From the VI images of M13, obtained by using 2K CCD camera and the BOAO 1.8m telescope, we derive the(V - I) - V CMD of M13. From the shapes of red giant branch, the magnitude of horizontal branch, and the giant branch bump on the constructed CMD, we determined the metallicity of the globular cluster to be 1.74${\lesssim}$[Fe/H]${\lesssim}$-1.41. The good agreement between our determination of [Fe/H] and those determined by using other methods implies that the morphology of red giant and horizontal branches on (V - I) - V CMD's can be good indirect metallicity indicators of Galactic globular clusters.

This study was carried out to investigate exercise load of visitors and physical condition of stairway in the trail of Keumsan located in Hallyo-Haesang National Park. Total trail length of Keumsan is 2,126m, and the number of step-trail section are 15, and the total length of step-trail section is 1,000.4m. Average gradient of step-trail was 20~40%. But the gradient and length were 45.7% and 268.5m in the section 11, and 58.4% and 188.6m in the section 12. The greatest gradient was 67.8% in the section 13. During the climbing in trail, heart rate were 104~184beats/min.. And in the step-trail section 11, 12, and 13, IHR, ELI, and %HRmax were 166.5%, 89.1%, 92.9%, and 167.4%, 89.6%, 93.2%, and 157.8%, 84.5%, 89.9%, respectively.

Altitudinal effects on the accumulation of O layer were examined for deciduous broad-leaved forests in the experimental forest of Kangwon National University. There found a marked increased towards the higher altitudes in the thickness of O layer. These trends could be observed conspicuously on the F2 and H layers. The relation between thickness (X, cm) and dry weight (Y, $kg/m^2$) of O layer was approximated by linear regression equations;Y($kg/m^2$ = aX(cm). The values of coefficient "a" for the F2, H and F2+H layers were 0.43, 0.61 and 0.53, respectively. Bulk densities of the accumulated organic matter estimated nearly to be $45g/dm^2$ in F2 layer, $60g/dm^2$ in H layer and $55g/dm^2$ in F2+H layer. The amount of O layer ranged from 13ton/ha for the forest at 280m in altitude to 41ton/ha for the upper forest at 710m in altitude. Among these total amount of the O layer, F1, F2 and H layer occupied to be 5~10ton/ha, 5~11ton/ha and 13~40ton/ha, respectively.

In this paper, an internal GPS antenna for mobile phones is designed and fabricated. For the miniaturization of the antenna, high permittivity dielectric substrate((${\varepsilon}_r$=90) and small ground plane ($13mm{\times}13mm$) are used. To increase the receive gain, the antenna is composed with LNA(Low Noise Amplifier). Results of the manufactured antenna($13mm{\times}13mm{\times}8mm$) show that the maximum antenna gain is about 12 dBi, the axial ratio is less than 3 dB, and the current consumption of LNA is less than 4 mA.

Let G be a semialgebraic group not necessarily compact. Let M be a proper semialgebraic G-set whose orbit space has a semialgebraic structure. In this paper, we prove the embeddability of M into a G-representation space when G is linear.

Ranging and 2-way Doppler measurements are very essential source for orbit determination in LEOP (Launch and Early Operation). This paper shows ranging system features of 13M TT &C antenna and test results recently acquired with KOMPSAT-l. Ranging and 2-way Doppler measurements were compared with KOMPSAT-I GPS telemetry data. Through comparison, it was found that constant and accurate ranging measurements are available with 13M antenna system. Ranging and Doppler measurement function is expected to be used for KOMPSAT-1 and KOMPSAT-2.

Effects of polyamines such as cadaverine, putrescine, spermidine and spermine on the self-splicig inhibition of the T4 phage thymidylate synthase(td) intron by spectinomycin have been investrigated. Without polyamine 7mM spectinomycin caused 40% reduction of the splicing rate. Cadaverine reduced the splicing rate over the concentrations of 0.1 to 5 mM. Putrescine at 0.5 mM increased the splicing rate by 13%. Spermidine at 0.5 mM enhanced the splicing rate by 11% while spermine at 0.01 mM enhanced the splicing rate by 16%. Of the all polyamines tested, spermine exhibited the maximum activation effect to counteract the splicing inhibition by spectinomycin. This effect appears to be due to the role of polyamine in stabilizing the conformation of td intron ribozyme essential for the catalytic function.
