State set estimation based MPC for LPV systems with input constraint

  • This paper considers a state set estimation (SSE) based model predictive control (MPC) for linear parameter- varying (LPV) systems with input constraint. We estimate, at each time instant, a feasible set of all states which are consistent with system model, measurements and a priori information, rather than the state itself. By combining a state-feedback MPC and an SSE, we design an SSE-based MPC algorithm that stabilizes the closed-loop system. The proposed algorithm is solved by semi-de�nite program involving linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is included to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • A torque split type multi-pass CVT(MPC) system consiting of CVT and planetary gear train with 4 clutches was suggested to overcome the inherent inferior acceleration performance of CVT. Also, a shifting algorithm of MPC was suggested for the two driving modes : (1) power mode and (2) economy mode. By using the shifting algorithm and the MPC vehicle dynamic model, numerical simulations were performed to estimate the performance of the MPC vehicle. Simulation results showed that comparing the performance of the conventional 4-speed automatic transmission, an improvement in acceleration can be obtained by MPC for the power mode and 31% improvement in fuel economy for the economy mode.

A Globally Stabilizing Model Predictive Controller for Neutrally Stable Linear Systems with Input Constraints

  • MPC or model predictive control is representative of control methods which are able to handle physical constraints. Closed-loop stability can therefore be ensured only locally in the presence of constraints of this type. However, if the system is neutrally stable, and if the constraints are imposed only on the input, global aymptotic stability can be obtained; until recently, use of infinite horizons was thought to be inevitable in this case. A globally stabilizing finite-horizon MPC has lately been suggested for neutrally stable continuous-time systems using a non-quadratic terminal cost which consists of cubic as well as quadratic functions of the state. The idea originates from the so-called small gain control, where the global stability is proven using a non-quadratic Lyapunov function. The newly developed finite-horizon MPC employs the same form of Lyapunov function as the terminal cost, thereby leading to global asymptotic stability. A discrete-time version of this finite-horizon MPC is presented here. The proposed MPC algorithm is also coded using an SQP (Sequential Quadratic Programming) algorithm, and simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the method.

Simultaneous Control of Frequency Fluctuation and Battery SOC in a Smart Grid using LFC and EV Controllers based on Optimal MIMO-MPC

  • This paper proposes a simultaneous control of frequency deviation and electric vehicles (EVs) battery state of charge (SOC) using load frequency control (LFC) and EV controllers. In order to provide both frequency stabilization and SOC schedule near optimal performance within the whole operating regions, a multiple-input multiple-output model predictive control (MIMO-MPC) is employed for the coordination of LFC and EV controllers. The MIMO-MPC is an effective model-based prediction which calculates future control signals by an optimization of quadratic programming based on the plant model, past manipulate, measured disturbance, and control signals. By optimizing the input and output weights of the MIMO-MPC using particle swarm optimization (PSO), the optimal MIMO-MPC for simultaneous control of the LFC and EVs, is able to stabilize the frequency fluctuation and maintain the desired battery SOC at the certain time, effectively. Simulation study in a two-area interconnected power system with wind farms shows the effectiveness of the proposed MIMO-MPC over the proportional integral (PI) controller and the decentralized vehicle to grid control (DVC) controller.

  • This paper considers the model predictive control (MPC) problems in nonlinear processes or systems. The MPC method determines the control law such that the predicted output based on the identified process model is equal to the reference output which consists of both the process output at current time and the setting value called as the command generator. In this paper, the nonlinear MPC software for a chemical reactor is developed and analized from the point of view of practical applications.

Model Predictive Control of Bidirectional AC-DC Converter for Energy Storage System

  • Energy storage system has been widely applied in power distribution sectors as well as in renewable energy sources to ensure uninterruptible power supply. This paper presents a model predictive algorithm to control a bidirectional AC-DC converter, which is used in an energy storage system for power transferring between the three-phase AC voltage supply and energy storage devices. This model predictive control (MPC) algorithm utilizes the discrete behavior of the converter and predicts the future variables of the system by defining cost functions for all possible switching states. Subsequently, the switching state that corresponds to the minimum cost function is selected for the next sampling period for firing the switches of the AC-DC converter. The proposed model predictive control scheme of the AC-DC converter allows bidirectional power flow with instantaneous mode change capability and fast dynamic response. The performance of the MPC controlled bidirectional AC-DC converter is simulated with MATLAB/Simulink(R) and further verified with 3.0kW experimental prototypes. Both the simulation and experimental results show that, the AC-DC converter is operated with unity power factor, acceptable THD (3.3% during rectifier mode and 3.5% during inverter mode) level of AC current and very low DC voltage ripple. Moreover, an efficiency comparison is performed between the proposed MPC and conventional VOC-based PWM controller of the bidirectional AC-DC converter which ensures the effectiveness of MPC controller.

일간 빔 출력 확인을 위한 평가도구인 Machine Performance Check의 유용성 평가 (Assessment of the usefulness of the Machine Performance Check system that is an evaluation tools for the determination of daily beam output)

  • 목 적: Machine Performance Check (MPC)는 Electronic Portal Imaging Device(EPID)를 기반으로 빔 출력을 별도의 설치 없이 측정할 수 있는 장점을 지닌 자체 검사 소프트웨어이다. 본원에서는 MPC와 QA Beamchecker PLUS 간의 일간 빔 출력을 비교 및 상관관계를 분석하여 MPC의 유용성을 확인하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 본 실험을 진행하기 위해 선형가속기(Truebeam 2.5)를 이용하였고, 광자선(6 MV, 10 MV, 15 MV, 6 MV-FFF, 10 MV-FFF), 전자선(6 MeV, 9 MeV, 12 MeV, 16 MeV, 20 MeV) 총 10개의 에너지를 대상으로 5 개월간 치료 전 빔 출력을 MPC와 QA Beamchecker PLUS로 측정하여, 총 80 회의 데이터를 획득하였다. Pearson 상관계수를 사용하여 MPC와 QA Beamchecker PLUS 간의 빔 출력을 비교 및 상관관계를 평가하였다. Pearson 상관계수는 0.8 이상은 아주 강함, 0.6 이상 0.8 미만 강함, 0.4 이상 0.6 미만 보통, 0.2 이상 0.4 미만 약함, 0.2 미만 아주 약함을 의미한다. 결 과: MPC와 QA Beamchecker PLUS 모두 일간 빔 출력 일치도는 2 % 이내로 나타났다. MPC의 빔 출력은 광자선이 $0.29{\pm}0.26%$, 전자선이 $0.30{\pm}0.26%$로 나타났고, QA Beamchecker PLUS의 빔 출력은 광자선이 $0.31{\pm}0.24%$, 전자선이 $0.33{\pm}0.24%$로 나타났다. MPC와 QA Beamchecker PLUS 사이의 Pearson 상관계수는 광자선의 경우 15 MV에서는 아주강함, 6 MV, 10 MV, 6 MV-FFF 그리고 10 MV-FFF에서는 강함으로 나타났고, 전자선의 경우 16 MeV, 20 MeV에서 강함, 9 MeV, 12 MeV에서 보통, 6 MeV에서 아주 약함으로 나타났다. 결 론: MPC는 일간 빔 출력 평가 면에서 광자선과 고에너지 전자선에서는 QA Beamchecker PLUS와 강한 상관관계로 보임을 확인할 수 있었다. 다만, 저에너지 전자선(6 MeV)에서는 낮은 상관관계를 보였지만, 관찰기간동안 MPC, QA Beamchecker PLUS 모두 빔 출력 일치도는 2 % 이내로 일간 빔 출력 확인 용도로는 적절할 것으로 판단된다. MPC는 기존의 일간 빔 출력 측정 도구 보다 빠르게 수행 할 수 있어 사용자 입장에서 효과적인 방법인 것으로 사료된다.

  • A methacrylate monomer having phospholipid polar group and cell membrane structure is known as highly biocompatible. Based on these properties, new biocompatible multi-functional textile finishing agent was developed using phospolipid copolymer. 2-Methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) was synthesized using 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 2-chloro-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane (COP), trimethylamine (TMA) and triethylamine (TEA), and then polymerized to prepare MPC copolymer by radical polymerization using AIBN. The structures of MPC and MPCE were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR and will be evaluated as textile finishing agent in further study.

MGO Chiller 시스템의 제어 방식에 따른 온도 동특성 연구 (Study of Temperature Dynamic Characteristics of Various Control Methods for MGO Chiller System)

  • It is important that an MGO Chiller System, which is one of the sulfur oxide emission control technologies, is designed to meet the fuel temperature requirements, even with sudden engine load changes. Three different control algorithms (PI, Cascade, and MPC) were applied to an indirect MGO chiller system to compare and analyze the outlet temperature dynamic characteristics of the system through a case study. The results showed that the MPC control method had the best temperature following characteristics in the case study, and the temperature deviation range was reduced by approximately 5% compared to the PI control method.

V/S/TSIUVC를 이용한 멀티펄스 음성부호화 방식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Multi-Pulse Speech Coding Method by Using V/S/TSIUVC)

  • 유성음원과 무성음원을 사용하는 음성부호화 방식에 있어서, 같은 프레임 안에 모음과 무성자음이 있는 경우에 음질저하 현상이 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 음질을 개선하기 위해 V/S/TSIUVC 스위칭, 개별피치 펄스와 TSIUVC 근사합성 방법을 사용한 새로운 멀티펄스 음성부호화 방식을 제시한다. TSIUVC는 영교차율과 개별피치 펄스에 의하여 추출되며, TSIUVC의 추출율은 여자와 남자음성에서 각각 91%와 95.2%를 얻었다. 여기에서 중요한 사실은 양질의 TSIUVC 합성 파형을 얻기 위해서는 0.547kHz 이하와 2.813kHz 이상의 주파수 정보를 사용하여야 한다. V/UV를 이용한 MPC와 V/S/TSIUVC를 이용한 FBD-MPC의 비교평가를 하였다. 실험결과, FBD-MPC의 음질이 MPC의 음질에 비하여 상당히 개선되었음을 알 수 있었다.
