  • This paper presents the analysis and the design of IPMSM for high speed limit with constant torque. The characteristics of IPMSM are calculated by using d-q equivalent circuit having the parameters, such as current phase angle, d-q axis inductances, effective turns. These parameters affect the output characteristics. In this paper, the improved IPMSM to widen the operating speed limit are designed by the results.

  • This paper deals with design parameters deduction and analysis of hybrid magnetic bearing. Using the solutions obtained from equivalent magnetic circuit, we predict the electromagnetic characteristics from permanent magnet and electromagnet and obtain the initial parameters. And then, using non-linear finite element analysis, a detailed design is performed considering saturation and asymmetry of flux density at the surface in order to meet requirements.

  • In this paper, by designing the width of the stator coil, double sided excitation LDM with multi-separated winding which is possible to obtain the constant thrust force is proposed. Using Permeance method, equvalent magnetic circuit method, Maxwell 2D, which is the magnetic field analysis package, we were analyzed and proved the validity of design process, also the characteristics of LDM according to magnet vs. coil width ratio of LDM was almost in accord with the experiment results.

  • This paper deals with the design of transverse flux linear actuator based on the proposed design procedure. To satisfy requirement specifications, the initial model is designed by the equivalent magnet circuit and then the detailed design is achieved by Finite Element Method(FEM) using the equivalent reluctance 2D model. The effects of the design parameter on the static characteristics are investigated to increase the thrust.

Thermal Analysis of IPMSM with Water Cooling Jacket for Railway Vehicles

  • In this paper, the water cooling method among the forced coolant cooling methods is considered to be applied to the 110kW-class IPMSM for railway vehicles. First, basic thermal property analysis of the IPMSM is conducted using the three-dimensional thermal equivalent network method. Then, based on the results of the basic thermal property analysis, some design requirements for the water cooling jacket are deduced and a basic design of the water cooling jacket is carried out. Finally, thermal equivalent circuit of the water cooling jacket is attached to the IPMSM's 3D thermal equivalent network and then, the basic thermal and effectiveness analysis are conducted for the case of applying the water cooling jacket to the IPMSM. In the future, the thermal variation trends inside the IPMSM by the application of the water cooling jacket is expected to be quickly and easily predicted even at the design step of the railway traction motor.

  • Power conversion system for a magnetically levitated vehicle consists of propulsion inverter to drive linear motor, levitation chopper to drive magnet and power source unit. This paper presents the characteristics of power conversion system in prototype Maglev system. In order to improve performance of electrical equipment IGBT is adopted in a main circuit. Audible noise is reduced to below 60 dB and size is also reduced to 1/3. This system is verified through experiment.

  • This paper presents the static thrust of a hybid-type LPM by coenergy method. First, the nonlinealities of the permanent magnet, the primary core and the secondary are interpolated by the cubic spline method. Then the equivalent magnetic circuit including airgap reluctance, which is a function of displacement, modelled by the permeance method is obtained. From the derivative of coenergy with displacement computed by Newton Raphson method, the static thrust is calculated at each displacement with certain exciting current.

  • 고성능 영구자석의 보급이 활발해지면서 기존 유도 전동기와 같이 상용전원에서 구동이 가능하고 동기전동기의 특성을 갖는 고효율 유도기동성 영구자석 전동기에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 유도기동성 영구자석 전동기는 회전자에 알루미늄 바와 영구자석이 설치되어 유도기의 원리로 기동이 되며 정상 속도에서는 동기 전동기의 특성을 갖게 된다. 이때 동기속도로 인입되는가의 여부를 판별하기 위한 기동 특성 해석은 매우 중요하다. 이러한 유도 기동성 영구자석 전동기의 기동시 특성을 해석하기 위해서는 종래의 유도 전동기의 과도 특성 해석 방법에 영구자석에 의한 영향을 고려해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 등가회로 해석 방법을 이용하여 유도 기동성 영구자석 전동기의 기동시의 특성을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of a linear brushless DC(BLDC) motor with permanent magnet excitation for the precision conveyor according to the load condition. In order to investigate the accurate dynamic performance of tile linear BLDC motor driving with 6 step inverter- fed, finite element techniques coupling with external circuit models, together with the simultaneous simulation of motion of the mover system, arc proposed. The results of finite element analysis arc compared to the experimental ones.

  • The claw-pole PM(Permanent Magnet) stepping motor has the advantage of the positioning machine because of a relatively little step angle, facility of control, and detent torque characteristics. Although the research about this motor has been progressed, it was difficult to analyze because of three-dimensional magnetic circuit. This paper proposed a design method of the claw-pole PM stepping motor using 3D-FEA. We established design variables that have an important effect upon the characteristics of the motor, and then peformed analysis of the static and the dynamic characteristics. We also manufactured the test products and practiced the performance tests for verification of the analysis results.
