A Case Study of the Habitat Changes for the Fish Community due to the Restoration of Pool-Riffle Sequence (여울-소 출현 복원을 통한 다양한 어종의 서식처 변화 연구)

  • The present study aimed to investigate the impact of the restoration of the restoration technique on fish habitat using a physical habitat simulation in the Wonju-cheon Stream, Korea. The target species were Pungtungia herzi, Zacco platypus, and Zacco Koreanus, a dominant and sub-dominant species in the Wonju-cheon Stream. The River2D model was used for the computation of the flow and the habitat suitability index model was used to estimate the quality and quantity of habitat using habitat suitability curve. To assess the impact of pool-riffle sequence on change of fish habitat, this present study conducted using the each representative distance, namely, 50 m, 100 m, 200 m, and 300 m. Simulation results indicated that the pool-reffle sequence significantly increased the habitats for the target species than the result without considering pool-riffle sequence. On average, 53% of the Weighted Usable Area (WUA) increased due to pool-riffle sequence in the study area.

Pressure Drop due to Friction in Small Rectangular Channel (미소 사각 채널에서의 마찰 압력 강하)

  • An experimental study was carried out to measure frictional pressure drop in flow boiling to deionized water in a microchannel having a hydraulic diameter of $500{\mu}m$. Tests were performed in the ranges of heat fluxes from 100 to $400kW/m^2$, vapor qualities from 0 to 0.2 and mass fluxes of 200, 400 and $600kg/m^2s$. The frictional pressure drop during flow boiling is predicted by using two models; the homogeneous model that assumes equal phase velocity and the separate flow model that allows a slip velocity between two phases. From the experimental results, it is found that the two phase multiplier decreases with an increase in mass flux. Measured data of pressure drop are compared to a few available correlations proposed for macroscale and mini/microscale. The homogeneous model well predicted frictional pressure drop within MAE of 29.4 % for the test conditions considered in this work.

  • In this paper, we study the competition between two kinds of suppliers, a bricks and mortars(B&M) and a clicks and mortars(C&M). Using the circular spatial market model, we derive and analyze the Nash and Stackelberg equilibria as a function of offline market share and efficiency of online channel of the C&M supplier. The result can be summarized as follows: (1) Stackelberg equilibrium is always superior to the Nash equilibrium, (2) Under certain conditions, the price of online channel can be higher than that of offline channel, (3) It is impossible for the C&M supplier to encroach on all of the B&M supplier's market, (4) In some cases, the C&M supplier has incentive to lower the efficiency of its online channel for more profit.

  • This study was conducted to observe the effect of various kinds of sugars and their molar concentrations on the Maillard browning reaction. To observe the effects of various kinds of sugar, glucose, fructose, tagatose, xylose, and sucrose were employed. A model solution consisting of 0.2 M sugar and 0.2 M glycine was prepared and heated at $100^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr. The model solution with adjusted concentrations of either tagatose or glycine was also heated at $100^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr. Tagatose showed the fastest Maillard reaction, followed by xylose, fructose, glucose, and sucrose. After glycine concentration of the model solution was fixed, the model solution showed more browning with an increase in tagatose concentration. When the tagatose concentration of the model solution was fixed, the model solution showed more browning with an increase in glycine concentration. The model solution with a fixed concentration of glycine showed more more browning than that with a fixed concentration of tagatose, since the former had higher amounts of the reactant.

How to Improve Suitability of Irradiation Utilization in Development of Linear Regression Model for Estimating Paprika Productivity (파프리카 생산성 추정을 위한 선형 회귀모형 개발 시 외부광량 활용 적합성을 높이기 위한 방법)

  • The amount of sunlight (irradiation) acts as a very important factor for paprika (Capsicum annuum L.) productivity, but there are difficulties in developing a standard model for estimating paprika productivity using irradiation factors. This study was conducted to investigate how to increase the suitability of using irradiation as an independent variable when developing a standard model. In the linear regression analysis using the independent variable (cumulative irradiation) and the dependent variable (cumulative productivity) were classified as the average value of the total farm productivity (MTFP), and above and below (MHFP, MLFP) based on the average value, respectively. The RMSE value of the estimated linear regression model was 0.9418 kg·m-2 in the MHFP, which was significantly lower than 1.5468 kg·m-2 in the MTFP and 1.3812 kg·m-2 in the MLFP. And in due course of time (month), RMSE value was also the lowest in MHFP, below 1.0 kg·m-2 in all months. Therefore, when developing a regression model for estimating paprika productivity using irradiation, it is judged that it will improve the suitability of the estimation model by classifying and analyzing the difference in productivity of farms with an appropriate method.

Optimal Dimension of PE Film Bag According to Fruit Size in MAP Storage of 'Fuyu' Persimmon Fruit ('부유' 단감 MAP 저장에서 과실 크기에 따른 PE 필름 봉지의 적정 규격)

  • Model for optimally dimensioned PE film bag was developed according to fruit size to maintain best quality of 'Fuyu' persimmon in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) storage based on relationship between quality and oxygen and carbon dioxide in PE film bag. Harvested persimmons were graded into five sizes, and average weights were LL:261, L:217, M:188, S:168, and SS:154 g. Five fruit units of each grade were optimized in five PE film bag sizes of $150{\times}376,\;140{\times}357,\;130{\times}344,\;130{\times}333,\;and\;120{\times}3l8\;mm$. To minimize quality deterioration such as softening and discoloration, optimal oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations in PE film bag were 0.5-1.0 and 6.0-8.0%, respectively, and optimal thickness of PE film bag according to fruit size were LL:45, L:50, M:55, S:60, and $SS:65\;{\mu}m$. For all fruit sizes, model for PE film bag area $(mm^2)$ was good quadratic simple equation by fruit weight (g): $Y=-4055.707+627.993X_1-0.701{X_1}^2$. Model far optimal oxygen and carbon dioxide (Y) concentration in PE film bag was suited to linear multiple equation by fruit weight $(X_1,\;g)$ and PE film thickness $(X_2,\;{\mu}m)$. Equations for oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations (%) were $Y=5.798-0.0109X_l-0.0491X_2\;and\;Y=-2.427+0.01927X_l +0.09646X_2$, respectively.

Equilibrium Moisture Content of Korean Ginseng (인삼(人蔘)의 평형함수율(平衡含水率)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study intended to measure the desorption and adsorption EMC of four years old Peeled ginseng, Unpeeled ginseng and Taegeuk ginseng under various conditions$20^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$) and five levels of relative humidity from 31% to 88%) by the static method. Four widely used EMC models were selected and evaluated. Also the empirical model was evaluated. The results are summarized as follows ; 1) EMC difference between ginseng size was not found but found between ginseng species. EMC difference between Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was not found. EMC of Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was higher than that of Taegeuk ginseng. 2) The hysteresis, which is difference between desorption and adsorption EMC, was found. Desorption EMC was higher than adsorption EMC. The hysteresis at the same temperature decreased as relative humidity increase. The difference of hysteresis between Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was not large and the hysteresis of Taegeuk ginseng was smaller than those of other species. 3) Among the selected models, Henderson model was the best to predict the adsorption EMC of White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng), and Oswin model was the best to predict the desorption EMC of White ginseng and the desorption and adsorption EMC of Taegeuk ginseng. Dynamics of a bridge beam under a stream of moving elements -Part 2 - Numerical simulations

  • The paper constitutes the second part of the author's study. The first part (Podworna 2010) formulates four fundamental tasks in dynamics of the bridge-track-train systems. The following cyclic moving loads are considered: a concentrated forces stream (model P), an unsprung masses stream (model M), a single-mass viscoelastic oscillators stream (model $M_o$) and a double-mass viscoelastic oscillators stream (model $MM_o$). Three problems precluding to the numerical simulations have been developed, i.e., prediction of the forced resonances, the parameters of integration of equations of motion, the output results. A computer programme was written in Pascal and numerical research in the scope of the fundamental tasks was worked out. The investigations were focused on adequacy evaluation of the moving load models, P, M, $M_o$, $MM_o$, in predicting dynamic processes in railway bridges.

Inter-device Mutual authentication and Formal Verification in M2M Environment (M2M 환경에서 장치간 상호 인증 및 정형검증)

  • In line with the advanced wireless communication technology, M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication has drawn attention in industry. M2M communication features are installed and operated in the fields where human accessibility is highly limited such as disaster, safety, construction, health and welfare, climate, environment, logistics, culture, defense, medical care, agriculture and stockbreeding. In M2M communication, machine replaces people for automatic communication and countermeasures as part of unmanned information management and machine operation. Wireless M2M inter-device communication is likely to be exposed to intruders' attacks, causing security issues, which warrants proper security measures including cross-authentication of whether devices are legitimate. Therefore, research on multiple security protocols has been conducted. The present study applied SessionKey, HashFunction and Nonce to address security issues in M2M communication and proposed a safe protocol with reinforced security properties. Notably, unlike most previous studies arguing for the security of certain protocols based on mathematical theorem proving, the present study used the formal verification with Casper/FDR to prove the safety of the proposed protocol. In short, the proposed protocol was found to be safe and secure.

Physical Parameters of Late Type Spiral Galaxies I-Mass and Luminosity of NGC 6946

  • Using Brandt model the mess distribution of the late type spiral galaxy NGC 6946 was derived, and the total mass was reestimated to understand the M/L ratio of this galaxy. Two kinds of the rotation curve with shape parameter n=1 and 3.3 were examined. The following are the main results; (1) The total masses of NGC 6946 are $3.1\times$$10^{11}$ M(n=1) AND $2.8\times$$10^{11}$ M(n=3.3) respectively. and the corresponding M/L are about 17 and 16 for both cases. (2) The optical image in the blue light, whose radius is 9.6 kpc, has 8$\times$$10^{10}$ M and 1.4$\times$$10^{11}$ M. These give the value of M/L about 5 and 8 respectively. (3) The masses and M/L of the nuclear region within 1.2 kpc are 4.0$\times$$10^{9}$ M 4.7$\times$$10^9$ M and 3, 4 for both cases. Those of the disk from 1.2 kpc to 9.6 kpc are 7.6$\times$1$10^{10}$M, 1.4$\times$$10^{11}$M, and 5, 8. (4) The masses of the outer halo extended to few hundreds kiloparsecs are 2.3$\times$$10^{11}$ M and 1.4$\times$$10^{11}$M. The corresponding M/L are about 62 and 37.
