PURPOSES : This study aimed to offer a greenhouse gases table to assist a road designer in calculating the greenhouse gases for a road environment when making a decision about an alternative road. METHODS : This study developed an operation mode table of greenhouse gases using the MOVES program. Similar factors for Korean vehicles and fuels are reflected in the MOVES program, which was made in the USA. Finally, a paired t-test was conducted to calculate the site data and MOVES data. Through these studies, a methodology was suggested for calculating carbon emissions based on various types of roads alignments. RESULTS : The site results for a passenger truck on the road were statistically significant when the vehicle speed was above 65 km/h. However, a future study will consider factors for various road alignments and vehicles. CONCLUSIONS : This study will contribute to the theoretical basis for reducing carbon emissions from roads by helping road designers make decisions about road alternatives in terms of the road environment.

Movement order program of robot operating program is generally made by teach-in method. Therefore in most cases it is sufficient as long as the robot system shows a reguired repeatability for the working conditions. But the trend in the robot application moves to the automatic generation of the working programs. A mathematical robot model similar to the reality is necessary for the analysis of the kinematic transformation of the robot system. The purposes of this paper are to make a better describing form and to suggest an automatic algorithm for kinematic parameter identification.

Monte-Carlo GO is a computer GO program that is sufficiently competent without using knowledge expressions of IGO. Although it is computationally intensive, the computational complexity can be reduced by properly pruning the IGO game tree. Here, I achieve this by using a potential model based on the knowledge expressions of IGO. The potential model treats GO stones as potentials. A specific potential distribution on the GO board results from a unique arrangement of stones on the board. Pruning using the potential model categorizes legal moves into effective and ineffective moves in accordance with the potential threshold. Here, certain pruning strategies based on potentials and potential gradients are experimentally evaluated. For different-sized boards, including an official-sized board, the effects of pruning strategies are evaluated in terms of their robustness. I successfully demonstrate pruning using a potential model to reduce the computational complexity of GO as well as the robustness of this effect across different-sized boards.
The purpose of this study is to develop the program for efficient operation of a multi-functional surface mounting device(SMD) which mount various components on a printed circuit board(PCB). These components are provided by diverse types of feeders such as cassette, stick and tray feeders. The SMD has one or two heads. In the SMD, the positions of PCB and feeders and fixed, and the head moves to pick up a component from a feeder and to mount it on the PCB. The number of lanes occupied by each feeder and the nozzle used for each component can be different. We develop an off-line program to minimize the cycle-time of the SMD by studying the optimal assignment of feeders and the optimal mounting sequence of components. Graphical User Interface(GUI) is also developed. Additionally, we consider the line balancing problem which appears when two SMDs are used sequentially.
PURPOSES : Road sectors contribute approximately 16 % of total GHG emission rates in South Korea. Engineers and experts expend significant efforts to identify countermeasures for the reduction of carbon emission. This study aims to determine how total carbon emission rates change depending on whether or not there is speed limit enforcement. METHODS : In this study, Lamm's travel speed profile theory is first adopted to select the hazard road, which sections are designated as speed limit enforcement. Second, Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES) was used to simulate the carbon emission on the road. RESULTS : The total carbon emission rate under speed limit enforcement was 10,773 g higher than the condition without speed limit enforcement in the designated road. This might affect acceleration, which can lead to increased emissions. CONCLUSIONS : There would be no researches about proving the relationship how speed limit enforcement has an effect on carbon emission. The result of our study can provide valuable guidelines regarding road safety and eco-friendly roads.
When an absolute elastic collision occurs between a motion body and the another body inside a closed space, according to the current physical law and thus a computer graphical expression, it is defined that the center of mass of the closed space is not moved. This paper defines a physical law which includes a minor facts of the center of mass of a closed space moves during an absolute elastic collision occurs between a motion body and another body inside a closed space. The law defined in this paper has been verified using approximate lab equipments, and using this, graphical expression models and mathematical expressions for an absolute elastic collision between two bodies inside a closed space are del ed. When the minor effects of the center of mass moves is applied to the multi-body dynamic simulation program or haptic program, more accurate motion could be expressed. This definition can also be applied to an animation movie or other graphical motion expression for more realistic expression.
The moving trajectory of a golf ball is mainly determined by the angles of the clubface and the trajectory of the club shaft. This paper presents a computer program for analyzing the position and angles of the club while the club moves in a circular motion. For this purpose, a mathematical algorithm was developed and implemented on the experimental data(5 m and 10 m carries) using VC++ and OpenGL. A skilled female golfer(174 cm, 65 kg, 0 handicap) was participated in data collection for the short approach shots. An iron club(Titleist 52 degree, 91.5 cm length, 450 g mass), attached with five reflective markers(12 mm), was used to collect experimental data. However, exact 3D coordinates and angles of the clubface are not directly calculated from measured data. A reverse engineering platform(Minolta Vivid910 hardware and Rapidform software) was thus employed to acquire the scanned data of the clubface. The scanned data and measured data were first aligned by applying appropriate coordinate transformations, and then exact coordinates and angles of clubface could be obtained at each position during circular motion. The program(Club Motion Analysis 1.0) exports the open, heel, loft angles of the club.
This paper presents the results of a study that looks into the different operating structures of terminals in the United States and attempts to find the type of terminal management scheme (All-Comers Common User Facilities, Programmed Common User Facilities, and Program-Tied User Facilities) that is most efficient with regard to crane usage. The paper uses gross and net crane moves per hour to develop an efficiency ratio that is then used to compare terminals. A total of thirty-one terminals were compared in an attempted to find the most efficient management scheme. While the hypothesis that Program-Tied User Facilities are the most efficient operating scheme was accepted, the sample was too small to provide conclusive results pertinent to the terminals in the United States.
