온도와 pH 민감성을 갖는 그래프트 공중합체[Pluronic-$g$-poly(NIPAAm-$co$-MMA), Polymer A]와 [Pluronic-$g$-poly(NIPAAm-$co$-MAA), Polymer C]는 $t$-butylperoxybenzoate를 이용하여 Pluronic 공중합체의 주사슬에 $N$-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm)/$N,N$-diethylaminoethylmethacrylate (DEAEMA)와 $N$-isopropylacrylamide(NIPAAm)/methacrylic acid (MAA)를 각각 합성하였다.

The novel linear- (V-LUM) and cross-type macromonomers (C-VUM) of vinyl-terminated bifunctional polyurethane were synthesized and applied to the dispersion polymerization of styrene and MMA in ethanol. The existence of the vinyl terminal groups and the grafted macromonomer with styrene and PMMA was verified using 1H NMR and 13C NMR. Monodisperse polystyrene (PS) microspheres were successfully obtained above 15 wt % of macromonomer relative to styrene. The macromonomer can efficiently stabilize higher surface area of the particles compared to a conventional stabilizer, PVP. The grafting ratio of the PS calculated from 1H NMR linearly increased up to 0.048 with 20 wt % of the macromonomer and the high molecular weights (501,300 g/mol) of PS with increased glass transition and enhanced thermal stability were obtained. Furthermore, the stable and monodisperse PMMA microspheres having a weight-average diameter of $5.09{\mu}m$ and a good uniformity of 1.01 were obtained with 20 wt% L-VUM. The molecular weight increased, but the size of the PMMA particles decreased with the macromonomer concentration due to the increased stabilizing effect. The molecular weight of the PMMA was approximately two fold higher than that by a conventional PVP. The L-VUM acts as a reactive stabilizer, which gives polyurethane-grafted PS or PMMA with a high molecular weight. In addition, the XPS result showed that the C-PS (PS using the C-VUM) was anchored with a larger amount of PEG than that of the L-PS (PS using the L-VUM) on the particle surface. Thus, the reaction and stabilizing mechanism of the macromonomers for the formation of PS particles is proposed.
Emulsion graft copolymerizations of vinyl monomers, butyl acrylate(BA), methyl methacrylate(MMA), 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA), methacrylonitrile(MAN), dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate(DAMA) or 2-vinyl pyridine(VP), onto carboxyl-terminated SBR latex were carried out under different experimental conditions. In case of synthesizing SBR-g-poly(butyl acrylate), the degree of grafting was increased with increasing the amount of emulsifier, polymerization temperature and the amount of initiator. Pull-out strength of resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex(RFL) adhesives formulated with modified latexes was very higher than that of RFL adhesive formulated with ungrafted latex. When the modified latexes with GMA, HEMA, MAN, DAMA or VP were used, the break occurred at cords. Peel strength of RFL adhesives formulated with SBR-g-poly(GMA), SBR-g-poly(HEMA) or SBR-g-poly(VP) was higher by about 1.3 times than that of RFL adhesives formulated with unmodified SBR against nylon cord and was higher by about 2.0 times against polyester cord.
This research is conducted to create a functional hydrogel ophthalmic lens containing nanoparticles. Carbon nanoparticles and PEGMEMA are used as additives for the basic combination of HEMA, MA, and MMA, and the materials are copolymerized with EGDMA as the cross-linking agent and AIBN as the thermal initiator. The hydrogel lens is produced using a cast-mold method, and the materials are thermally polymerized at $100^{\circ}C$ for an hour. The polymerized lens sample is hydrated in a 0.9 % saline solution for 24 hours before the optical and physical characteristics of the lens are measured. The refractive index, water content, contact angle, light transmittance, and tensile strength are measured to evaluate the physical and optical characteristics of the hydrogel lens. The refractive index, water content, contact angle, UV-B light transmittance, UV-A light transmittance, visible light transmittance, tensile strength and breaking strength of the hydrogel lens polymer are 1.4019~1.4281, 43.05~51.18 %, $31.95{\sim}68.61^{\circ}$, 21.69~58.11 %, 35.59~84.26 %, 45.85~88.06 %, 0.1075~0.1649 kgf and 0.1520~0.2250 kgf, respectively. The results demonstrate an increase in refractive index, tensile strength and breaking strength and a decrease in contact angle and light transmittance. Furthermore, the visible light transmissibility is significantly increased at PEG 10 %. It is clear that this material can be used for high-performance ophthalmic lenses with wettability, ultraviolet ray blocking effect, and tensile strength.
Emulsion polymerization ws carried out using Alkyl methacrylate(RMA) like MMA, EMA, BMA and Styrene Monomer(SM) for core-shell latex preparation. It was synthesized at $80^{\circ}C$ in the presence of anionic surfactant SLS(Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). FT-IR and DSC analysis are used to confirm the synthesized core-shell emulsion latexes. Moreover DSC and TGA were used to investigate the thermal characterisitcs of them. The differences of the decomposition rate and the activation energy from TGA and DSC analysis are not so big. It considers that the pendent group is not affect of the thermal characteristics and stability on core-shell latexes, which is synthesized with RMA and Styrene. For investigating combustion products, LC50 values were calculated by FED(Fractional Effective Dose)from the Pyrolyzer-Mass sepctrometer.
To prepare very stable acrylic type emulsion having a visible ray absorption property, in-situ preparation technique of $Cu_xS$ nanoparticle was adopted. Firstly, the acylic emulsions of methyl methacrylate(MMA), butyl acrylate(BA), and acrylonitrile(AN) were synthesized by pre-emulsion polymerization at $60^{\circ}C$ in the presence of anionic surfactant. Secondly, $Cu_xS$ nanocomposited emulsions were directly prepared in the prepolymerized acrylic emulsion with $CuSO_4$ at $50^{\circ}C$. The presnce of $Cu_xS$ nanoparticle in emulsion was confirmed by SEM and EDS. The final $Cu_xS$ nanocomposited emulsion showed an olive-green colour and good emulsion stability up to 1 month. In addition the PET films coated with our $Cu_xS$ nanocomposited emulsion absorbed effectively the visible ray.
Photopolymerization, the utilization of electromagnetic radiation(or light) as the energy source for polymerization of functional monomers, oligomers is the basis of important commercial processes with broad applicability, including photoimaging and RV curing of coatings and inks. The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of environmental fraternitive photopolymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA). This work is the first step to continue further research about alkyl methacrylate. The experiment was done in aqueous solution under the influence of photo-initiator concentration(0.05-0.25mol/l), light intensity (5000-9000 ${\mu}J/cm^2$) and monomer concentration(2-6mol/l). Methyl methacrylate was polymerized to high conversion ratio using hydrogen peroxide($H_2O_2$) and the kinetics model we have obtained is as follows. $R_p=k_p[S]^{0.41}[M]^{0.62}[L]^{2.45} exp(53.64/RT$). The differential method of thermogravimetric analysis(Friedman method) was used to obtain value of activation energy on decomposition reaction. The average value of it res 45.4Kca1/mol.
