MAC Layer Based Certificate Authentication for Multiple Certification Authority in MANET

  • In this study, a novel Randomly Shifted Certification Authority Authentication protocol was used in ad hoc networks to provide authentication by considering the MAC layer characteristics. The nodes achieve authentication through the use of public key certificates issued by a CA, which assures the certificate's ownership. As a part of providing key management, the active CA node transfers the image of the stored public keys to other idle CA nodes. Finally the current active CA randomly selects the ID of the available idle CA and shifts the CA ownership by transferring it. Revoking is done if any counterfeit or duplicate non CA node ID is found. Authentication and integrity is provided by preventing MAC control packets, and Enhanced Hash Message Authentication Code (EHMAC) can be used. Here EHMAC with various outputs is introduced in all control packets. When a node transmits a packet to a node with EHMAC, verification is conducted and the node replies with the transmitter address and EHMAC in the acknowledgement.

  • This paper proposes a new security system to detect cyber-attacks based on message authentication in a in-vehicle network. In the in-vehicle network, when a sending node transmits messages in a broadcast manner, it only uses a message identifier, rather than a node's identifier. It leads to a problem not identifying the source. In the proposed system, the sending node generates a message authentication code (MAC) using a cryptographic hash function to the control data and transmits it with the control data. When generating the MAC for each message, a multidimensional chaotic map is applied to increase the randomness of the result. The receiving node compares its MAC generated from the control data in the received message with the MAC of the received message to detect whether the message transmitted from the sending node is forged or not. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system by using CANoe and CAPL (Communication Access Programming Language). Our system shows a 100% of detection rate against cyber-attacks injected.

  • This paper proposes and analyzes the MAC(Message Authentication Code) algorithm that is used for the transition integrity and the entity authentication of message. The MAC algorithm uses the DES algorithm which has 64-bit block and 56-bit key and we compare the security according to 64-bit and 32-bit length of MAC value. Moreover, we use the SEED algorithm which has 128-bit block and 128-bit key and compare the security according to 128-bit and 64-bit length of MAC value. We analyze the security the forgery attack according to length of message and length of MAC value. this paper, a coarse-to-fine optical flow detection method is proposed. Provided that optical flow gives reliable approximation to two-dimensional image motion, it can be used to recover the three-dimensional motion. but usually to get the reliable optical flows are difficult. The proposed algorithm uses Horn's algorithm (or detecting initial optical flow, then Thin Plate Spline is introduced to warp a image frame of the initial optical flow to the next image frame. The optical flow for the warped image frame is again used iteratively until the mean square error between two image sequence frames is lowered. The proposed method is experimented for the real moving Picture image sequence. The proposed algorithm gives dense optical flow vectors.

  • For the secure control of the communication satellite, security mechanisms should be employed on the ground station as well as on the spacecraft. In this paper, we present a security architecture fur the spacecraft command security of the communication satellite. An authentication mechanism is also proposed using message authentication code (MAC) based on the Data Encryption Standard (DES) cryptosystem.

  • Demand on information security in mobile devices based control system grows rapidly with a view to counteracting information hacking and leakage. Among these techniques, encryption and authentication are most common. This paper presents CBC-MAC (Cipher Block Chaining-Message Authentication Code) based mobile devices control system. The system is termed as Secure Mobile in Vehicle (SMIV)We use CBC-MAC that is one of the most efficient authentication modes to protect information against any malicious attacks. By sharing the secret key of CBC-MAC between the transmitter and receiver, it asserts authentic information. The proposed system is verified in such a way that we develop mobile devices control system, apply the CBC-MAC algorithm to the control system and validate the received data. Unlike conventional systems where the development of control mechanism in mobile devices based control systems is main concern, this proposed system offers a secure communication link of the data in mobile devices control system and therefore would be useful to the design and implementation of various mobile devices based control systems.

  • In order to combat the security threats that sensor networks are exposed to, a cryptography protocol is implemented at sensor nodes for point-to-point encryption between nodes. Given that nodes have limited resources, symmetric cryptography that is proven to be efficient for low power devices is implemented. Data protection is integrated into a sensor's packet by the means of symmetric encryption with the Dragon stream cipher and incorporating the newly designed Dragon-MAC Message Authentication Code. The proposed algorithm was designed to employ some of the data already computed by the underlying Dragon stream cipher for the purpose of minimizing the computational cost of the operations required by the MAC algorithm. In view that Dragon is a word based stream cipher with a fast key stream generation, it is very suitable for a constrained environment. Our protocol regarded the entity authentication and message authentication through the implementation of authenticated encryption scheme in wireless sensor nodes.

  • Ari Juels proposed Yoking-Proof protocol for authenticating multiple tags simultaneously using RFID system. Because common Yoking-Proof methods authenticate by using MAC (Message Authentication Code), it is difficult to apply them to inexpensive tags. It is also difficult to implement common hash functions such as MD5 in inexpensive tags. So, Ari Juels also proposed a lightweighted Yoking-Proof method with only 1 authentication. However, Minimalist MAC, which is a lightweighted MAC used in the proposed method is for single-use, and the proposed structure is vulnerable to replay attacks. Therefore, in this study, the minimalist MAC using Lamport's digital signature scheme was adopted, and a new type of Yoking-Proof protocol was proposed where it uses tags that are safe from replay attacks while being able to save multiple key values.

  • Message Authentication Code (MAC) assures integrity of messages. In Mobile WiMAX, 128-bit Cipher-based MAC (CMAC) is calculated for management messages but only the least significant half is actually used truncating the most significant 64 bits. Naming these unused most significant 64bits Shared Authentication Information (SAI), we suggest that SAI can be applied to protect the network from DDoS attack which exploits idle mode vulnerabilities. Since SAI is the unused half of CMAC, it is as secure as 64bits of CMAC and no additional calculations are needed to obtain it. Moreover, SAI doesn't have to be exchanged through air interface and shared only among MS, BS, and ASN Gateway. With these good properties, SAI can efficiently reduce the overheads of BS and ASN GW under the DDoS attack.

  • The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is currently an important approach to improve personal safety and driving comfort. ANEL is a MAC-based authentication scheme that offers all the advantages of MAC-based authentication schemes and overcomes all their limitations at the same time. In addition, the given scheme, ANEL, can achieve the security objectives such as authentication, privacy preservation, non-repudiation, etc. In addition, our scheme provides effective bio-password login, system key update, bio-password update, and other security services. Additionally, in the proposed scheme, the Trusted Authority (TA) can disclose the source driver and vehicle of each malicious message. The heavy traffic congestion increases the number of messages transmitted, some of which need to be secretly transmitted between vehicles. Therefore, ANEL requires lightweight mechanisms to overcome security challenges. To ensure security in our ANEL scheme we can use cryptographic techniques such as elliptic curve technique, session key technique, shared key technique and message authentication code technique. This article proposes a new efficient and light authentication scheme (ANEL) which consists in the protection of texts transmitted between vehicles in order not to allow a third party to know the context of the information. A detail of the mapping from text passing to elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) to the inverse mapping operation is covered in detail.   • Recently, the most brand new vehicles contain a lot of ECU for comfortable and safety driving environments. For efficient communication network among ECUs, almost car manufactures use CAN protocol which enables to decrease the number of communication lines dramatically and ensures higher data transmission reliability. However, CAN dose not ensure authentication of CAN data frame. So it is vulnerable to replay-attack on CAN data frame. This paper proposes the practical message authentication technique for In-vehicle CAN. To transmit data and MAC together, it is very useful to use the short length of MAC after considering limited space of CAN data frame. However to ensure safety of MAC, additional technique is required. We suggested a message authentication technique that can be usefully applied to build a safety network inside the vehicle because it considers limited data payload of CAN.
