In this paper, we propose a visual accessibility technique in an MPEG-21 framework. In particular, MPEG-21 visual accessibility for the colored-visual resource of a digital item is proposed to give better accessibility of color information to people with color vision deficiency (CVD). We propose an adaptation system for CVD as well as a description of CVD in MPEG-21. To verify the usefulness of the proposed method, computer simulations with CVD and color adaptation were performed. Furthermore, a statistical experiment was performed using volunteers with CVD in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed visual accessibility technique in MPEG-21. Both the experimental and simulation results show that the proposed adaptations technique can provide better color information, particularly to people with CVD.

컴퓨터화의 새로운 페러다임으로 유비쿼터스는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅과 유비쿼터스 네트워크를 기반으로 물리공간을 지능화함과 동시에 물리공간에 펼쳐진 각종 컨텐츠들을 네트워크로 연결시키는 노력으로 정의할 수 있다. 이러한 유비쿼터스 환경에 발맞추어 모든 물리공간에서 펼쳐진 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 역시 네트워크로 연결시키는 노력의 산물로 MPEG-21 표준화작업이 시작되었다. MPEG-21에서의 이벤트 리포팅 기술요소는 MPEG-21 내에서 발생하는 모든 이벤트 및 상호작용에 대한 표준적인 측정방법과 인터페이스를 제공한다는 점에서 그 중요성을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 새로운 페러다임인 MPEG-21의 7가지 요소 중의 하나인 이벤트 리포팅에 대한 정의와 필요성에 대해 알아보고 이벤트 리포트 요구와 이벤트 리포트로 나뉘는 이벤트 리포팅의 체계를 분석한다. 또한 MPEG-21의 이벤트 리포팅에 대한 표준화 동향을 분석, 설계함으로써 이벤트 리포팅에 대한 향후 표준화 활동 방향을 제시한다.

이벤트 리포팅 기술요소는 MPEG-21 내에서 발생하는 모든 이벤트 및 상호작용에 대한 표준적인 측정방법 및 인터페이스를 제공한다는 점에서 그 중요성을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-21 의 7 가지 주요 요소 중의 하나인 이벤트 리포팅에 대한 정의 및 필요성에 대해 알아보고, 이벤트 리포트 요구 및 이벤트 리포트로 나뉘는 이벤트 리포팅의 체계를 분석한다. 또한 MPEG-21의 이벤트 리포팅에 대한 표준화 동향을 분석하고, 이벤트 리포팅에 대한 향후 표준화 활동 방향을 제시한다.

MPEG-21 has identified the need fur Event Reporting in its vision for an interoperable multimedia framework. Event Reporting is required within the MPEG-21 multimedia framework in order to provide a standardized means for sharing information about Events amongst Peers and Users. Such Events relate to Digital Items and/or Peers that interact with them. Arising from an each Event, there is the opportunity to describe what occurred. However, there are a number of difficulties in providing an accurate report about an Event. Different observers of the Event may have vastly different perspectives, needs, and focuses. They may emphasize certain elements to the detriment of others, or they may describe an Event in a way that others may find confusing. In this paper, we design how to express Event Reporting message structure and system architecture in compliance with ISO/IEC 21000-15. And we implement the system for MPEG-21 Event Reporting service.

Problem of compatibility, contents protection, contents circulation etc. was caused between contents offerer and consumers by indiscreet rights technical development about digital contents. Therefore, MPEG-21 framework proposed the REL(Right Expression Language) based on XML(eXtensible Markup Language) by rights expression language for rights management. We designed and implemented of the REL document editing system that rights creation and edit are available efficiently about contents easily without comprehension of MPEG-21 framework and client system that present consumption method of REL document.

MPEG-IoMT 프로젝트는 미디어 사물 간 미디어 또는 가공된 데이터를 주고 받을 수 있게 제정된 표준으로 MPEG-IoMT 표준을 통해 센서, 분석기 등 다양한 미디어 사물과의 연결로 새로이 가공된 데이터를 만들어 주고 받을 수 있게 된다. 하지만 현재는 사용자가 다른 미디어 사물을 연결하고자 할 때 그 기능을 직접 찾고 설정을 해야하는 불편이 있다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-IoMT 내에 다른 미디어 사물과의 자동적인 연결과 통신이 가능하도록 설정할 수 있는 Setup Information 온톨로지에 대해 제안한다.

Through the activities of MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group), a number of issues have been identified within the scope of IPMP (Intellectual Property Management and Protection). This paper aims to address parts of them in the aspects of overall structure of MPEG-21 IPMP and to result in increasing the understanding of MPEG standardization works. In particular, this paper will address the major issues such as hooks, interoperability, and authentication architecture. Based on the architectures, this paper will explain how the MPEG-21 IPMP works with its components.

MPEG-21 Part 7(Digital Item Adaptation)은 멀티미디어컨텐츠를 사용자 환경 및 사용자 특성에 적응 적으로 활용/소비하기 위한 표준이다. 본 논문에서는, 영상컨텐츠의 적응적 컬러 재생에 관련하여 MPEG-21 DIA 내에서 표준화가 진행중인 조명환경 기술자(Descriptor)와 컬러 선호성 기술자를 소개하고 이들의 활용에 관해 논한다.

최근에 원본 컨텐츠에 부가적인 메타데이터를 워터마크 형식으로 연결시키기 위한 시도들이 많이 있었지만, 이들을 객관적으로 평가하고 비교할 수 있는 표준 도구들이 미미하였다. 이를 위해 MPEG-21 (Moving Picture Expert Group)에서는 멀티미디어 프레임워크 측면에서 이에 대한 방법들을 정의하고, 평가 절차에 대한 표준화를 시도하고 있다. 본 논문은 MPEG-21 에서 논의중인 디지털 컨텐츠와 이에 관련된 메타데이터의 지속적 연결을 위한 기술 평가 방법을 소개한다. 이 기술에 대한 배경, 표준화 현황 및 방향, 기술들의 종류, 응용분야, 기술의 평가 항목 등에 대해 자세히 서술 할 것이다.
