Implementation of Fast Sobel Edge Detector Using SSE Instructions (SSE 명령어를 이용한 고속 Sobel Edge Detector 구현)

  • 본 논문에서는 SSE(Streaming Sigle instruction multiple data Extensions)명령어를 이용한 고속 Sobel edge detection 알고리즘을 제안한다. SSE를 지원하는 CPU는 128bit의 SSE 레지스터를 보유하고 있으며 이에 속한 데이터는 한 번에 병렬적으로 처리 될 수 있다. 실험은 Sobel 연산에 대하여 순차처리 코딩, 이미지 처리 라이브러리인 OpenCV, MIL 8.0, IPP 5.2를 이용한 코딩, shift 알고리즘을 사용한 SSE 코딩, 제안하는 방법을 이용한 SSE 프로그램 코팅에 대해 각각의 수행 시간을 측정하고 이를 비교하였다. 실험결과 제안하는 방법은 순차코팅에 비해 약 12배, OpenCV에 비해 13배, MIL에 비해 2배 정도 빨랐으며, IPP에 대해선 약간 빠른 성능 향상을 보였다. 또한 일반적인 shift를 이용한 방법보다 제안하는 방법은 대략 1.5배 정도의 성능 향상이 있었다. 이를 통해 제안하는 방법은 라이브러리를 구입하는 비용을 들이지 않으며 추가적 하드웨어의 구입 없이도 PC에서 빠른 Sobel 연산을 수행 할 수 있음을 보였다.

Fast Image Pre-processing Algorithms Using SSE Instructions (SSE 명령어를 이용한 영상의 고속 전처리 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes fast image processing algorithms using SSE (Streaming SIMD Extensions) instructions. The CPU's supporting SSE instructions have 128bit XMM registers; data included in these registers are processed at the same time with the SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) mode. This paper develops new SIMD image processing algorithms for Mean filter, Sobel horizontal edge detector, and Morphological erosion operation which are most widely used in automated optical inspection systems and compares their processing times. In order to objectively evaluate the processing time, the developed algorithms are compared with OpenCV 1.0 operated in SISD (Single Instruction Single Data) mode, Intel's IPP 5.2 and MIL 8.0 which are fast image processing libraries supporting SIMD mode. The experimental result shows that the proposed algorithms on average are 8 times faster than the SISD mode image processing library and 1.4 times faster than the SIMD fast image processing libraries. The proposed algorithms demonstrate their applicability to practical image processing systems at high speed without commercial image processing libraries or additional hardwares.

In vitro evaluation of the wear resistance of provisional resin materials fabricated by different methods (제작방법에 따른 임시 수복용 레진의 마모저항성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the wear resistance of 3D printed, milled, and conventionally cured provisional resin materials. Materials and methods: Four types of resin materials made with different methods were examined: Stereolithography apparatus (SLA) 3D printed resin (S3P), digital light processing (DLP) 3D printed resin (D3P), milled resin (MIL), conventionally self-cured resin (CON). In the 3D printed resin specimens, the build orientation and layer thickness were set to $0^{\circ}$ and $100{\mu}m$, respectively. The specimens were tested in a 2-axis chewing simulator with the steatite as the antagonist under thermocycling condition (5 kg, 30,000 cycles, 0.8 Hz, $5^{\circ}C/55^{\circ}C$). Wear losses of the specimens were calculated using CAD software and scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to investigate wear surface of the specimens. Statistical significance was determined using One-way ANOVA and Dunnett T3 analysis (${\alpha}=.05$). Results: Wear losses of the S3P, D3P, and MIL groups significantly smaller than those of the CON group (P < .05). There was no significant difference among S3P, D3P, and MIL group (P > .05). In the SEM observations, in the S3P and D3P groups, vertical cracks were observed in the sliding direction of the antagonist. In the MIL group, there was an overall uniform wear surface, whereas in the CON group, a distinct wear track and numerous bubbles were observed. Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, provisional resin materials made with 3D printing show adequate wear resistance for applications in dentistry.

A Study on the Compatibility of Korean Temperature Guidelines for Stockpile Material Environmental Test (저장물자 환경시험을 위한 한국적 온도기준 적합성 연구)

  • The T&E (Test and Evaluation) results were applied for a judgment basis to decide the developmental process of system engineering for efficient weapon system R&D (Research and Development). During the OT&E (Operational Test and Evaluation) and DT&E (Development Test and Evaluation), an environmental test is essential for weapon system development owing to their highly exposed operational conditions. Based on the MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-310, and AECTP 200, the ROK armed forces recommended operating temperatures for the ROK weapon system and applied this to the DT&E and OT&E. This study examined the compatibility of Korean temperature guidelines for stockpile material considering recent climate change. Moreover, this study analyzed the data from hourly measured temperatures on 101 observatories during 60 years, from 1960 to 2020, and percentage (0.5%, 1%, 5%, and 10%) and the 𝜎 (3𝜎, 2𝜎, and 1𝜎) frequency of occurrence on rigorous hot (August) and cold (January) periods, respectively. The results indicate that the highest temperature was 41℃, and the 0.5% frequency of occurrence was 37.0℃. In the case of the cold period, the lowest temperature was -32.6℃ and the 0.5% frequency of occurrence was -21.1℃. By considering the previously recommended operating temperature range for a general ground system, -30 ~ 40℃, regional operation probability is recognized 99.999%. Despite the recent abnormal climate change from global warming, the Korean temperature guidelines are compatible with the stockpile material environmental test.

High Performance MMIC Star Mixer for Millimeter-wave Applications (밀리미터파 응용을 위한 우수한 성능의 MMIC Star 혼합기)

  • In this paper, we reported on a high performance MMIC star mixer for millimeter-wave applications. The star mixer was fabricated using drain-source-connected pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (PHEMT) diodes considering the PHEMT MMIC full process on 2 mil thick GaAs substrate. The average conversion loss of 13 dB was measured in the RF frequency range of 81 GHz to 86 GHz at LO frequency of 75 GHz with LO power of 10 dBm. The RF-LO isolation characteristics are greater than 30 dB and the input 1-dB compression are approximately 4 dBm. The total chip size is 0.8 mm ${\times}$ 0.8 mm.

High Reliable GaAs HBT with InGaP Ledge Emitter Structure (외부 베이스표면을 에미터 ledge로 포장한 InGaP/GaAs HBT의 신뢰도 향상)

  • The self-aligned AICaAs/GaAs HBTs with the mesa-etched emitter showed severe degradation in current gain under stress. The cause was identified to be due to instability of the surface states on extrinsic base. In this paper the surface states were diminished by the hetero-passivation of the InGaP ledge emitter and the reliability was drastically improved. The activation energy of current gain degradation was extracted to be 1.97eV and MTTF to be 4.8$\times$108 at 14$0^{\circ}C$ which has satisfied MIL standards.

  • Copper-bearing hydrothermal vein mineralization of the Samsan area was deposited in two stages (I and II) of quartz-calcite-sulfide veins which fill fissures in Cretaceous volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Gyeongsang basin. The major ore minerals, chalcopyrite and sphalerite, together with pyrite, galena, hematite, and minor sulfosalts, occur with epidote and chlorite as gangue minerals in stage I quartz veins. Chlorite geothermometry, fluid inclusion and stable isotope data indicate that copper ore was deposited mainly at temperatures between $330^{\circ}C$ and $280^{\circ}C$ from fluids with salinities between 12 and 3 equiv. wt % NaCl. Evidence of fluid boiling indicates a range of pressures from ${\leq}100$ to 200 bars bars. Within ore stage I there was an apparent decrease in ${\delta}^{34}S$ values of $H_{2}S$ with paragenetic time, from 8.0 to 2.3 per mil. This pattern was likely achieved through progressive increases in activity of oxygen accompanying boiling and mixing. In the early part of the first stage, the high temperature, high salinity fluids gave way to progressively cooler and more dilute fluids of the late parts in the first stage and of the second stage. There is a systematic decrease in calculated ${\delta}^{18}O_{water}$ values with decreasing temperature in the Samsan hydrothermal system, from values of -86 per mil for early portion of stage I through -5.9 per mil for late portion of stage I to -6.3 per mil for stage II. The ${\delta}D$ values of fluid inclusion waters also decrease with paragenetic time from -76 per mil to -86 per mil. These trends combined with mineral paragenesis and fluid inclusion data are interpreted to indicate progressive cooler, more oxidizing meteoric water inundation of an early exchanged meteoric hydrothermal system.

Design of the Beam Tilted Series-fed Microstrip Array Antenna (빔경사 직렬 급전형 마이크로스트립 배열 안테나 설계)

  • A series-fed microstrip array antenna of beamwidth $10^{\circ}$, squint angle $80^{\circ}$ and SLL -15 dB below is designed. Series-fed arrays are formed by interconnecting all the elements by high-impedance transmission lines and feeding the power at the first element and it is a traveling-wave antenna which is terminated with a matched load. Radiation patterns and impedance matching of the antenna are analyzed by Ensemble 4.0, which is a popular software package for designing printed antennas and arrays. The squint angle of beam can be controlled by the spacing between the elements. The major advantages of series-fed array antennas are that feed arangement is compact and the losses associated with the feeding network are less than those of a corporate feed type. The antennas are fabricated on the RT/Duroid Laminates of 62 mil thickness. The experimental results are very close to the specifications to be designed.

Patty Acid Intakes and Plasma Lipid Concentrations of Lactating Women and Breasts fed Infants in Kwangju (일부 광주지역 수유부와 모유영양아의 지방산 섭취 실태 및 혈장 지질 농도)

  • This study was undertaken to determine talc fatty acid intakes of lactating women and breast fed infants. Food consumptions of lactating women were measured at 3 4nd 9 days find 4, 8 and 12 weeks postpartum, respectively and diet samples were collected at the same time. Breast milk and blood samples were collected at 12 weeks postpartum. Fatty acid profiles of diet and breast milk were analyzed with GC. Total fatty acid intakes, fat percentage of energy, P/M/S and n-6/n-3 ratios of lactating women were 50.7 g/d, 20.9$\%$, 0.6/0.9/1 and 4.0/l, respect timely, over the first 12 weeks of postpartum and were not significantly different according to the lactating stages. Total fatty acid intakes and fat percentage of energy of the infects aged 12 weeks through the breast milk alone were 18.9 g/d and 44.8. This study shows that the linoleic acid percentage of energy intake in infants was 6.7$\%$, which was in optimum and/or high level to generally recommended guideline. DHA intakes of lactating women were positively correlated with those of infants from breast mil.

Tow-stage Extraction of Milk Fat by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

  • To develop mil fat fractions with desirable physico-chemical properties, anhydrous milk fat (AMF) was fractionated by one- and two-stage extractions using supercritical $CO_2$(SC-$CO_2$). Tow-stage extraction of AMF was performed by first producing tow fractions, an extract and a residue at 4$0^{\circ}C$/241bar, which were subsequently used as the feed for an extraction at 6$0^{\circ}C$/241bar and 4$0^{\circ}C$/345bar, and separated into five and four fractions, respectively, based one extraction time. These fractions were quantified and analyzed for fatty acids and physico-chemical properties. SHort-chain (C4~C8) fatty acids in extract fractions from an extract were 200~150% compared with those of the original AF. Long-chain (C14~C18) fatty acids in extract fractions from a residue were 118~141%. The ratio of unsaturated fatty acids in the residue fraction was 131%. Melting point ranged from 22 to 43$^{\circ}C$, iodine value 21.8 to 36.9, and saponification value 255 to 221 in the extract and residue fractions. SC-$CO_2$ fractionation of AMF by two-stage extraction offers the possibility of developing ractions with discrete fatty acid compositions and physico-chemical properties such as melting point, iodine value and saponification value.
