The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) is the name of the major histocompatibility complex (MCH) in humans. The superlocus contains a large number of genes related to immune system function in humans. This group of genes resides on chromosome 6. and encode cell surface antigen-presenting proteins and many other genes. HLA class I antigen (A, B & C) present peptides from inside the cell. These peptides are produced from digested proteins that are broken down in the lysozymes. Most expressed HLA loci exhibit a remarkable degree of allelic polymorphism, which derives from sequence differences predominantly localized to discrete hypervariable regions of the amino terminal domain of the molecule. In this sutdy, the HLA-A genotypes were determined in twenty students unrelated koreans using the PCR-SSP (Polymerase Chain Reaction-Sequence Specific Primer) technique. Several specific primer pairs in assigning the HLA-A gene were used (A*0201, A*33, A*2401). The results of PCR-SSP, the HLA-A*0201 primer was detected eleven (55%), the HLA-A*33 were detected seven (35%) and the HLA-A*2401 were detected seven (35%). This study shows that the PCR-SSP technique is relatively simple, fast and a practical tool for the determination of the HLA-A genotypes.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine what are the effect of Carthami Flos on Blood according to the administered dosage. Methods : thrity Sprague-Dawleys rats of starved during 3 days were used and divided 3 groups ; Normal group ; Experimental group that were administered Carthmi Flos 117mg/200g(Sample1) ; Experimental group that were administered Carthmi Flos 936mg/200g(Sample2). and the observerd blood(RBC, Hct, Hb, MCV, MCH, MCHC, PLT, WBC NEUT, LYM, MONO, EOSIN). Result : the result were obtained as follows ; 1. RBC, Hb, MCHC were significantly increased, and MCV were decreased in Sample1.(p<0.05) 2. PLT, MCHC, LYM were significantly increased, and Hct, MCV were decreased in Sample2.(p<0.05) Conclusion : According in the above result, it was consided that a small quantity dosage of Carthami Flos was nourished the blood, and a large quantity of that was curative for thrombosis and elevated blood viscosity and it is suggested that more interest and study in the mechanism and clinical use were needed.
Effects of recombinant bovine somatotropln(${\gamma}$BST) on hematologie and blood chemical values were investigated in twenty-five multiparous Holstein dairy cows. Recombinant BST was administered by two different routes ; intramusculary(12.5mg and 25mg/day) and subcutaneously(500mg and 750mg) in sustained-release vehicle every 2 weeks beginning 4 weeks postpartum and continuing for 7 months. Whole blood and serum samples were collected 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 months after beginning of treatments from control and ${\gamma}$BST-administered groups. Hematologic values including RBC, PCV, HB, MCH, MCHC, WBC and differential counts of treatment groups receiving ${\gamma}$BST were similiar to those of control group. Blood chemical values observed were total protein, albumin, A/G ratio, glucose, cholesterol, Ca, Pi, Ca/pi ratio, total bilirubin, creatinine, BUN, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase. There were no significant differences in blood chemical values of cows administered with ${\gamma}$BST from those of control. Although some blood chemical values were fluctuated at a certain observation period, they were remained within the normal physiological ranges. It is concluded from the observations of these experiments that the dose and dosage froms of ${\gamma}$BST employed in this work might not affect hematologic and blood chemical values in dairy cows under the normal sanitary condition and adequate nutritional balance.
We observed an outbreak of calf anaplasmosis at a farm in Chonbuk area during winter season, which was diagnosed by the hematological and serological tests. The results are as follow. On hematological observation for infected thirteen calves (ages 1 to 25 days) showed anemia with hematocrit $27.7{\pm}7.7%$, erythrocyte $6.9{\pm}1.9{\times}10^6/{\mu}l$, hemoglobin $11.3{\pm}3.2g/dl$, MCV $40.6{\pm}1.5fl$, MCH $16.3{\pm}1.6pg$ and MCHC $40.5{\pm}3.6g/dl$. Anaplasma marginale was observed in all of the calves's erythrocytes by Diff-Quick and acridine orange staining, and were reacted by ELISA.

This paper addresses some concerns faced by the shipping industry nowadays. Initially, the environmental issues were resolved and stricter regulations are now being implemented with regards to the exhaust gas, specifically nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx), emitted from ships. Secondly, with the increasing and unstable cost of fuel oils in the world market, it has become almost a necessity to explore on a new alternative fuel. Hence, this study was conducted. An experiment was carried-out on a fishing survey vessel with the main engine (M/E) and generator engine (G/E) operated on expensive marine gas oil (MGO). During the experiment, two pre-refinery systems were installed and different fuel oil samples were employed for the M/E and the G/E. Furthermore, the NOx emission and soot concentration were monitored and verified. The results confirmed the compatibility of some fuel oil types to the engines and meeting the emission standards. MDO, MF15 and Bunker A can be used in place of MGO for the engines(M/E, G/E).
Nutritional and health status was assessed in the 86 healthy elderly women who aged 65 through 96 and resided in nursing home in chonbuk area. Nutritional status was determined by dietary intake, anthropometric and hematological indices and hair elements. Correlation analysis among nutritional indices were performed to identify the factors which related specifically to nutritional status of the elderly. Nutrients intake below two-thirds of the RDA were Ca, riboflavin and niacin. Especially mean Ca intake was only 51.9% of RDA and most of nutrients intake were decreased as theri age increased. Height, body weight and mid upper arm circumference were decreased with age but W/H ratio did not differ among age groups. These data suggested that body fat accumulation did not change with age but lean body mass was decreased with age in the elderly. Waist circumference was positively correlated to dietary fat intake, and body weight, BMI, waist and hip circumferences and total body fat were positively correlated with serum LDC/HDL ratio. It could be concluded anthropometric indices were good indicator that reflect the lipid nutritional status in elderly women. Hematological indices, Hb, RBC, MCH, albumin, globulin, transferrin levels, belonged to normal ranges of aged women. However, the lowest Hb level showed in the oldest-old group(aged 85 and over years group). The avalilavilty of hair analysis to measure nutritional status was tested. There were not found any significant correlations between many kinds of nutritional indices and hair elements except hair Zn content which was positively correlated with BMI.
Anaplasmosis is most important tick-borne rickettsial diseases of domestic ruminant. with Anaptasma spp. as their respective causal agents. In order to the survey prevalence of anaplasmosis in Korean native goats, we examined the Giemsa's blood filrms from 552 grazing and 188 nongrazing-goats in Chonbuk area Namwon, Imsil and Sunchang. The conclusive diagnosis was made by observing the characteristic marginal or central bodies in the red blood cells. The infection rate of grazine and nongrazing-goats with Anaplasma spp. was 71.7% and 8.5%, respectively. In order to study about the therapeutic effects of drug for 40 grazing-oats infected with Anaptasma spp. in mountain-area, Berenil(diminazene acetate) was jntramuscularly injected (0.5㎖ /10kg B.W.). After 1 month, we don't detected the parasite in the blood films from 33 goats(82.5%), but no change of significant hematological values(PCV, ESR, WBC, RBC, MCH, MCHC, PLT, MPV, PDW and HB) was observed. These results indicated that the infection rate of Anaplasma spp. was higher on glazing than nongrazing-goats and Berenil as an antianaplasmal drug is recommended.

The purpose of this research is to measure nutrition counseling effects for improving iron status. The major components of the nutrition counseling were iron, MPF(Meat, Poultry, Fish) and vitamin C rich diet therapy, the provision of nutrient supplements and eatting attitude education. Fifteen female volun teers participated and the mean level for hemoglobin(Hgb), hematocrit(Hct), serum iron(S Fe), total iron binding capacity(TIBC), serum ferritin(SF) of subjects was 11.9±1.3g/dl, 37.0±2.7%, 57.7 ±33.9 g/dl, 409.1±56.2 g/dl, 8.6±3.5ng/ml, respectively. To evaluate the effect of iron status improvement by the nutrition couseling, 10 subjective symptoms, hematological indice and eating attitude were measured after implementation the nutrition counseling. Some subjective symptoms such as 'cold hands and foot', 'slow to recover', 'reduced concentrate', 'poor memory', 'inflammed inner mouth' were improved significantly. The hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean cell volume(MCV), mean cell hemoglobin(MCH) and mean cell hemo globin concentration(MCHC) were increased significantly. And eating attitude was improved significantly as well. It is suggested from the results that the nutrition counseling of this study can be effective to improve iron status.

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the world's most common nutritional problem. It is characterized by a low hemoglobin (Hb) level and low iron status. A study was conducted to investigate the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in day scholar girls belonging to different socioeconomic strata at Punjab University, Lahore. Iron status of the subjects was estimated by measuring Hb, hematocrit (Hct), red blood cell (RBC) count, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCR), serum iron, serum ferritin, total protein and albumin. Results indicated that females belonging to low socioeconomic strata had lower values for Hb, Hct, RBC count, total protein and albumin. Serum iron, serum ferritin, MCV and MCH values fell within the normal range for all of the socioeconomic groups. However, serum iron and ferritin varied with socioeconomic status and higher-income groups had significantly higher serum iron and ferritin. It was concluded that anemia may develop due to poor intake and absorption of iron and that those in the low-income bracket are the most affected group.
This was conducted to determine the effects of body weight, organ weight, hematological values and biochemical parameters by L-carnitine in the ovariectomized (OVX) rats. The animals were divided into 4 groups. Intact group (n=10) received no treatment and operation. Sham group (n=10) received only sham operation and no treatment. OVX group (n=10) received operation and no treatment. OVX+Carn group (n=10) received operation and L-carnitine. Body weight was significantly lower in OVX+Carn group than in all other groups. Also, organ weight such as heart, liver, spleen and kidney was measured. The heart and spleen weight were significantly lower in the OVX+Carn group than in the Intact and Sham group. The liver weight in the OVX+Carn group was significantly differences in comparison with those in the other groups. Also, there was significantly differences in the organ weight of kidney between in the OVX+Carn group and in the other groups. The hematological values of WBC, RBC, MCV, MCH and MCHC were no significant differences in any other groups. The total cholesterol, triglyceride and high density lipoprotein decreased significantly in the OVX+Carn group as compared to those in the OVX group. But, there were no significant differences in low density lipoprotein in any other groups. We conclude that L-carnitine enhanced the body weight in the ovariectomized rats. Our findings suggest that L-carnitine may influence the process of absorption of fat in the ovariectomized rats.
