AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE CYTOTOXICITY OF COMPOSITE RESIN ON MOUSE FIBROBLAST IN VITRO (복합(複合)레진의 세포독성(細胞毒性)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究))

  • In order to investigate the cytotoxicity of composite resin in vitro, BALB / C mouse fibroblast were cultured in MEM in which silux, P-50, microrest, clearfil, amalgam and glass - ionomer, in shape of $2{\times}9mm$ circular disk. The experiments were- performed by cell count on 4 hours, 1, 3, 6 days and the composite resin groups, amalgam, glass - ionomer were compared. 1. On the sixth day, the cellular number of resin composite groups were remarkedly reduced, in contrast, the that of amalgam and glass - ionomer group continuously increased. 2. It was only on the 4 hours that the cellular number contained in amalgam were reduced, but increased thereafter, and the cellular number contained in glass - ionomer are greater than other groups. 3. In resin group, especially between self - curing resin and light - curing resin, there is no difference in cellular number statistically (p>0.05). 4. It was amalgam where the round cell without cellular process was found on the 4. hours and on the 6 th day the cell without cellular process was found numeroulsy in resin group whereas in amalgam and glass - ionomer, like control group was contained cell forming monolayer. These result suggested that the toxicity of the self - curing and light - curing resin greater than that of the amalgam and glass - ionomer.

  • 일반 항공기의 유형을 고정익기과 회전익기로 구별할 수 있다면, MAV (Micro Air Vehicle)의 경우는 곤충이나 조류들의 날개 짓 (flapping) 비행형태인 ornithopter 형이 추가된다. 1993년 미국 RAND사에 의하여 MAV에 대한 타당성 검토(1)가 시작된 이례로 실로 다양한 실험적 형태의 MAV들이 속속 소개되고 있는 실정이다. MAV는 초소형 무인항공기로 길이는 성인의 손바닥 크기인 2.5 inch 정도이고, 개발비용과 기간이 유인항공기에 비해서는 비교할 수 없을 정도로 적게 소요되며. 동체길이가 2~5m인 일반 무인항공기에 비해서도 상대적으로 유리하다는 장점, 그리고 새로운 소형화 기술들을 평가할 수 있는 매우 훌륭한 시험장치가 될 수 있다는 이유로 항공우주기술 분야는 물론 MEMS나 나노기술 분야에서도 상당한 관심을 갖고 있는 실정이다. MAV의 비행 시뮬레이션 또는 시뮬레이터에 대한 현재까지의 국내외 연구개발 노력(2,3)은 MAV의 기체나 부품기술개발 노력에 비하여 상대적으로 뒤쳐져 있는데, 본 논문은 그 기술적 문제가 무엇인지를 분석하고, MAV비행 시뮬레이터 환경을 통해 수행될 수 있는 효과적인 연구개발 분야는 무엇인지를 조명하고자 한다. 또한, MAV비행 시뮬레이터의 성능 요구사항 도출을 통하여 개념설계를 제시하고, 세종대학교와 (주)모델심이 공동 개발중인 "RC Virtual Flight" 비행 시뮬레이터에 MAV가 어떻게 접목되고 있는지를 소개한다.있는지를 소개한다.

Ternary Content Addressable Memory with Hamming Distance Search Functions

  • The flexibility of content addressable mem-ory (CAM) can greatly be extended through the use of trits (ternary digits) Trits consist of binary logical values “0” and “1” with addition of “x” (“dont’t care”). The “dont’t care“is extremely useful for providing com- pact representation of sets of bit strings. In this paper, we propose a new ternary CAM with Hamming distance search functions. Each memory cell in the CAM consists of a pair of lambda diodes which can store trits, namely, a logical “0”, “1” and “x” (“dont’t care“). The CAM can compare stored data and an input data in parallel, and find stored data with Hamming distance within a certain range (“near match“). Also, the interrogation characteristics of the ternary CAM are analyzed in detail. Furthermore, the results obtained these analyses are fully confirmed by simulation using the circuit analysis program HSPICE.

Chaotic Phenomena in MEMS with Duffing Equation (Duffing 방정식을 가진 MEMS에서의 카오스 현상)

  • Recently, there are many difficult for maintenance in the power in established sensor networks. In order to solve this problems, the power development has been interested using vibration in MEMS that insert the MEMS oscillator. In this paper, we propose the MEMS system with Duffing equation to generate vibration signal that can be use power signal in MEMS and confirm and verify the chaotic behaviors in vibration signal of MEMS by computer simulation. As a verification methods, we confirm the existence of period motion and chaotic motion by parameter variation through the time series, phase portrait, power spectrum and poincare map.

  • Recently, in the electric, electronic, robotic, and medical industries, a great attention has been paid to the development of MEMS-based smart devices with a compact size and highly intelligency. The MEMS technology is very effective in designing into a compact size and lightweight by combining into one the complex electrical, mechanical, chemical, and biological features which are required by smart devices, and at the same time, in bulk batch manufacturing. Therefore, this study, to prepare for upcoming new MEMS-based technological paradigm, analyzes MEMS processes and then considers its Applications.

Effect of Sodium Bytyrate on Glycosylation of Recombinant Erythropoietin

  • The effect of Sodium Butyrate (NaBu) on the N-linked oligosaccharide structure of Erythropoietin (EPO) was investigated. Recombinant human EPO was produced by CHO cells grown in an $MEM{\alpha}$ medium with or without 5 mM NaBu, and purified from the culture supernatants using a heparin-sepharose affinity column and immunoaffinity column. The N-linked oligosaccharides were released enzymatically and isolated by paper chromatography. The isolated oligosaccharides were then labeled with a fluorescent dye, 2-aminobenzamide, and analyzed with MonoQ anion exchange chromatography and GlycosepN amide chromatography for the assignment of a GU (glucose unit) vague. A glycan analysis by HPLC showed that the most significant characteristic effect of NaBu was a reduction in the proportion of glycans with Sri-and tetrasialylated oligodaccharides from $21.30\%$ (tri-) and $14.86\%$ (tetra-) in the control cultures (without NaBu) to $8.72\%$ (tri-) and $1.25\%$ (tetra-) in the NaBu-treated cultures, respectively. It was also found that the proportion of asialo-glycan increased from $12.54\%\;to\;23.6\%$ when treated with NaBu.

  • In the field of the system dynamics related to the vibration characteristics, there are lots of examples introduced for the translational system, however the analysis of the torsional systems such as driveline in the automobile is rare compared with the translational system. The purpose of this study is to show the simple concepts for the torsional system analysis and explain how to adjust the mathematical methods for the geared motions, which can be applied to the driveline of the automobile. In order to do it, there are several systematical approaches described about how the sub-system motions can be understood with the mathematical descriptions. Based upon this fundamental study, several torsional system modeling methods will be suggested. Therefore, the characteristics of the torsional system and the gear motions will be explained, which can be adjusted in a further study as a next step.

Reduction of Cell Membrane Toxicity of Amphotericin B Using Micelle,Liposome and Polyethyene Glycol (Micelle, Liposome, Polythylene Glycol을 이용한 Amphotericin B의 세포막 독성저하)

  • Micelle, liposome and polyethylene glycol(PEG) were employed to reduce the cell mem- brane toxicity of Amphotericin B(Amp. B). Cholesterol-sulfate which can form a mixed micelle with Amp. B molecules was found very effective for the reduction of Amp. B toxicity. 0.01% of cholesterol-sulfate could reduce the toxicity of 5X 10$^{-6}$ M Amp. B by 90%. The required concent- ration of cholesterol-sulfate for the toxicity reduction was proportionally increased with increasing Amp. B concentration. PEG was also effective on the reduction of Amp. B toxicity. 2% PEG was required for the reduction of toxicity by 50%, regardless of Amp. B concentration. The liposome system showed an effective reduction of Amp. B toxicity on RBC, maintaining the antibiotic effect on Candida albicans as free drugs. This seems to be due to the fact that liposome bilayer plays a role of buffer system between ergosterol of fungi cell membrane and cholesterol of red blood cell membrane, which leads the redistribution of Amp. B between them, as the result, the reduction of drug toxicity on cell membrane.

  • Perstractive fermentation is a good way to increase the productivity of bioreactors. Us-ing Propionibacteria as the model system, the feasibility of using supported emulsion liquid mem-brane(SELM) fro perstractive fermentation is assessed in this study. Five industrial solvents were considered as the solvent for perparing the SELM. The more polar a solvent, is the higher the par-tition coefficeint However, toxicity of a solvent also increases with its polarity. CO-1055(indus-trial decanol/octanol blend)has the highest partition coefficient toward propionic acid among the solvents that has no molecular toxicity toward Propionibacteria, A preliminary extraction study was conducted using tetradecane as solvent in a hydrophobic hollow fiber contactor. The results confirmed that SELM eliminates the equilibrium limitation of conventional liquid-liquid extrac-tion and allows the use of a non-toxic solvent with low partition coefficient.

In vitro Effect of Aloe on the Respiratory Burst Activity of Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) Leucocytes (알로에가 in vitro에서 넙치 백혈구의 호흡폭발에 미치는 영향)

  • The immunostimulating effect of aloe on respiratory burst activity was investigated by measurements of the chemiluminescent responses (CL) of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) kidney phagocytes in vitro. The phagocytes incubated with 0.5 and $1{\mu}g/ml$ of aloe for 24 hours showed significantly increased respiratory burst activities compared to control. The result of this study suggests that aloe can be used as an immunostimulant for olive flounder culture.
