  • In this paper, the closed form expression for the average bit error probability(BER) is derived for diversity reception using an L-branch maximal ratio combining(MRC) system which has same fading index and different fading index. Also, the BER to have same average power and Nakagami m-distribution for a generalized selection combining(SC) is derived, whereby the signal with the largest amplitude is selected from the original diversity branches in the channel, the order statistics is applied. Especially, when L is 1 in a selective diversity, the derived expression leads to that of DPSK in which SC is not applied in Nakagami fading. Changing the diversity branch L and fading index m, we compare the performance of MRC and SC.

  • Six young trees of Alnus tinctoria grown in isolation, each having different growing stage, were selected and the surface area of their roots, stems and leaves was determined. Each of the roots of more than 0.2mm in diameter and stems was cut at intervals of 10cm and their surface area was calculated with 2$\pi$rl from the average diameter (2r) of both sections (upper and lower) by making cylindrical estimation of the cut pieces. The leaf area measured was only one side area, and the volume of cut piece and amount of dry matter of each organ were also measured. The percentage to the surface area of the whole plant body by each organ was 4-12% in root, 7-9% in stem and 69-89% in leaf, respectively. There was relatively a little individual difference. However, the surface area ratios of root and stem showed a slightly increasing tendency while that of leaf decreasing according to the growing stage. The ratio of sum leaf area index (LAIi) was 2.3-4.0$m^2$/$m^2$-and that of the surface area index(SaIi) was 0.16-0.33$m^2$/$m^2$, respectively. It has been known that the stem surface area(SAI) to the leaf area index(LAI) is within the range of 31-53%, but the SAIi is within the range of 8-11% of the LAIi.

  • For a positive integer m and a digraph D, the m-step competition graph $C^m$ (D) of D has he same set of vertices as D and an edge between vertices u and v if and only if there is a vertex x in D such that there are directed walks of length m from u to x and from v to x. Cho and Kim [6] introduced notions of competition index and competition period of D for a strongly connected digraph D. In this paper, we extend these notions to a general digraph D. In addition, we study competition indices of tournaments.

  • In the present article, we describe specific elements in a motivic cohomology group $H^1_{\mathcal{M}}(Spec\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_l),\;\mathbb{Z}(2))$ of cyclotomic fields, which generate a subgroup of finite index for an odd prime $l$. As $H^1_{\mathcal{M}}(Spec\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_l),\;\mathbb{Z}(1))$ is identified with the group of units in the ring of integers in $\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_l)$ and cyclotomic units generate a subgroup of finite index, these elements play similar roles in the motivic cohomology group.

  • This study deals with the assessment of low and mid rise multi-story buildings made of stone and /or brick, composite steel and masonry slabs from the sixties, known to be vulnerable to seismic hazard using the "vulnerability index" method based on buildings survey following Ain Temouchent (1999) and Boumerdes (2003) earthquakes, from where vulnerability curves are constructed using the translation method. The results obtained for the case study confirm what has been observed in situ.

  • The Delphi method is widely used for long and middle range forecasting in management science. It is a method by which the subjective data of experts are made to converge using statistical analysis. The Fuzzy Delphi Method(F.D.M.), anew application of the Delphi method using Triangular Fuzzy Numbers(T.F.N.), can help to predict the uncertainty, synthesize the opinion and calculation of those assumed dissemblance index and fuzzy distance. Furthermore, the programming of the F.D.M. process to feed paper and data back to experts can make them more accurately predict the various information.

  • To analyze th frequency modulation system the characteristic equation of the F-M system, i.e., Mathieu's equation, is derived from the equivalent circuits of direct modulation system. The analysis of F-M equation is undertaken by the Yonsei 101 Analog Computer. And the computer solution is compared with the theoretical solution. It is concluded that not only the frequency but also the amplitude of the carrier wave are changed by varying the modulation index and the system becomes unstable if the modulation index is increased near to unity.

  • This study is tried to determine whether the management of medical radiation is well handled by comparison the guidelines of KFDA(korea food & drug administration) with analysis of dose indicator in mammography. As a method, it is analysed that kVp, exposure time, mAs, compressed breast thickness, average glandular dose and body mass index that were classified in the examination of both breasts by CC(cranio-caudal) and MLO(medio-lateral oblique) with EMR(electronic medical record) and dose report that were sent to the PACS(picture archiving communication system). As a result, in the site inspection according to the age, Compressed breast thickness in CC and MLO were the thickest of 45.6 mm and 49.6 mm in the 50-59 year old respectively. In the overall average compressed breast thickness, CC were 44.2 mm and MLO were 48.9 mm. MLO has more thick by 4.7 mm. In average glandular dose, CC were 1.05 mGy and MLO were 1.14 mGy. MLO has higher by 0.09 mGy than CC. As the compressed breast thickness increases 10mm, CC and MLO increases 0.15 mGy and 0.17 mGy respectively. When it was compared with the average glandular dose of 1.16 mGy per 1 film presented by KFDA, CC was showed 1.05 mGy. However, the 60 mm or more was found to exceed a 1.30 mGy. Also, As the compressed breast thickness was higher, body mass index showed high score. And in the case of 25 or more in the obese body index according to body mass index, it was showed obesity in case of the compressed breast thickness was more than 50mm.

  • Flow characteristics analysis and tracer test simulations for the rectangular typed sedimentation basins, which have been operated at D_water treatment plant in Korea, were carried out using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) techniques for design ($15,864m^3/day$) and operation flowrate ($33,333m^3/day$). Also, each efficiency of the sedimentation basin was evaluated by application of the Lagrangin technique on the assumption of the particles flowing into the inlet of the sedimentation basin. From the results of simulation, the mean velocity values for making the flow in the settling basin as a plug flow region were derived as 0.00193 m/s and 0.00417 m/s, respectively. In addition, ${\beta}$ (effective contact factor) values were calculated to be 0.51 and 0.46, and the Morrill Index values were 6.05 and 3.21, respectively for both flowrate conditions.
