대형 공작기계용 칩 처리시스템 설계 및 커터 해석 (Analysis of Cutter and Design of Chip Processing System for Large Scale Machine Tool)

  • The demands of the large scale machine tools, for instance, such as planomiller, turning machine, boring machine, NC machine, have been gradually increased in recent years. As the performances of machine tools and/or cutting tools are advanced, it is possible to perform high-speed and high-precision cutting works. The effective treatment of wet chip, which is discharged from cutting works, becomes very important problems. Therefore, this study is forced on the design of large scale machine tools using CATIA V5R18 and analysis of cutter, which is considered as essential equipment in large scale machine tools, using MSC.Nastran & MSC.Patran. Especially, the relations between tolerated load of cutter, driving horse power and rpm of driving shaft in chip processing system are investigated through analysis. As the results, the reliability of design could be improved by evaluating simulated numerical values, it showed that tolerated loads of supported part and edged part of cutter are 87,000N and 14,450N, respectively.

공작기계 열변형의 실험적 보정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Experimental Compensation of Thermal Deformation in Machine Tools)

  • Thermally induced errors of machine tools have been recognized as one of the most important issues in precision machining. This is probably the most formidable obstacle to obtain high level of machining accuracy. To this regard, the experimental compensation methodologies such as software-based method or origin shift of machine tool axes have been suggested. In this research, to cope with thermal deformation, a model based correction was carried out with the function of an external machine coordinate shift. Models with multi-linear regression or neural network were investigated to selected a good one for thermal compensation. Consequently, multi-linear regression model combined with origin shift was verified good enough form the machining of dot matrices of plate with ball end milling.

  • In order to remain competitive, a manufacturing company needs to maintain the optimal condition of its manufacturing system. Machine tools as an important element of a manufacturing system consist of complex mechanical as well as electronic components. Therefore, diagnosing the troubles of machine tools is a tricky process which requires a lot of experience and knowledge. Since providing machine tool users with necessary services at the right time is very difficult and expensive, a remote diagnosis system is to be regarded as a good alternative, with which users can diagnose and fix the machine troubles. This paper presents a framework for a remote machine tools diagnosis system by combining the world wide web technology and backward reasoning expert system.

  • Interactive Measuring part Program Generating Tools (IMPPGT) realized on the FANUC 15MA using touch trigger probes and interactive macro functions os the CNC were developed for an intelligent measuring and inspection systems on the machine tools. Menu driven measuring and inspection functions of the IMPPGT were studied and implemented on the CNC through the macro executer and ROM writer. In order to automate measurement and inspection procedures in machine shops measuring G Code system was also proposed. Using the developed measuring G Code system on the machine tool untended measurement and inspection operation was able to be realized in FMS lines.

  • In this paper, main mechanism and measurement method of energy consumption for machine tools are investigated by experiment and simulation. To evaluate total energy consumption of the machine tools, standard test workpiece and measuring method and test procedures are suggested. And, improvement of energy consumption evaluation by the motion kinematics theory is used. In addition, to estimate energy consumption of machine tools in design process, mass distribution of the structure and 5 axis motions are investigated and simulated by numerical analysis.

  • The grinding process is replacing lapping and etching process because significant cost savings and performance improvemnets is possible. This paper presents the experimental results of wafer grinding. A three-variable two-level full factorial design was employed to reveal the main effects as well as the interaction effects of three process parameters such as wheel rotational speed, chuck table rotational speed and feed rate on TTV and STIR of wafers. The chuck table rotaional speed was a significant factor and the interaction effects was significant. The ground wafer shape was affected by surface shape of chuck table.

  • Reconfigurability of machine tools is one of the critical factors to realize the responsive manufacturing systems to satisfy the mass customization production. This paper presents the methods to model the reconfigurable machine tools (RMTs) on Internet in response to change in the machining requirements. Specifically, the structure and motion model of machine tools using module combination rules and connectivity graph are developed. And we developed Internet-based simulator for designing of RMTs (ISD-RMT). In response to the user requirements, various structures of RMTs can be derived using the module combination rules and connectivity graph relationships. In addition, the user can verify generating structures through the control and simulation procedures.

  • The accuracy of the machine tools is degraded because of thermal error of structure due to thermal variation. To improve the accuracy of a machine tools, measurement and prediction of thermal error is very important. The main part of thermal source is spindle due to high speed with friction. The thermal error of spindle is very important because it is over 10% in total thermals errors. In this paper, the suitable thermal error prediction technology for machine tools with open architecture controller is developed and implemented to machine tools. Two thermal error prediction technologies, neural network and multi-linear regression, are investigated in several methods. The multi-linear regression method is more effective for implementation to CNC. The developed thermal error prediction technology is implemented on the internal function of CNC.

  • This paper presented a linear motion accuracy by using two-dimensional probe with the master block and the square for NC machine tools. This measuring system could be measured motion error due to numerical control system. The results of measurement and simulation for motion error were similar, and so, this system had enough accuracy to measure a linear motion accuracy for NC machine tools. The experimental results are as follows. 1. This measuring system could be measured motion error due to mumerical control system. 2. The results of measurement and simulation for motion error were similar. 3. This measuring system had enough accuracy to measure a linear motion accuracy for NC machine tools.

  • To meet the requirements for accuracy, productivity and reliability of machine tools, it is necessary to evaluate the chatter-free machining performance and to improve the dynamic performance of machine tools. In order to perform dynamic design of machine tools reasonably and effectively, the joint parts must be modelled accurately because their characteristics affect significantly on the total characteristics of machine tool. In this paper, an approach which identifies the effect of joint parts on the performance of total machine tool structure was proposed. That uses the experimental modal analysis, the finite element method and the sensitivity analysis method. The effectiveness of this approach was confirmed by applying it to structures with bearing joints. And as a result of the application, the change of dynamic characteristics of bearing joints was indentified.
