음식점 식육 원산지 표시 모니터링 (Monitoring of Restaurant Beef Labeling System)

  • 식품위생법개정에 의한 음식점 식육 원산지 표시제가 시행됨에 따라 표시제도의 정착을 위해 마련한 과학적 한우판별 시험법을 이용하여 소고기 원산지 표시제에 대한 실패를 전국적 규모로 점검하였다. 본 연구에 사용한 한우판별시험법은 앞선 사업에서 검증된 90개의 한우판별용 SNP 바이오마커를 이용한 시험방법으로 소고기원산지표시제의 제도정착에 큰 기여를 하고 있다. 2009년도 식품안전관리지침에 계획도니 음식점 소고기 원산지 표시제 시행 대상 음식점으로는 구이용 쇠고기 판매 음식점으로서 영업장 면접이 $100m^2$이상인 곳 가운데 서울지역 48개 시료 및 지방 168개 시료 등 총 216건에 대하여 원산지 표시실태 모니터링 검사를 실시하였으며, 그 결과 총 검체의 1.3% (3건/216건)가 허위표시임이 파악되었다. 이는 2008년도의 모니터링 검사를 통하여 확인한 허위표시 비율인 5.14%에 비해 감소한 결과로 "음식점식육원산지표시제"가 점차 정착되고 있는 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 한우판별시험법이 마련되기 전 실시했던 음식점 소고기 원산지 표시에 대한 모니터링 실시결과 2005년 34.0%, 2006년 30.1%으로 나타난 반면 한우판별시험법이 확립된 후 모니터링 결과는 2007년도 3.2%, 2008년도 5.14%으로 나타나 한우판별시헙법의 확립이 음식점 소고기 원산지 표시제에 큰 기여를 하고 있음을 증명해 주고 있다.

기후변화 대응을 위한 RCP 시나리오 기반 국내 열지수와 불쾌지수 예측 (Future Prediction of Heat and Discomfort Indices based on two RCP Scenarios)

  • There has been an increasing need to assess the effects of climate change on human health. It is hard to use climate data to evaluate health effects because such data have a grid format, which could not represent specific cities or provinces. Therefore, the grid-format climate data of South Korea based on RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) scenarios were modified into area-format climate data according to the major cities or provinces of the country, up to the year 2100. Moreover, heat index (HI) and discomfort index (DI) databases were developed from the modified climate database. These databases will soon be available for experts via a Website, and the expected HI and DI of any place in the country, or at any time, can be found in the country's climate homepage (http://www.climate.go.kr). The HI and DI were analyzed by plotting the average indices every ten years, and by comparing cities or provinces with index level changes, using the geographic information system (GIS). Both the HI and DI are expected to continually increase from 2011 to 2100, and to reach the most dangerous level especially in August 2100. Among the major cities of South Korea, Gwangju showed the highest HI and DI, and Gangwon province is expected to be the least affected area in terms of HI and DI among all the country's provinces.

단호박 분말을 첨가한 국수의 품질 특성 (Selected Physicochemical and Consumer Preference Characteristics of Noodles Incorporated with Sweet Pumpkin Powder)

  • 단호박 분말의 첨가량을 달리하여 국수를 제조한 후 물리화학적 및 관능적 품질 특성을 비교하였다. 단호박 분말 첨가량이 증가할수록 국수의 pH, 당도 및 탁도는 유의적으로 증가하는 경향이 나타났다(P<0.05). 부피는 20% 첨가군(52.67 mL)이 가장 높았으며 단호박 분말의 첨가량이 많을수록 유의적으로 증가하였으나(P<0.05), 5~15% 첨가군 사이에서 유의적인 차이는 발견되지 않았다(P>0.05). 국수의 함수율은 대조군이 81.47%이며, 20% 첨가군이 53.80%로 단호박 분말 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 유의적으로 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며(P<0.05), 수분결합능력 또한 유의적으로 감소하였다(P<0.05). 국수의 L* 값은 분말의 첨가량이 증가할수록 유의적으로 감소하였고(P<0.05), a* 값은 단계적인 유의적 증가를 보였으며(P<0.05), b* 값은 첨가군이 대조군보다 유의적으로 높았으나 첨가군(5~20%) 내에서 유의적인 차이는 발견되지 않았다(P>0.05). 국수의 전자공여능은 단호박 분말의 첨가량이 증가할수록 유의적으로 증가하였으나(P<0.05), 대조군과 5% 첨가군에서는 유의적인 차이가 발견되지 않았다(P>0.05). 한편 소비자 선호도 검사결과 씹힘성을 제외한 모든 항목에서 10% 첨가군이 다른 시료에 비해 유의적으로 높게 평가되었으며(P<0.05), 따라서 관능적 품질을 유지하면서 단호박 분말의 기능성 효과를 기대하기에 최적 첨가 농도는 10%가 가장 적절할 것으로 판단된다.

식품중 불법함유된 발기부전치료제 성분 검출을 위한 동시분석법 연구 (Simultaneous Identification/Determination System for Sildenafil, Homosildenafil, Vardenafil and Tadalafil as Adulterants in Foods)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 ${\cdot}$ 외에서 유통되는 건강관련식품 중 성기능 개선 및 효과에 대하여 광고 ${\cdot}$ 판매하고 있는 제품들에 대하여 최근 의약품으로 허가된 발기부전치료제인 sildenafil, vardenafil, tadalafil 및 sildenafil의 유사물질인 homosildenafil을 대상으로 정성과 정량을 위한 동시분석법을 개발하고 유통 제품 중의 함량을 분석하여 함유 실태를 파악하고자 하였다. 네 가지 성분을 확인할 수 있는 TLS와 LC/MS 분석방법을 개발하였으며, LC/PDA를 사용한 동시 정량분석법을 개발하고, 건강보조식품 등 건강관련 식품중 sildenafil 등 4종 물질에 대해 총 35개의 시료를 분석한 결과 sildenafil이 7종에서 0.4 mg/g~360.9 mg/g, homosildenafil이 7종에서 2.2 mg/g~336.0 mg/g, tadalafid이 2종에서 각각 19.2mg/g, 429.3mg/g로 검출되었으며, 본 여구에서 개발한 동시분석법을 유통식품에 적용 가능하였다.

Acute Pulmonary Toxicity and Body Distribution of Inhaled Metallic Silver Nanoparticles

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the acute pulmonary toxicity of metallic silver nanoparticles (MSNPs, 20.30 nm in diameter). Acute pulmonary toxicity and body distribution of inhaled MSNPs in mice were evaluated using a nose-only exposure chamber (NOEC) system. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid analysis, Western blotting, histopathological changes, and silver burdens in various organs were determined in mice. Mice were exposed to MSNPs for 6 hrs. The mean concentration, total surface area, volume and mass concentrations in the NOEC were maintained at $1.93{\times}10^7$ particles/$cm^3$, $1.09{\times}10^{10}\;nm^2/cm^3$, $2.72{\times}10^{11}\;nm^3/cm^3$, and 2854.62 ${\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. Inhalation of MSPNs caused mild pulmonary toxicity with distribution of silver in various organs but the silver burdens decreased rapidly at 24-hrs post-exposure in the lung. Furthermore, inhaled MSNPs induced activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling in the lung. In summary, single inhaled MSNPs caused mild pulmonary toxicity, which was associated with activated MAPK signaling. Taken together, our results suggest that the inhalation toxicity of MSNPs should be carefully considered at the molecular level.

치과방사선 검사에서 두부(brain)의 흡수선량 평가 (Evaluation the absorbed dose in brain of dental radiography)

  • 치과 방사선검사에 있어 두부 내의 흡수선량에 관한 평가를 하고자 인체모형팬텀 내부의 뇌하수체와 안구, 상악동, 악하선, 갑상선, 식도에 유리형광소자를 삽입하고 X-선을 조사하였다. 사용된 장치로는 Kodak 2200, Kodak 8000C dental radiographic systems과 computed tomography(Lightspeed VCT)이고 촬영조건은 임상에서 사용하는 인자와 동일하게 설정하였다. 이때 구내 X-선 검사의 경우 흡수선량은 0.02~2.47cGy로 가장 높게 측정된 곳은 상악 대구치 촬영 시 2.47cGy인 갑상선이었고 가장 낮은 곳은 하악 전치부 촬영에서 0.02cGy인 악하선이었다. 그리고 구외 X-선 검사의 경우 흡수선량은 세파로에서 0.36~3.44cGy, 파노라마에서 0.14~12.82cGy, 전산화단층촬영에서 8.17~253.63cGy 가장 높게 측정된 곳은 상악 CT 촬영 시 253.63cGy인 악하선이었고 가장 낮은 곳은 파노라마 촬영에서 0.14cGy인 안구이었다. 구외 X-선 검사가 구내 X-선 검사 보다 많은 흡수선량이 측정되었다. 특히 CT를 이용한 검사에서는 구내 촬영보다 100배 이상 높게 측정되었다. 따라서 구외 X-선 검사에 있어서 가이드라인을 제시하여야 하며 방사선에 의한 흡수선량을 줄이기 위한 노력이 요구된다.

Determination of Appropriate Sampling Time for Job Stress Assessment: the Salivary Chromogranin A and Cortisol in Adult Females

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to determine the appropriate sampling time of the salivary stress markers, chromogranin A (CgA) and cortisol as objective indices of job stress assessment in adult females. Methods : The subjects were 20${\sim}$39-year-old women (13 office workers, 11 sales-service workers, and 11 college students) who were eligible for the study and free of acute and chronic medical conditions. Salivary CgA and cortisol levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Saliva samples were collected (2 $m{\ell}$ each) at 7:00, 8:00, 10:30, 12:00, 17:30, and 22:30 on a typical day. Salivary CgA and cortisol levels, according to sampling time, were compared among the three groups using general linear model. The full version of the Korean Occupational Stress Scale (KOSS), which includes socioeconomic characteristics, health behavior, workrelated characteristics, and BMI, was used to access the subjects' job stress. Multiple regression analysis of the job stressors identified by the KOSS was performed on salivary CgA and cortisol levels. Results : The salivary CgA level peaked at 7:00 (time of awakening), then decreased and were maintained at a low level throughout the day, and increased slightly at 17:30. The salivary cortisol level increased steeply within the 1st hour after awakening, followed by a gradual decrease by 12:00, and was then maintained at a low level throughout the day. The salivary cortisol levels of subjects who worked ${\leq}$5 days per week and graduated from the university were significantly lower at 8:00 (p=0.006). The salivary cortisol levels of non-smokers were significantly lower at 7:00 p=0.040) and 8:00 (p=0.003) compared to smokers. There were no significant differences in salivary CgA and cortisol levels at 10:30 and 12:00 in general characteristics. The regression coefficients on salivary CgA level were significant with interpersonal conflict at 17:30 and job insecurity at 22:30. Regression coefficients on salivary cortisol level were significant with organizational system and total job stressors at 17:30. Conclusions : We suggest that the appropriate sampling times for the salivary stress markers, CgA and cortisol, are at 7:00 (time of awakening), 8:00 (1 hour after awakening), 17:30 (early evening), and 22:30 (before sleep).

입원환자 낙상 발생 실태와 원인에 관한 분석 연구 (An Analysis of Fall Incidence Rate and Its Related Factors of Fall in Inpatients)

  • Background: The purpose of this research was to examine the fall incidence rate and its related factors of fall in inpatients. Methods: The data were collected from the 138 fall incident reports in one tertiary hospital in Seoul from April 1st 1999 to September 30th 2001. The Fall Incident Report Form was originally developed based on that of Massachusetts General Hospital revised in 1995. And this was modified for this survey by the collaborating work of QI team including researcher and department of nursing service of this particular hospital. The contents of Fall Incident Form were general characteristics of patient. factors related to fall. types and places of fall. circumstances, nursing interventions. and outcome. Results: 1) The incidence rate of fall was 0.08% of total discharged patients and 0.081 per 1000 patient-day. This incidence rate is much lower than that of several hospitals in USA. This finding might result from the different incidence report system of each hospital. 2) The characteristics of fall-prone patient were found as follows. They were mostly over 60 years old, in alert mental status, ambulatory with some assistance, and dependent on ambulatory device. The types of diseases related high incidence rate were cerebrovascular disease(3.2), hypertension(1.6), cardiovascular disease(1.4), diabetes(1.3) and liver disease(0.6). 3) The majority of fall events usually occurred m bed. bedside(walking or standing) and bathroom in patient room. Usually they were up on their own when they fell. And there were more falls of elderly occurred during night time than day or evening. 4) 63.8% of fall events resulted in physical injuries such as fracture and usually the patients had diagnostic procedures and some treatment(ex. suture) which caused additional cost to the patients and their families. 5) The found risk factors of fall were drugs(antihypertensive drug, diuretics) and environmental factors like too high bed height, long distance of bedside table and lamp switch, and slippery tile of bathroom floor. Conclusion: Considering these results, every medical and nursing staff should be aware of the risk factors of patients in hospital, and should intervene more actively the preventive managements, specially for the elderly patients during night. Therefore, it is recommended that the development of Fall Prevention Programs based on these results.

유기수은의 세포면역독성과 이에 대한 아연의 방어효과 및 기전 (A Study on the Protective Effect and Its Mechanism of Zinc against Immuno-cytotoxicity of Methylmercury)

  • This study was carried out to elucidate the protective effect of zinc chloride(ZnCl$_2$) and its mechanism against the immuno-cytotoxicity of methylmercury chloide($CH_3$HgCl). This study was observed in the culture of EMT-6 cells which are originated from mammary adenocarcinoma of Balb/c mouse. Cytotoxicity of metals was measured by cell viability and NO$_2$$^{[-10]}$ , and mitochondrial function was evaluated by adenosine triphosohate (ATP) production. $CH_3$HgCl significantly decreased the sythesis of nitric oxide(NO), ATP and glutathione(GSH) in a dose-dependent manner. ZnCl$_2$ significantly increased the synthesis of GSH in a dose-dependent manner, but synthesis of NO and ATP were not changed. The immuno-cytotoxicity of $CH_3$HgCl was not fully protected when combined addition of ZnCl$_2$, whereas ZnCl$_2$ prior to addition of $CH_3$HgCl completly protected the Hg-induced immuno-cytotoxicity. Similarly, intracellular accumulation of mercury significantly decreased by ZnCl$_2$. Degree of diminution of intracellular mercury was larger in ZnCl$_2$ prior to addition of $CH_3$HgCl than in combined addition of ZnCl$_2$ and $CH_3$HgCl.. Dithiothreitol(DTT) or buthionine sulfoximine(BSO) addition at 50$\mu$M or less, which was not toxic to the cells, did not affect synthesis of NO and ATP. DTT increased intracellular GSH level and DTT pretreatment protected toxicity induced by $CH_3$HgCl as shown complete recover in the NO and ATP values. BSO decreased intracellular GSH level and BSO pretreatment exaggerated toxicity induced by $CH_3$HgCl as shown synergistic reduction in the NO and ATP values. These results indicated that the protective effects of zinc against immuno-cytotoxicity of methylmercury associated with increasing cellular level of GSH. Increased intracellular GSH transports methylmercury to out of cells. In accordance with intracellular level of mercury decreased, immuno-cytotoxicity of methylmercury decreased. These result also suggest that the protective mechanism of zinc against the mercury toxicity would be exerted in the immune system in vivo.

철전기분해장치(FNR)에서 단위공정에 따른 질소와 인의 제거 (A Study on Phosphorus and Nitrogen Removal with Unit Operation in the Ferrous Nutrient Removal Process)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this experiment was to illuminate the relationship between the phosphorus removal rate of unit operation and the phosphorus removal rate of phosphorus volume loading in the Ferrous Nutrient Removal process, which consists of an anoxic basin, oxic basin, and iron precipitation apparatus. Methods: This study was conducted in order to improve the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus removal in domestic wastewater using the FNR (Ferrous Nutrient Removal) process which features an iron precipitation reactor in anoxic and oxic basins. The average concentration of TN and TP was analyzed in a pilot plant ($50m^3/day$). Results: The removal rate of T-N and T-P were 66.5% and 92.8%, respectively. The $NH_3-N$ concentration of effluent was 2.62 mg/l with nitrification in the oxic basin even though the influent was 17.7 mg/l. The $NO_3$-N concentration of effluent was 5.83 mg/l through nitrification in oxic basin even though the influent and anoxic basin were 0.82 mg/l and 1.00 mg/l, respectively. The specific nitrification of the oxic basin ($mg.NH_3$-Nremoved/gMLVSSd) was 16.5 and specific de-nitrification ($mg.NO_3$-Nremoved/gMLVSSd) was 90.8. The T-P removal rate was higher in the oxic basin as T-P of influent was consumed at a rate of 56.3% in the anoxic basin but at 90.3% in the oxic basin. The TP removal rate (mg.TP/g.MLSS.d) ranged from 2.01 to 4.67 (3.06) as the volume loading of T-P was increased, Conclusions: The test results showed that the electrolysis of iron is an effective method of phosphorus removal. Regardless of the temperature and organic matter content of the influent, the quality of phosphorus in the treated water was both relatively stable and high due to the high removal efficiency. Nitrogen removal efficiency was 66.5% because organic matter from the influent serves as a carbon source in the anoxic basin.
