  • This study includes noise automatic inspection system for washing machine auto-transmission one of modern home necessary. We effort to find and certificate sound noisesource by sound power and sound intensity, and apply to frequency analysis in vibration related sound noise. Still more we have been studying to data acquisition and programming for MS VisualBasic version 5.0. System component is below. 1) Pentium PC for data acquisition. 2) DSO for noise acquisition. 3) S/W for comparison and decision. 4) I/F Board for data communication. Wave form data through the DSO are converting to ASCII code data. The ASCII code through binary converting S/W are to be decision fitness or the badness comparison S/W. Finally, we will making noise monitoring system and automatic inspection system.

다물체 동역학을 활용한 공작기계 구조물 이송을 위한 메카트로닉 해석 (Mechatronic Analysis for Feeding a Structure of a Machine Tool Using Multi-body Dynamics)

  • In this study, a rigid multi-body dynamic model has been developed for mechatronic analysis to evaluate dynamic behavior of a machine tool. The development environment was the commercialized analysis tool, ADAMS, for rigid multi-body dynamic analysis. A simplified servo control logic was implemented in the tool using its functions in order to negate any external tool of control definition. The advantage of the internal implementation includes convenience of the analysis process by saving time and efforts. Application of this development to a machine tool helps to evaluate its dynamic behavior against feeding its component, to calculate the motor torque, and to optimize parameters of the control logic.

공작기계용 고속 볼베어링의 최적 끼워맞춤에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimum Shrink-fit for High Speed Ball Bearing of Machine Tool)

  • The spindle is the main component in machine tools. To develop high speed machine tools, a lot of studies have been carried out for high speed spindle. Bearing is very important part in spindle. The bearing clearance is influenced by shrink fit and thermal expansion during operation. The designer must take into account the reduction of shrink fits. The aims of this study are to grasp the shrink fits and behavior of a bearing which is a deeply connected with fatigue life of bearing and performance of spindle through FEM(Finite Element Method). This paper proposed optimum value of shrink fit considering deformation of spindle and stress of fitting area using design of experiments. Thus, the proposed formula can be used to obtain bearing internal clearance.

  • Reconfiguration, expansion, or new establishment of FMS requires the availability of a shop floor control (SFC) system relevant to the FMS since it is closely related with the hardware component of FMS. Due to the expensive cost of its development, significant research efforts have been made to develop an SFC system that is reusable. This paper presents Abstract Machine Tool (AMT) approach applied to develop an SFC sytem that is reusable without additional programming. The AMT model enables us to design the SFC system independently of the hardware-dependent attributes of euqipment; an AMT models a workstation by abstraction and presents an equipment-independent interface to machining cell controller. Specifically, we describe how we formalize the interfaces among equipment in order to build an AMT and how we design the machining cell control software based on AMT models. We also present MACHINIST the machining cell control system for IAE-FMS plant as an implementation example.

농어촌 동력용 전동기구를 위한 단상/3상변환기의 개발에 관한 연구 (Study on single/three phase converter for motor applications of rural district)

  • This study is initiated to solve the problem that the development of an electric machine to drive heavy horse-power load required in the rural district, where only single phase supply is available, is very urgent. As a method for this purpose, the single/three phase converter by single phase induction machine with a tapped auxiliary winding, running unloaded mechanically under single-phase source and supplying three-phase output to a loaded 3-phase induction motor, is devised and the pilot machine is put into test. Analysis based on hybrid equivalent circuit for the phase converter and symmertical component theory for the 3-phase load motor and practical experiment result in that optimum auxiliary winding ratio is to be 1.25 rather than theoretical .root.3/2 in order to keep the voltage unbalance ratio of 3-phase output from the converter as low as possible in both cases of starting and running the load motor.

An Assignment-Balance-Optimization Algorithm for Minimizing Production Cycle Time of a Printed Circuit Board Assembly Line

  • This paper deals with the cycle time minimization problem that determines the productivity in printed circuit board (PCB) with n components using the m placement machines. This is known as production cycle time determination problem (PCTDP). The polynomial time algorithm to be obtain the optimal solution has been unknown yet, therefore this hard problem classified by NP-complete. This paper gets the initial assignment result with the machine has minimum unit placement time per each component firstly. Then, the balancing process with reallocation from overhead machine to underhead machine. Finally, we perform the swap optimization and get the optimal solution of cycle time $T^*$ within O(mn) computational complexity. For experimental data, the proposed algorithm can be obtain the same result as integer programming+branch-and-bound (IP+B&B) and B&B.

Sensor placement strategy for high quality sensing in machine health monitoring

  • This paper presents a systematic investigation of the effect of sensor location on the data quality and subsequently, on the effectiveness of machine health monitoring. Based on an analysis of the signal propagation process from the defect location to the sensor, numerical simulations using finite element modeling were conducted on a bearing test bed to determine the signal strength at several representative sensor locations. The results showed that placing sensors closely to the machine component being monitored is critical to achieving high signal-to-noise ratio, thus improving the data quality. Using millimeter-sized piezoceramic plates, the obtained results were evaluated experimentally. A comparison with a set of commercial vibration sensors verified the developed structural dynamics-based sensor placement strategy. It further demonstrated that the proposed shock wave-based sensing technique provided an effective alternative to vibration measurement, while requiring less space for sensor installation.

Bi-spectrum for identifying crack and misalignment in shaft of a rotating machine

  • Bi-spectrum is a tool in the signal processing for identification of non-linear dynamic behvaiour in systems, and well-known for stationary system where components are non-linearly interacting. Breathing of a crack during shaft rotation is also exhibits a non-linear behaviour. The crack is known to generate 2X (twice the machine RPM) and higher harmonics in addition to 1X component in the shaft response during its rotation. Misaligned shaft also shows similar such feature as a crack in a shaft. The bi-spectrum method has now been applied on a small rotating rig to observe its features. The bi-spectrum results are found to be encouraging to distinguish these faults based on few experiments conducted on a small rig. The results are presented here.

VDI Turret의 신뢰도 예측 (Reliability Prediction for VDI Turret)

  • Recently, the reliability are applied for many industrial products, and many products are required to guarantee in quality and in performance. The purpose of this paper is to present some of reliability prediction methodologies using failure rate database for machinery parts that are applicable to machine tools. VDI Turret, which is core component of the NC Lathe, was chosen as the target of the reliability prediction. The results of reliability prediction has shown the failure rate, MTBF(Mean Time Between Failure), and reliability of the VDI Turret. It is expected that proposed methodologies will be applicable to prediction of reliability for other components of machine tools.

  • The fractional slot windings are widely used in rotating machine in order to increase the flexibility of design and improve the voltage waveform. However, the MMF wave of fractional-slot windings are found to contain unique harmonic component, which are designated as even order space flux harmonics, fractional number flux harmonics, or both. They may cause stray loss and stator core vibration. This paper proposes new winding methods "novel interspersed windings" and "expanded group windings" to reduce these harmonics. The advantages of two proposed windings are verified by using numerical analysis and measurement test of winding model.
