syntax of $Pro^*C$/C++ and addresses the concept of repetition and duplication which causes the difficulties in development and maintenance of corporate information systems. Then, this article suggests a management architecture of source codes and databases in which a preprocessor generates $Pro^*C$/C++ source codes by referring a DB table specification, which would solve the problem of repetition and duplication. Moreover, this article also suggests another architecture of DB administration in which the preprocessor generates DB administration commands by referring the same table specification, which would solve the problem of repetition and duplication again. The preprocessor, named $PrePro^*C$, has been developed under the UNIX command-line prompt environment to preprocess $Pro^*C$/C++ source codes and SQL administration commands, and is under update to be used in another DB interface environment like ODBC and JDBC, too.
CSP(Concurrent Spare Parts) is supplied with the procurement of new equipment or weapon system and is used to sustain the equipment without resupply during the initial coverage period. This study is concerned with a problem of determining the near optimal inventory level of the spare parts, especially Concurrent Spare Parts. For this, we utilize the mixed periodic and continuous review polices considering the CSP and (r,Q) Policies concurrently in a two-echelon distribution system. We propose the mathematical model to minimize the total cost which is composed with ordering cost, purchasing cost, holding cost, and stickout cost. If the mixed policy is compared to other policies(CSP, (r,Q)), the proposed methodology performs well and is best policy in the equipment maintenance expenses.
It is noteworthy that IMT -2000 communication network based on All-HP/AIN(Advanced Intelligent Network) should accomodate current and future wire/wireless AIN service easily through integration and gearing AIN construction elements. In this paper. Intelligent Farmer model(I-Farmer Model) and methodology are suggested in order to solve the several problems including standardization on implementation of Q3 interface in Telecommunication Management Network(TMN) agents which is caused by heterogeneous platform environment and future maintenance. Also this paper proposes ITI algorithm transforming the system which is designed by I-Farmer model to Interface Specification Model(ISM) applying the I-Farmer model. In addition to ITI algorithm. we suggest NTS(Node to SIB) algorithm converting entity node and ILB/OLB component in agent system designed by the I-Farmer model to SIB of AIN GFP(Global Functional Plane) and to ASIB for application program.
