Implementation of Uniform Deformation Theory in semi-active control of structures using fuzzy controller

  • Protection of structures against natural hazards such as earthquakes has always been a major concern. Semi-active control combines the reliability of passive control and versatility and adaptability of active control. So it has recently become a preferred control method. This paper proposes an algorithm based on Uniform Deformation Theory to mitigate vulnerable buildings using magneto-rheological (MR) damper. Due to the successful performance of fuzzy logic in control of systems and its simplicity and intrinsically robustness, it is used here to regulate MR dampers. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is also used as an adaptive method to develop a fuzzy control algorithm that is able to create uniform inter-story drifts. Results show that the proposed algorithm exhibited a desirable performance in reducing both linear and nonlinear seismic responses of structures. Performance of the presented method is indicated in compare with passive-on and passive-off control algorithms.

  • Compressed sensing은 기존의 Nyquist sampling 이론에 기반을 두었던 dynamic MRI에서의 시 공간 해상도의 제한을 획기적으로 향상시킴으로써, 최근 몇 년 사이, MR reconstruction 분야에서 가장 큰 이슈가 되고 있는 연구주제이다. Dynamic MRI 는 대부분 시간방향의 redundancy 가 매우 크므로, 쉽게 sparse 변환이 가능하다. 따라서 sparsity를 기본 조건으로 하는 compressed sensing은 거의 모든 dynamic MRI 에 대해 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다. 본 review 페이퍼에서는 최근 compressed sensing 에 기반을 두거나 영상의 sparsity를 이용하여 개발된 dynamic MR imaging algorithm 들을 간략히 소개하고, 비교 분석함으로써, compressed sensing과 같은 새로운 접근 방식의 dynamic MRI가 실제 임상에서 가져다 줄 발전 가능성을 제시한다.

  • 본 논문은 DC 모터와 MR(magnetorheological) 브레이크를 갖는 하이브리드 구동기의 제어 방법을 제안한다 로봇을 포함하여 여러 영역에서 이용되는 DC 모터는 대표적인 능동형구동기로 중량 대비 출력 이 작고, 출력한계로 인해 어느 정도 이상의 제어 이득에서 힘 제어 특성이 불안정해지는 성질이 있다. 따라서 이러한 DC 모터의 제어 불안정성을 해결하고, 투명성을 높이기 위해 반능동형 구동기인 MR 브레이크를 DC 모터와 병렬로 연결한 하이브리드 구동기를 제안하고 이에 대하여 네트워크 이론에 기반을 둔 제어 방법을 제안한다. 입력전류의 방향에 따라 스스로 출력을 내는 DC 모터와는 달리 MR 브레이크는 입력전류의 부호가 바뀌는 것에 상관없이 외부의 부하와 반대의 출력을 내는 것이 그 특징이다. 이러한 MR 브레이크의 성질을 수동적이라 하고 네트워크 이론의 수동성을 이용한 하이브리드 구동기의 힘 제어 방법을 제안하고 실험을 통해 이의 성능과 안정성을 입증하였다.

MR마운트 진동제어 성능 향상을 위한 슬라이딩 모드 제어 (Sliding Mode Control for Improving Performance of Mount with MR(Magneto-Rheological) Fluid)

  • This paper deals with vibration control of a small mount with MR(Magneto-Rheological) fluid as a functional fluid mount for precision equipment of automobiles. Damping and stiffness coefficients of the mount with MR fluid are changed by variations of the applied magnetic field strength. We present the robust control scheme, based on a conventional sliding mode control theory, for the design of a stable controller that is capable of vibration control due to various disturbances such as impact and periodic excitations, and is insensitive to dynamic properties of the mount. We got stable controller by using Lyapunov stability theory. The controller is then realized by using a semi-active control condition in simulations. Chattering problem of the sliding mode control is eliminated by saturation function instead of signum function. The sliding mode control with Lyapunov stability theory is superior to passive and Sky-Hook control in performance.

The MR damper was modeled as Spencer model that can capture nonlinear and hysteretic behavior. The parameters of the Spencer model were extracted from a random excitation test and optimum treatment of the test data. Then, a suspension control algorithm based on Sky-hook theory was applied for the quarter car simulation. Also, an experiment was dong using a quarter car simulator to confirm the simulation results with the Spencer MR damper model

  • The magneto-rheological (MR) damper contributes to the new technology of structural vibration control. Its developments and applications have been paid significant attentions in earthquake engineering in recent years. Due to the shortages, however, inherent in deterministic control schemes where only several observed seismic accelerations are used as the trivial input and in classical stochastic optimal control theory with assumption of white noise process, the derived control policy cannot effectively accommodate the performance of randomly base-excited engineering structures. In this paper, the experimental and analytical studies on stochastic seismic response control of structures with specifically designed MR dampers are carried out. The random ground motion, as the base excitation posing upon the shaking table and the design load used for structural control system, is represented by the physically based stochastic ground motion model. Stochastic response analysis and reliability assessment of the tested structure are performed using the probability density evolution method and the theory of extreme value distribution. It is shown that the seismic response of the controlled structure with MR dampers gain a significant reduction compared with that of the uncontrolled structure, and the structural reliability is obviously strengthened as well.

  • 건축 및 토목 구조물의 진동 제어분야에서 중앙집중식 제어방식은 주어진 목표응답수준을 만족시키기 위해서 전력공급, 센서, 그리고 감쇠기 등을 포함하는 복잡한 제어시스템을 구축하고 유지하는 노력이 필요하고, 구조물 유한요소모델의 큰차수, 모델의 불확실성, 가력장치의 제한 등의 이유로 적용성의 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 센서 혹은 컴퓨터없이 준능동 MR 감쇠기가 설치된 층만의 정보에 의해 제어력이 생성되는 분산제어식 응답의존형 MR 감쇠기가 제안하였다. 제안된 분산제어식 응답의존형 MR 감쇠기는 구조물의 층전단력에 대한 가변마찰력 크기 비의 변화에 따라 지진하중을 받는 구조물의 제어성능이 수동인 경우와 비선형 시간이력해석을 통해 비교 평가되었다. 마지막으로 일반 제어이론에서 널리 이용되는 중앙집중식 LQR 알고리듬과 본 논문에서 제안된 분산제어식 응답의존형 MR감쇠기가 3층 전단형 구조물을 대상으로 수치해석을 통해 비교 평가됨으로써 제안된 알고리즘의 유효성을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, the efficacy of the MR damper-based control systems for vibration suppression of stay cables has been experimentally investigated. The performance of the several control strategies for the semiactive control system, such as the clipped-optimal control, the Lyapunov stability theory-based control, the maximum energy dissipation and the modulated homogeneous friction, has been compared with that of the passive-type control systems employing MR dampers. To do this, the full-scale stay cable, which is the same as used for the in-service cable-stayed bridge in Korea, is considered. The acceleration and the displacement of the stay cable as well as the damping force of the MR damper are measured. The velocity of the cable at the damper location, which is needed for some control algorithms, is obtained by differentiating the measured displacement. The damping ratios of the cable system employing the MR damper, which can be estimated by the Hilbert transform-based method, shows effectiveness of each control strategy considered.

  • In this study, the steering control system for UCT (unmanned container transporter) was developed using MR (Magnetoresistive) sensors. The MR and magnet sensors are used for the lane detecting system. The robust control theory is used for the design of the steering controller to reduce the uncertainties of the road. The performance of the robust steering controller is compared in simulations and tests using the existing PD controller of the UCT.
