Analysis for Next-generation High-Speed MIL-STD-1553 Bus Technology (차세대 고속 MIL-STD-1553 버스 기술 분석)

  • The MIL-STD-1553 standard has been used for over 40 years as a data bus technology for high-reliability mobile systems. However, 1 Mbps transmission speed is absolutely insufficient to implement sensor data convergence, which is an essential requirement of modern aerospace systems. In this paper, we analyze the hierarchical structure of the MIL-STD-1553B version specification and describe several methods to increase the transmission speed without losing the advantages of the existing MIL-STD-1553 bus. In addition, we analyzed the R & D cases of the high-speed MIL-STD-1553 technology, which have been conducted in leading aerospace countries.

  • In this paper, we design COMS system bus that the 1553 Data Bus is able to link all the units of the satellite managed by the SCU using one Prime Data Bus and on Redundant Data Bus. Also we analyze MIL-STD-1553B bus load and relevant exchange memory budgets in system bus of the COMS satellite. This data is used in the satellite mission and software design by system engineer.

  • In this paper, described a design result of bus interface modulo for multiple level MU-SID-1553 data bus network. In general, MIL-SID-1553 network is used for single level data bus topology. But, according to applied system's structure. multiple level bus architecture is required., And for his, micro processor must be involved for system be, and a additional hardware and software functions are needed. The designed data bus interface module is simply consists of communication transceivers and simple electronic circuit without micro processor. Through the hardware testing and software simulation, the functional performance of the designed interface module was successfully validated.

  • The mission data in missile systems should be quickly and reliably transmitted from a mission transmission device to a guidance control unit. The MIL-STD-1553B is one of the reliable communication standards, but its bit rate is generally limited to 1Mbps due to the intrinsic properties of its electrical design. Therefore, the bus controller needs to be optimized to efficiently transmit the mission data on the inevitably limited bit rate. This paper proposes an analytical approach based on sampling-based optimization methods to maximize the data throughput without data loss. The proposed approach was evaluated in the simulations with the data transmission model for the MIL-STD-1553B communication system. The results of the proposed methods were applied to a real-time system and showed that the proposed method was successfully performed.

  • MIL-STD-1553B communication is globally used in the area of aerospace and defense which require safety and reliability in spite of its low communication speed. As recently increased requirements for high precision and robust guidance ability of missiles, missile sensor equipment needs more data to satisfy those requirements. Therefore, missile systems to adopt MIL-STD-1553B requires higher data transfer and processing capability than those of the current systems. In this paper, we describe the result of analysis and implementation of the existing methods that applied multi-message chain and double buffers to improve the current missile system.

  • It is very important to support real-time on the inspection equipment based on Windows. In particular, in the system using MIL-STD-1553B communication, which is widely used in military weapon systems, real-time is required for inspection equipment that uses mostly platforms based on Windows such as Industrial PCs. However, in order to use a complete real-time operating system such as VxWorks, the purchase cost is expensive and the implementation is complicated on the system, so it is not suitable for inspection equipment that requires simple functions to just check go or no-go. Therefore, in this paper, a Real-Time implanted Kernel(RTiK) in the Windows kernel is implanted in order to improve these defects, and real-time performance is implemented for periodically MIL-STD-1553B communication by Deferred Procedure Call(DPC) of Windows. Also, it was verified that the period of up to 2ms was guaranteed with a RDTSC into the EDX:EAX registers for measuring the periodicity.

  • 유도무기는 점검장비와 MIL-STD-1553B 통신 시 많은 양의 데이터를 처리하고, 전달 받은 데이터에 대해 정확성과 빠른 응답성을 요구하기 때문에 점검장비에서 데이터를 실시간으로 처리하고 판단하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존에 개발된 실시간 이식 커널을 이용하여 미들웨어에서 MIL-STD-1553B 통신에 요구되는 주기적인 통신의 마감시간을 보장하도록 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • 본 논문은 윈도우에 디바이스 드라이버 형태로 동작하는 실시간 이식 커널을 제안한다. x86하드웨어에서 제공하는 Local APIC(Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller)를 이용하여 윈도우와는 별도의 타이머를 제공하여, 독립적인 타이머 인터럽트를 통해 실시간성이 필요한 서비스가 정확한 주기로 동작하여 마감시한을 보장한다. 그리고 1553b 통신에서 IP470을 통해 오실로 스코프로 테스트하여 제안한 실시간 이식 커널이 실시간성을 보장함을 보인다.

Study of Analysis Technique of Flight Compatibility Test Data using Instrumented Pod for External Store (외부장착 계측포드를 사용한 비행적합성 자료 분석기법 연구)

  • Analysis technique of flight compatibility test results using instrumented pod for external store is studied. Raw data of sensors and MIL-STD-1553B acquired from instrumented pod are analyzed separately. Besides, tuning and synchronization of sensor data enable the analysis of those two type of data simultaneously. Evaluation of analysis result shows that the analyzed data represent maneuvers of the aircraft successfully and agree the values of the real flight tests.

  • In the past, the part of development of that is used for the military aviation target or reconnaissance is being extended to the range of application not only reconnaissance but also civilian industry as the introduction of the newest IT technology and the technical evolution. The Civilian low-cost UAV that is expected growth at the market of UAV in the world is accelerated to the extended applicability in the fields. However, The UAV study is recently focused on the Link and The Data bus because the main decision of the civilian UAV system configuration is not suitable to determinate the factory of price. In this paper is analysed the UAV data bus through the simulation in same condition both the CAN Bus which used the automobile industry and the MIL-STD-1553B which is used the aviation industry. As a comparison result, we identified that the CAN Bus of conventional configuration is possible to transmit the data without the need for a separate coupler equipment against the MIL-STD-1553B data. Thus, we identified that the CAN bus is capable to apply as a low-cost UAV internal data bus to optimize configuration and weight than 1553B.
