  • The clamp mode Zero-Volatge-Switched Multi-Resonant-Converter(ZVS-MRC) is proposed. In the converter, the performance of the conventional ZVS-MRC is improved by clamping the drain-to-source voltage of the power switch using a soft switching nondissipative active clamp network. The analysis for each stage of the converter operation modes is presented and is verified by experiments.

  • In this paper, we proposed the alternated forward zero voltage switching multi-resonant Converter (AT Forward ZVS MRC). The AT forward ZVS MRC has similar characteristics with clamp mode forward ZVS MRC. So it can reduce the voltage stress to tow or three times a input density [W/inch2]. The proposed converter type is verified through the experimental converter with 48V input voltage, 5V/50W output voltage/power. The measured maximum voltage stress is 170V of 2.9 times the input voltage and the maximum efficiency of 81.66% is measured.

  • 오늘날 무선통신시스템은 제한된 주파수 자원을 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 다양한 기술이 적용되어 있다. 적응변조기법은 현재 채널 상황에 적응하여 적절한 변조방식을 선택하는 방법으로 통신시스템의 수율(throughput)을 높일 수 있어 대부분의 무선통신 시스템에서 사용되고 있다. 변조 선택의 기준으로는 보통 현 채널의 신호대간섭비(SNR)가 사용되며, 채널의 통계적 특성을 이용하면 변조 선택을 위한 SNR 경계 결정을 최적화시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 송신단에서 안테나 선택을 하고 (transmit antenna selection) 수신단에서 MRC(maximal-ratio combining)를 사용하는 TAS/MRC 시스템에서 적응변조기법을 적용했을 때, 변조 선택을 위한 SNR 경계 결정법을 살펴보고 그 성능을 분석한다.

Performance analysis of MRC Diversity system for Detection of M-ary Signals on Rician Fading channel

  • The purpose of this paper is to theoretically analysis of performance of MRC diversity for detection of M-ary signals on the Rician fading channels. To do it, the difference between the approximation to bit error probability and the exact bit error rate (BER) in evaluating the performance of MPSK signals is investigated by numerical analyses. In addition, the performance evaluation of MDPSK signals in the independent branch diversity is performed by an integral-form expression in case of when MDPSK signal in MRC system is experiencing the Rician fading.

  • 최근 ISI(intersymbol interference)를 제거하는 성형 펄스로 BTRC(better than raised-cosine), MRC(mirrored raised-cosine), 그리고 TPZD(trapezoidal) 등이 제안되었다. 본 연구에서는 동일채널 간섭신호가 존재하는 환경에서 BTRC, MRC, TPZD, 그리고 RC(raised-cosine) 성형 펄스를 적용한 무선통신 시스템들의 성능을 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 비교 분석하였다. 실험 결과, 필터의 길이가 심볼 길이의 3이하로 짧은 경우에는 사용된 성형 필터에 따른 성능차이가 있으며, MRC 필터가 가장 우수한 성능을 가지고 RC 필터가 가장 열화된 성능을 가짐을 관찰하였다. 그러나 필터의 길이가 충분히 확보된 경우에는 성능의 차이는 거의 없었다. 그러므로 하드웨어의 제약으로 인하여 필터의 길이를 길게 할 수 없는 시스템에서는 MRC 필터를 성형 필터로 적용하는 것이 바람직하다고 판단된다.

Evolutionary Algorithm-based Space Diversity for Imperfect Channel Estimation

  • In space diversity combining, conventional methods such as maximal ratio combining (MRC), equal gain combining (EGC) and selection combining (SC) are commonly used to improve the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) provided that the channel is perfectly estimated at the receiver. However, in practice, channel estimation is often imperfect and this indeed deteriorates the system performance. In this paper, diversity combining techniques based on two evolutionary algorithms, namely genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are proposed and compared. Numerical results indicate that the proposed methods outperform the conventional MRC, EGC and SC methods when the channel estimation is imperfect while it shows similar performance as that of MRC when the channel is perfectly estimated.

Performance Improvement of DS-CDMA BPSK/QPSK in the Presence of Phase Estimation Error in the Rician Fading Channel (라이시안 페이딩 채널에서 위상 추정 에러가 있는 DS-CDMA BPSK/QPSK 신호의 성능 개선)

  • In this paper, we improve error performance for BPSK and QPSK when the carrier recovery signal is not perfect in the multipath Rician fading channel based on DS-CDMA system. In the case, we use the MRC(Maximal Ratio Combining) diversity and convolutional coding technique in order to overcome this carrier phase error and Rician fading. With results of analysis, we know that the appropriate use of MRC diversity and convolutional code reduced considerably performance degradation due to phase error.
