Evaluation on the Biodegradability of the MBT Wastewater (MBT 폐수의 생분해성 평가)

  • The possibility of the biological treatment of MBT wastewater generated from the vulcanization accelerator manufacturing process was investigated. MBT wastewater is not biodegradable because it hinders the activity of microorganisms, and approximately 10% of the total COD can be removed after a 7 day acclimation period. The optimal conditions of the MBT wastewater for the chemical pre-treatment was pH of 3.5 and the Fenton oxidation with the addition of $Fe^{3+}$ to the wastewater after agitation for 2 hours. The Fenton-treated MBT wastewater showed approximately 20% removal of COD when treated with the activated sludge process for the mixed paper wastewater and Fenton treated wastewater.

  • When MBT(Mechanical Biological Treatment) facility is designed, the management system adequate for domestic circumstance in Korea has been insufficient and power plant's load on seasonal variation has not been resolved yet. Thus, this study introduced MBT facility and MSW(Municipal Solid Waste)'s seasonal emission characteristics were investigated in order to establish new MBT management system. and additional thermal buffer-materials's calorific values were also considered to reduce the power plant's load. The results showed that the screening efficiency of MBT facility and the physical characteristics of each waste can be identified, and the calorific value by seasonal variation for MBT facility can be kept constant all the year round by using an additional thermal buffer-materials.

  • 본 연구는 반도체 검사공정 중의 하나인 MBT 공정의 Rework 투입정책에 관한 연구이다. MBT 공정에서는 제품의 신뢰성과는 상관없이 설비오류로 인한 불량품이 다량으로 발생한다. 이러한 불량품을 MBT 공정의 재검사 작업인 Rework을 통해 양품으로 전환하게 된다. MBT 공정의 Rework은 FAB 공정 이후의 많은 공정을 거치지 않고 단일공정 진행으로 새로운 양품을 얻을 수 있는 이점을 가진다. 반면에 Rework 비용 및 공정재고비용이 발생하는 특징이 있다. 현재 MBT 공정의 Rework 작업은 정해진 규칙 없이 작업자 경험에 의존하여 진행하며, 제품의 중요도 및 재고량에 따라 투입이 정해진다. 또한 주문 작업의 투입일정과 납기를 고려하지 않은 Rework 작업으로 인해 납기차질이 발생하기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 Rework 작업이 생산계획에 영향을 주지 않는 범위 안에서의 투입계획을 제안한다. 또한 MBT 공정의 Rework 이익인 제조원가 절감이익과 비용인 Rework 비용, 재고비용을 고려한 Rework 제품 투입정책을 제안한다.

Analysis of Butyltin Compounds(mono-, di-, and tributyltin) in Human Blood (혈액 중의 주석화합물(MBT, DBT, TBT)의 분석과 농도에 관한 연구)

  • Butyltin compounds, including mono-(MBT), di-(DBT) and tributyltin(TBT) were analyzed in 44 human blood samples randomly collected from a hospital in "K" a city. Gas chromatograph equipped with flame photometric detector(FPD) was used to quantify the amounts of butylin compounds. Method detection limits(MDL) of this analytical method were 3.69ng Sn/g for MBT, 0.91ng Sn/g for DBT and 1.09ng Sn/g wet wt for TBT respectively. Standard reference material(SRM) containing of $1.3{\mu}g/g$ TBT as chloride was analyzed to check if this analytical results would be reliable. Recovery of about 90% was obtained through this analysis, indicating that the analytical method from butyltin compounds blood was reliable. The concentrations of butyltin compounds ranged MDL(<3.69) to 7.93ng Sn/g for MBT and 1.15 to 5.41ng Sn/g wet wt for DBT. Tributyltin was below detection limit in all samples. Detection limits of our results are lower than those reported by Kannan et al. who reported butyltin compounds in 33 human blood samples in the United States. Detection of MBT and DBT on blood sample implies that butyltin compounds could be absorbed through consumption of seafoods or exposure to food stuffs made of plastics and household items. Further study is needed to examine if butyltin compounds in blood can be reliably analyzed and used as intake index.

  • SRMD system which protects MBT from the threats in a short range is composed of 2 radars, 2 IRTs 1 CCU and 2 countermeasures. To analyze the performance of this system, there is a need to make the model of MBT on which this system is loaded. In this paper, a method of MBT movement modeling is proposed to fulfill the above need. The methods of the coordinate system transformation among the components and the modeling of a hull's traveling and a turret's turning are proposed. The method of the modeling of a pose variation caused by the vibrations is proposed and the results of the modeling are presented.

Characterization of Paenibacillus sp. MBT213 Isolated from Raw Milk and Its Ability to Convert Ginsenoside Rb1 into Ginsenoside Rd from Panax ginseng

  • This study was conducted to isolate and characterize Paenibacillus sp. MBT213 possessing ${\beta}$-glucosidase activity from raw milk, and examine the enzymatic capacity on the hydrolysis of a major ginsenoside ($Rb_1$). Strain MBT213 was found to have a high hydrolytic ability on ginsenoside $Rb_1$ by Esculin Iron Agar test. 16S rDNA analysis revealed that MBT213 was Paenibacillu sp. Crude enzyme of MBT213 strain exhibited high conversion capacity on ginsenoside $Rb_1$ into ginsenoside Rd proven by TLC and HPLC analyses. The API ZYM kit confirmed that Paenibacillu sp. MBT213 exerted higher ${\beta}$-glucosidase and ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity than other strains. Optimum pH and temperature for crude enzyme were found at 7.0 and $35^{\circ}C$ in hydrolysis of ginsenoside $Rb_1$. After 10 d of optimal reaction conditions for the crude enzyme, ginsenoside $Rb_1$ fully converted to ginsenoside Rd. Ginseng roots (20%) were fermented for 14 d, and analyzed by HPLC showed that amount of ginsenoside $Rb_1$ significantly decreased, while that of ginsenoside Rd was significantly increased. The study confirmed that the ${\beta}$-glucosidase produced by Paenibacillus sp. MBT213 can hydrolyze the major ginsenoside $Rb_1$ and convert to Rd during fermentation of the ginseng. The ${\beta}$-glucosidase activity of this novel Paenibacillus sp. MBT213 strain may be utilized in development of variety of health foods, dairy foods and pharmaceutical products.

Comparative Efficacy of Antifungal Agents for Aquaculture Fish and their Eggs (양식 어류와 이들 난에 대한 항곰팡이성 약물들의 효과 비교)

  • In fresh water fish hatcheries and farms, Saprolegniales often cause serious mortality to the fish and their eggs. Malachite green is an effective antifungal agent, but is carcinogenic to fish and humans. Alternative antifungal agents are needed. Presently, we tested various concentrations of MBT-01108 (Opuntia ficus-indica extracts) alone and in combination with bronopol, formalin and sodium chloride (MBT-01108 mixture) on in vitro mycelial growth and in vivo remediation of adult eel, Anguilla japonica, infected with Saprolegnia sp. and fertilized eggs of chum salmon, Oncorhynchus keta, to evaluate the compounds' antifungal efficacy on eyed-egg and hatching rates. MBT-Oll08 mixtures incorporating bronopol and formalin at respective concentrations of 50 and 30 parts per million (ppm), and 100 and 20 ppm were most effective in controlling Saprolegnia in vitro and in vivo (P<0.05). Repeated daily exposures to 50 ppm and 100 ppm MBT-01108 were more effective than exposure every 2-3 days post-fertilization for the inhibition of Saprolegnia infection of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss eggs as compared with control (0 ppm).

Distribution of Butyltin Compounds in Surface Sediments inside Hallim Harbor of Jeiu Island, Korea (제주도 한림항내 표층퇴적물 중의 부틸주석화합물의 분포)

  • Butyltin compounds (BTs), namely tributyltin (TBT), dibutyltin (DBT) and monobutyltin (MBT), were measured in surface sediments collected in 2001 inside Hallim Harbor where a lot of shipping occurs as one of major harbors of Jeju Island, in order to evaluate their distribution. BTs were detected in surface sediments of all stations and their concentrations were comparable to those in surface sediments of other sites of domestic and foreign countries. The main species among BTs was MBT, although there was a little difference with a survey site. No correlations were obtained between organic matter or particles size of surface sediments and total BTs, indicating that these factors did not affect on the distribution of BTs. It was estimated that more complex factors including BTs loads and surrounding sedimentary environments, affected on the distribution of BTs. The high correlations between BTs indicated that DBT and MBT were mainly degraded from TBT based on antifouling paints of vessel etc. and other sources, such as DBT and MBT, could be ignored. The butyltin degradation indexes ([DBT] + [MBT]/[TBT]) Ivere in the range of 1.5∼3.3 (mean 2.5), indicating that the parent compound, TBT, were inflowed into the surface sediments a long years ago and degraded.

Antimicrobial activity of hydrolysis compound of cactus stem (Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten Makino) against fish pathogenic bacteria (손바닥선인장 줄기 가수분해 분획물의 어류 병원성 세균에 대한 항균활성)

  • In this study, we examined in vitro antimicrobial activity of the hydrolysis compound (MBT-01108) of cactus stem (Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten Makino) against 18 strains of fish pathogenic bacteria, Edwardsiella tarda, Listonella anguillarum, Vibrio sp., Lactococcus garvieae, L. raffinose, Streptococcus parauberis and S. iniae. Antibiotic susceptibility of the same bacteria was also assayed to commercial discs containing various antibacterials. According to these results, MBT-01108 showed the excellent antimicrobial activity against the tested pathogenic bacteria.
