Enteric colibacillosis has economically become an important disease of young animals as a result of increasing intensification of farrowing management. The objective of this experiment is to isolate fimbrial antigen from enterotoxigenic E. coli F41, to develop specific polyclonal IgY which can effectively neutralize or reduce the proliferation of pathogens in feed or living animal system, and to apply IgY technologies to animal industry. The results obtained were as follows: The molecular weight of the purified F41 antigen was 29,500 dalton on sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels. Fimbrial antigen was confirmed by the western blot method. It was observed that after immunization the level of serum antibody titer of laying hen was shown in two weeks and gradually increased. The antibody titer in egg yolk appeared two weeks after it was shown in serum antibody. The titers of egg yolk antibody were gradually increased to the maximum level of 320,000 (antigen 50${\mu}g$/$m\ell$), 450,000 (antigen 200${\mu}g$/$m\ell$), and 320,000 (antigen 600${\mu}g$/$m\ell$). According to the results of specificity test by ELISA, the anti-F41 antibodies from chicken serum and egg yolk reacted only with ETEC F41 antigen. There was no cross reaction with other ETEC strains (K88, K99, and 987P). In vitro condition, as a result of antigen binding ability of yolk antibodies, bacterial concentration was rapidly decreased to $10^5$ CFU/$m\ell$ from $10^9$ CFU/$m\ell$ when 2${\sim}$4 mg/$m\ell$ of freeze dried WSF (water soluble fraction) was added.
Ferroelectric properties of the PMT-PT were also studied from the temperature dependence of hysteresis loops using a method slightly modified from Sawyer-Tower's. Dielectric, pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties of the ceramics in the system PMT-PT were investigated. The resulted densities of the PMT-PT ceramics system were greater than 97 % of the theoretical value. As observed SEM micrograph of the fracture surfaces of the PMT-PT ceramics system, the average grain sizes were increased about 3-5 ${\mu}m$ to 6-8 ${\mu}m$ with increasing sintering temperature. The specimens with PT<0.30 for PMT-PT solid solution system exhibited the dielectric and pyroelectric properties of a typical relaxor ferroelectrics. The composition with the maximum dielectric constant exhibits relatively superior pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties.

In this study, WET (whole effluent toxicity) test with Skeletonema costatum, Tigriopus japonicus and Paralichthys olivaceus and ERA (environmental risk assessment) were conducted to assess the unacceptable effect on marine ecosystem by emitting the treated discharge water from 'ARA Plasma BWTS' BWMS (ballast water management system) using filtration, Plasma and MPUV module. 34 psu treated discharge water from ARA Plasma BWTS shown slight chronic toxicity effect on the P. olivaceus ($7d-LC_{50}{\Rightarrow}100.00%$ treated discharge water, $7d-LC_{25}{\Rightarrow}85.15%$ treated discharge water). Bromobenzene, chlorobenzene and 4-chlorotoluene in 34 psu treated discharge water from ARA Plasma BWTS were higher than in the background original content of seawater. The PECs (predictive environmental concentrations) of bromobenzene, chlorobenzene and 4-chlorotoluene calculated by MAMPEC (marine antifoulant model to predict environmental concentrations) program (ver. 3.0) were 3.34E-03, 2.10E-03 and 1.73E-03 ${\mu}g\;L^{-1}$, respectively and PNECs (predicted no effect concentrations) of them were 1.6, 0.5 and 1.9 ${\mu}g\;L^{-1}$. The PEC/PNEC ratio of bromobenzene, chlorobenzene and 4-chlorotoluene did not exceed one and 3 substances did not consider as persistence, bioaccumulative and toxic. Therefore, it was suggested that treated discharge water from ARA Plasma BWTS did not pose unacceptable effect on marine ecosystem.

The injection molding of the plastic optics is basically same as the conventional molding except it requires very intricate control of all the molding processing parameters. In the plastic optics, the problem of injection molding is the shrinkage. The shrinkage must be removed and predicted. This shrinkage is becoming more important than any other problems in precision molding because it can affect the focal length of a lens or the total performance of the optical system. This study focused on avoiding the shrinkage that the mold design allows for the optics. In making mold, the surface accuracy(P-V) of the lower and lower mold are $0.201{\mu}m\;and\;0.434{\mu}m$ respectively. A surface roughness(Ra) is below $0.02{\mu}m$ due to selecting the appropriate tools and using the injection molding machine in high degree. In injection molding of the plastic lens, mold temperature, resine temperature and injecting pressure are important process parameters. Injection molding process is carried out according to varying mold temperature and injecting pressure. As a result P-V(peak to valley) of spheric lens is $3.478{\mu}m$ and that of aspheric lens is $1.786{\mu}m$.
Germline stem cells (GSCs) are the best understood adult stem cell types in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, and have provided an important model system for studying stem cells and their cell fate in vivo, in mammals. In this review, we propose a mechanism that controls GSCs and their cell fate through selective activation, repression and mobilization of the specific mRNAs. This mechanism is acutely controlled by known signal transduction pathways (e.g., Notch signaling and Ras-ERK MAPK signaling pathways) and P granule (analogous to mammalian germ granule)-associated mRNA regulators (FBF-1, FBF-2, GLD-1, GLD-2, GLD-3, RNP-8 and IFE-1). Importantly, all regulators are highly conserved in many multi-cellular animals. Therefore, GSCs from a simple animal may provide broad insight into vertebrate stem cells (e.g., hematopoietic stem cells) and their cell fate specification.
The gene for mannose enzyme II of phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent phosphotransferase system from Corynebacterium glutamicum KCTC 1445 was cloned into Escherichia coli ZSC113 using plasmid pBR 322. The recombinant plasmid, designated pCTS3, contained 2.2 kb DNA fragment, and the physical map of the cloned DNA fragment was determined. The E. coli ptsM ptsG mutant transformed with pCTS3 restored glucose and mannose fermentation ability, and grew well on these sugars as the sole carbon source in the minimal medium. The transform ant harboring pCTS3 showed a PTS-mediated repression of growth on maltose by mannose analogue, 2-deoxyglucose. The specificity of the response to 2DG therefore indicates that the cloned DNA fragment carries mannose enzyme II gene.

The mechanical properties of bellows, such as the extensibility and the strength can be changed depending on the shape. For the shipbuilding material, it is favorable that the fatigue life is long due to the elastic property and the reduction of thermal stress in piping system. Nowadays, the domestic production and design of bellows are based on the E.J.M.A Code. Therefore, the design standard is in need because of much errors and lack of detailed analysis. In this study, it is attempted to find out the optimal shape of U-type bellows using the finite element method. The effective factors, mountain height, length, thickness, and number of mountains and the length of joint are considered and the proper values are chosen for the simulation. The results shows that if the number of mountains are reduced, the volume decreases while the stress increases. However, the number of mountains are increased, the volume increases above the standard volume and the stress obviously increases. In addition, the effect of the thickness of bellows on the stress is very large. Both of the volume and stress are decreasing at a certain lower value region.
Effect of rib heights is found as significant parameter to enhance convective heat transfer performance under laminar and low turbulent regime. Circular ribs with different ribheight to channel height ratios, e/H = 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, are fabricated over the copper substrate respectively in a rectangular duct having 7.5 cross sectional aspect ratio. Only one rib pitch to rib height ratio (P/e = 10) has been chosen for all different height ribs. The result shows that the arithmetic average of turbulence intensity decreases with decreasing roughness height calculated between two ribs under laminar and low turbulent region. It occurs because the area of recirculation and reattachment zone also decreases with decreasing rib height. Optimum thermal enhancement factor is derived by 0.1 rib height to channel height ratio under low turbulent region but 0.15 rib height to channel height ratio gives maximum subjected to laminar flow.

A development of disposable strip-type galactose sensor for point-of-care testing (POCT) was studied, which was constructed using screen-printed carbon electrodes. Galactose levels were determined by the redox reaction of galactose oxidase in the presence of potassium ferricyanide as an electron transfer mediator in a small sample volume (i.e., less than 1 µL). The optimal performance of biosensor was systematically designated by varying applied potential, operating pH, mediator concentration, and amount of enzyme on the electrode. The sensor system was identified as a highly active for the galactose measurement in terms of the sensitivity (slope = 4.76 ± 0.05 nA/µM) with high sensor-to-sensor reproducibility, the linearity (R2 = 0.9915 in galactose concentration range from 0 to 400 µM), and response time (t95% = <17 s). A lower applied potential (i.e., 0.25 V vs. Ag/AgCl) allowed to minimize interference from readily oxidizable metabolites such as ascorbic acid, acetaminophen, uric acid, and acetoacetic acid. The proposed galactose sensor represents a promising system with advantage for use in POCT.
Purpose: In this study, we tried to compare marginal accuracy when produce ceramic crown using all ceramic materials and existent metal-ceramic system. Material and methods: All-ceramic systems were E-max (Ivoclar/Vivadent, Lichtenstein), Lava(3M, U.S.A.) and Wol-ceram(Teamziereis, Germany). Metal-ceramic system(PFG) was composed of Au-Pt alloy (Metalor, Switzerlandand) and overlying ceramic(D-sign, Ivoclar/Vivadent, Lichtenstein). We fabricated metal master die with upper diameter of 7.95mm, bottom diameter of 9.00mm, height of 5.00mm, and taper of $6^{\circ}$. All ceramic system used 0.5mm thickness ceramic coping, while metalceramic system used 0.3 thickness metal coping. By adding dentin and enamel ceramics on each coping, a crown with a proximal thickness of 1.0 mm and occlusal thickness of 2.0mm was fabricated. Pressure of 2kg was applied for 10 seconds on each crown with static load compressor. Before and after cementation, we measured the marginal gap at 4 points of each crown using optical microscope. The data was analyzed using a Student's t test and repeated-measures of analyses of variance(ANOVA) followed by a Bonferroni test. A p value<0.05 was considered significant. Results: As experiment results, marginal accuracy of wol-ceram and Lava is no good when compared with marginal accuracy of PFG. But marginal accuracy of E.max is good when compared with PFG. This result showed not significant. The marginal accuracy of E.max is good when compared with marginal accuracy of wol-ceram and Lava. Conclusion: The marginal accuracy of E.max is very good when compared with marginal accuracy of another group.
