  • SMC(Soft Magnetic Composite) materials which we have newly developed were studied for their applying effects. It shows almost the same motor output power as the laminated Si-steels of 0.35mm in thickness, although core loss of SMC is about 1.5 times that of the laminations. As shown in the results, the SMC motor core is sufficient for real use as a motor core. Furthermore, a 3-D shaped motor core made of SMC can improve approximately 20% of the output compared with the same size motor made of laminations.

  • The effects of heat-treatment with magnetic or non-magnetic field on magnetic properties of gas-atomized MPP dust cores subjected to various cooling processes after annealing were investigated. Upon magnetic-field annealing, ac permeability and core loss decreased with the increase of cooling rate, which were attributed to the generation of inhomogeneous internal stress and anomalous eddy current loss, respectively. It was not observed the formation of ordered phase and the related change in magnetic properties at the cooling stage for MPP dust cores. In MPP alloys, magnetic anisotropy was easily induced through the directional order, and permeability and core loss were changed under the conditions of low cooling rate and magnetic annealing.

  • When converters operate in megahertz range, the passive components and magnetic devices generate high losses. However, the eddy current issues and choices of magnetic cores significantly affect on the design stage. Apart from that, the components' reduction, miniaturization technique and frequency scaling are required as well as improvement in thermal capability, integration technique, circuit topologies and PCB layout optimization. In transformer design, the winding and core losses give great attention to the design stage. From simulation work, it is found that E-25066 material manufactured by AVX could be the most suitable core for high frequency transformer design. By employing planar geometry topology, the material can generate significant power loss savings of more than 67% compared to other materials studied in this work. Furthermore, young researchers can use this information to develop new approaches based on concepts, issues and methodology in the design of magnetic components for high frequency applications.

  • Nano Fe-6.5wt%Si powders have been synthesized by mechano-chemical process (MCP) for an application of soft magnetic core. Owing to hard and brittle characteristics of Fe-6.5Si nano powders having large surface area, it is very difficult to reach high density more than 70% of theoretical density (~7.4 g/$cm_3$) by cold compaction. To overcome such problem a magnetic pulsed compaction (MPC), which is one of dynamic compaction techniques, was applied. The green density was achieved about 78% (~5.8 g/$cm_3$) by MPC at room temperature.

  • This paper represents solenoid design of control valve for incline angle control in variable compressor. Some theoretical and numerical analysis were performed to analyse solenoid and compared with experimental results. Maxwell program was used for numerical analysis. Through redesigns of housing body, plunger, core, and disk in control valve, the needed force was gotten. Reduction of core groove and housing body air-gap had a large influence on magnetic force. But increasing of disk thickness had little effect on magnetic force. Control valve efficiency could be improved through solenoid redesign.

  • The foundation for the theoretical establishment of the linear motor lies in the investigation of the magnetic flux distribution in its airgaps. Generally speaking, the linear motor is similar, in the principle of its operation, to the general induction motor. However, there are great differences in the aspects of its structure and characteristics, especially, in the fact that the formation of its travelling magnetic field depends on the method of its winding. This paper is written in order to introduce the method of calculating the air gap magnetic flux distribution on the basis of its ampere-conductor in the case that 2 phase winding is applied on its open magnetic circuit iron core, and to present the results of investigation of the pulsation in its travelling fields. the first and second example of winding show the case of travelling magnetic field with the constant amplitude except the end region. The third example deals with the configuration of coil-side displaced outside the core and which produce the increased flux density at the ends, but, on the contrary, forms the pulsated travelling field.

  • The B-fields in Star-forming Region Observations (BISTRO) is a large program of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) to study the roles of magnetic fields in molecular clouds on intermediate scales (a few thousands au or larger scales), in which a large number of researchers over the world are involved. This project was initiated in 2016 with polarimetric observations of nearby star-forming regions and has been extended toward massive and farther regions (BISTRO-2) and various evolutionary stages and environmental conditions (BISTRO-3). The current status of the BISTRO projects is reported. In addition, we discuss magnetic fields in the Serpens Main molecular cloud, which is one of the BISTRO star-forming regions. Utilizing the Histogram of Relative Orientations method, which compares polarization directions with density gradients, we show that magnetic fields are parallel to filaments in less dense filamentary structures but perpendicular to dense ones. Furthermore, the magnetic field directions with respect to density gradients vary again with density in denser core regions, which is understood by core formation and pinched fields. Note: (PI) D. • This paper presents a design procedure of an integrated inductor with a magnetic core for power converters. This procedure considerably reduces design time and effort. The proposed design procedure is verified by the development of an inductor model dedicated to the monolithic integration of DC-DC converters for portable applications. The numerical simulation based on the FEM (finite elements method) shows that 3D modeling of the integrated inductor allows better estimation of the electrical parameters of the desired inductor. The optimization of the electrical parameter values is based on the numerical analysis of the influence of the geometric parameters on the electrical characteristics of the inductor. Using the VHDL-AMS language, implementation of the integrated inductor in a micro Buck converter demonstrate that simulation results present a very promising approach for the monolithic integration of DC-DC converters.
