  • Microcontroller (MCU) is designed to properly utilize each module through programming by connecting various modules to Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA). General-purpose MCUs are designed for consumers to use them appropriately in their research or industry area. However, in a specific area such as networking and AI autonomous vehicles, it is necessary to design MCU suitable for the field directly. However, there is a significant barrier for most consumers to directly design an MCU. In this paper, we provide a development guideline that can easily design an MCU for education or research purpose. First, we introduce AMBA system with open IPs, and we verify that the module operates properly through AMBA and interrupt operation. Finally, the MCU system is designed as an on-chip.

  • Through MCU model, Radio Frequency communication is completed using universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter. The communicatin with PC and MCU is completed using RS-232 cable. At first interconnected communication with PC and MCU is necessary for RF communication because tha UART is based technique for RF communication. Program imbeded in microcontroller unit is ran during RF signal is transmitted to other RF module. Data connected with PC and MCU is transmitted between PC and MCU during PC and MCU is connected.

  • 전기자동차 (EV)에서 구동용 모터의 토크 제어를 위한 인버터에는 제어 연산 및 고장 진단 기능을 수행하기 위한 MCU가 있으며, MCU는 상위 제어기 차량 제어 유닛 (VCU)에게 현재 모터 및 인버터의 상태를 주기적으로 전달하고, 현재 차량 주행에 적합한 토크 지령을 받아 토크 제어를 수행하게 된다. 이를 위해 MCU는 전류, 전압 및 위치 센서의 값을 읽어 제어를 수행하게 되며, 제어의 결과 값으로 pulse width modulation (PWM)을 생성하여 이를 통해 모터에 전압을 공급하게 된다. 즉 차량의 구동에 있어 PWM 신호는 가장 중요한 부분이다. 하지만 생산 불량 또는 진동에 의한 납땜 불량 또는 MCU 전원 고장 등으로 MCU에 고장이 발생하게 되면 이상 PWM을 생성하게 되고 정상적인 토크 제어가 불가능해진다. 이때 안전하게 EV를 정지 시키는 알고리즘이 필요하게 되며, 이를 수행 할 supervisor control unit (SCU)가 인버터 컨트롤 보드에 추가되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 고속으로 주행하던 차량에서 메인 MCU가 고장 날 경우에 안전하게 EV를 정차시키는 방법에 대해 다루었다.

  • Recently, embedded systems have been introduced in various fields such as smart factories, industrial drones, and medical robots. Since sensor data collection and IoT functions for machine learning and big data processing are essential in embedded systems, it is essential to port the operating system that is suitable for the function requirements. However, in embedded systems, it is necessary to separate the hard real-time system, which must process within a fixed time according to service characteristics, and the flexible real-time system, which is more flexible in processing time. It is difficult to port the operating system to a low-performance embedded device such as 8BIT MCU to perform simultaneous real-time. When porting a real-time OS (RTOS) to a low-specification MCU and performing a number of tasks, the performance of the real-time and general processing greatly deteriorates, causing a problem of re-designing the hardware and software if a hard real-time system is required for an operating system ported to a low-performance MCU such as an 8BIT MCU. Research on the technology that can process real-time processing system requirements on RTOS (ported in low-performance MCU) is needed.

  • Computer programming education gives students a chance to use computers independently and actively. This plays a very positive role in acquiring higher cognitive skills such as mathematical skills and creative logical thinking. Thus the purpose of this study is to measure the degrees of students' problem-solving abilities using MCU programming kits based on the ICT Education Guide. The experiment confirms that programming classes using MCU kits have a more positive effect on the students problem-solving abilities than do those using the existing computer textbooks. The sub-constituents of problem-solving abilities - problem recognition, information gathering, analysis, diffuse thinking, decision-making, planning, execution, evaluation and feedback - also show significant statistical differences. Therefore, we can conclude that programming classes using MCU kits are very effective in advancing problem-solving abilities.

The efficient implementation of the multi-channel active noise controller using a low-cost microcontroller unit (저가 microcontoller unit을 이용한 효율적인 다채널 능동 소음 제어기 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a method that can be applied to the efficient implementation of multi-channel active noise controller. Since the normalized MFxLMS (Modified Filtered-x Least Mean Square) algorithm for the multi-channel active noise control requires a large amount of computation, the difficulty has lied in implementing the algorithm using a low-cost MCU (Microcontoller Unit). We implement the multi-channel active noise controller efficiently by optimizing the software based on the features of the MCU. By maximizing the usage of single-cycle MAC (Multiply- Accumulate) operations and minimizing move operations of the delay memory, we can achieve more than 3 times the performance in the aspect of computational optimization, and by parellel processing using the auxillary processor included in the MCU, we can also obtain more than 4 times the performance. In addition, the usage of additional parts can be minimized by maximizing the usage of the peripherals embedded in the MCU.

  • This paper presents an implementation of a smart flowerpot which can adjust humidity and illumination automatically after monitoring the temperature, humidity, and illumination. We made a container of the flowerpot with a 3D printer and embedded a NodeMCU micro controller in it. We attached a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, an illumination sensor, and a water pump to the NodeMCU. We developed a control program that adjusts humidity and illumination and ran it on the NodeMCU. Also we developed an Android application and set up an MQTT server. Using the MQTT server, the NodeMCU and the Android application can exchange messages which keep sensor values and commands. Using the Android application. the user can send the proper temperature, humidity, and illumination to the smart flowerpot and monitor the sensor values.

Structural basis of Ca2+ uptake by mitochondrial calcium uniporter in mitochondria: a brief review

  • Mitochondria are cellular organelles that perform various functions within cells. They are responsible for ATP production, cell-signal regulation, autophagy, and cell apoptosis. Because the mitochondrial proteins that perform these functions need Ca2+ ions for their activity, mitochondria have ion channels to selectively uptake Ca2+ ions from the cytoplasm. The ion channel known to play the most important role in the Ca2+ uptake in mitochondria is the mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU) holo-complex located in the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM). This ion channel complex exists in the form of a complex consisting of the pore-forming protein through which the Ca2+ ions are transported into the mitochondrial matrix, and the auxiliary protein involved in regulating the activity of the Ca2+ uptake by the MCU holo-complex. Studies of this MCU holo-complex have long been conducted, but we didn't know in detail how mitochondria uptake Ca2+ ions through this ion channel complex or how the activity of this ion channel complex is regulated. Recently, the protein structure of the MCU holo-complex was identified, enabling the mechanism of Ca2+ uptake and its regulation by the MCU holo-complex to be confirmed. In this review, I will introduce the mechanism of action of the MCU holo-complex at the molecular level based on the Cryo-EM structure of the MCU holo-complex to help understand how mitochondria uptake the necessary Ca2+ ions through the MCU holo-complex and how these Ca2+ uptake mechanisms are regulated.

In this paper, presented how to make CEC protocol in MCU and how to reduce power consumption. This system implement CEC protocol and uart communication as using WELTREND MCU.
