  • It is shown, that both cosmic radiation (external source) and natural radioactive gases (inner source) are sources of neutrons near the Earth crust. Correlation between the Earth crust dynamics and variations of thermal and slow neutron flux near the Earth surface is studied. It is shown, that variations of neutron flux near the Earth crust can be used for short-term predicting of natural hazards.

  • The fermentative conversion of food wastes into probiotic feed was investigated by seeding of mixed inoculum of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. After grinding finely, optimal fermentation conditions for aeration was investigated at $30^{\circ}C$, The viable cell count of lactic acid bacteria and yeast during fermentation were monitored by controlling aeration rate at each different aeration degree of 0v.v.m 0rpm, 0.25v.v.m 100rpm, 0.5v.v.m 200rpm, and 1v.v.m 500rpm respectively. The most active growth of the yeast was shown at 0.5v.v.m 200rpm as $4.5{\times}10^9CFU/m{\ell}$. By controlling aeration rate, the pH of the probiotics feed could be controlled between 4-5 for the enhancement of preservation characteristics and acceptability for cattle feeding.

  • The effect of replacement of in vitro maturation medium completely with the buffalo follicular fluid (buFF) on in vitro oocyte maturation of buffalo oocytes was studied. 5 to 8 buffalo cumulus oocyte complexes were cultured in a single drop with each of the eight media studied i.e., M199+steer serum (10% v/v), M199+steer serum (10% v/v)+PMSG, M199+buFF (10% v/v), M199+buFF (10% v/v)+PMSG, M199+buFF (50% v/v), M199+buFF (50% v/v)+ PMSG, buFF (100%) and buFF+PMSG at $39^{\circ}C$ and 5% $CO_2$ in air for 24 h. Supplementation of M199 with Steer serum alone resulted in IVM rate of 35% only. When the above medium was supplemented with PMSG, the maturation rate rallied to 82%. Significant increase in the maturation rates were observed when M199 was supplemented with increasing levels of buFF. A further increase in the maturation rate was also obtained when PMSG was incorporated into the medium of M199 supplemented with buFF. The rate of maturation was to the tune of 91% when oocytes were matured in buFF alone which was increased non significantly on the addition of PMSG. Highest maturation rate (97%) obtained with M199+buFF (50%v/v)+PMSG did not differ significantly from that obtained by either M199+buFF (10%v/v)+PMSG or buFF+PMSG. It is suggested that buFF alone without any supplementation can form the effective in vitro maturation medium for buffalo oocytes.

  • We use ALLWISE data release W1- and W2-band epoch photometry collected by the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) to determine slopes of the period-luminosity relations for RR Lyrae stars in 15 globular clusters in the corresponding bands. We further combine these results with V- and K-band photometry of Galactic field RR Lyrae stars to determine the metallicity slopes of the log $P_F-[Fe/H]-M_K$, log $P_F-[Fe/H]-M_{W1}$, and log $P_F-[Fe/H]-M_{W2}$ period-metallicity-luminosity relations. We infer the zero points of these relations and determine the kinematical parameters of thick-disk and halo RR Lyraes via statistical parallax, and estimate the RR Lyrae-based distances to 18 Local-Group galaxies including the center of the Milky Way.

  • In this paper, we have examined electrical characteristics of LDO regulator according to the process variation using a 1 ${\mu}m$ 20 V high voltage CMOS process. The electrical analysis of LDO regulator have been performed with three kind of SPICE parameter sets (Typ : typical, FF : fast, SS : slow) by process variation which cause change of SPICE parameter such as threshold voltage and effective channel length of MOS devices. From simulation results, we confirmed that in case of SS type SPICE parameter set, the LDO regulator has 3.6 mV/V line regulation, 0.4 mV/mA load regulation and 0.86 ${\mu}s$ output voltage settling time. And in case of Typ type SPICE parameter set, the LDO regulatorhas 4.2 mV/V line regulation, 0.44 mV/mA load regulation and 0.62 ${\mu}s$ output voltage settling time. Finally, in the FF type SPICE parameter set, the LDO regulator has 7.0 mV/V line regulation, 0.56 mV/mA load regulation and 0.27 ${\mu}s$ output voltage settling time.

  • This study investigated the existing theoretical backgrounds in order to examine the stability control method of lateral flow caused by the Plasticity of soils when unsymmetrical surcharge works on polluted soils and then compared and analyzed the results measured through model tests. Ultimate bearing power of ML and $ML_{p1}$ and $ML_{p2}$ obtained at surcharge(q)-settlement$(S_v)$ curve showed similar trends to ultimate bearing power obtained from control chart of deflection $(S_v-Y_m)$ by Tominaga.Hashimoto, that of $S_v-(Y_m/S_v)$ by Matsuo.Kawamura and that of $(q/Y_m)-q$ by Shibata.Sekiguchi and so it is considered that it has no problem in actual applicability. ${S_v-(Y_m/S_v)}$ of control chart of $ML_{p1}$ by Matsuo.Kawamura showed smaller value than ultimate bearing capacity value from surcharge-settlement curve $(q-S_v)$. Expression of ML of fracture baseline at stability control charge by Matsuo Kawamura is ${S_v=3.21exp}\{-0.48(Y_m/S_v)\}$ and expression of $ML_{p1}$ is ${S_v=3.26exp}\{-0.96(Y_m/S_v)\}$ and expression of $ML_{p2}$ is ${S_v=6.33exp}\{-0.45(Y_m/S_v)\}$.

  • Ground motion models predicting intensity measures on surface use a time-averaged shear wave velocity, VS30, as a key variable simulating site effect. The VS30 can be directly estimated from VS profiles if the profile depth (z) is greater than or equal to 30 m. However, some sites have VS profiles with z < 30 m. In this case VS30 can be predicted using extension models. This study proposes new coefficient sets for existing prediction equations using 297 Korea VS profiles. We have collected VS profiles from KMA and Geoinfo database. Fitting six existing methods to data, we suggest new coefficients for each method and evaluate their performance. It turns out that if z ≥ 15 m, the standard deviation (σ) of residual in log10 is 0.061, which indicates that the estimated VS30 is nearly accurate. If z < 15 m, the σ keeps increasing up to 0.1 for z = 5 m, so we caution the use of models at very low z. Nonetheless, we recommend investigating up to 30 m depth for VS30 calculation if possible.

  • ESCO industry should guarantee the energy saving performance in response to changes of regulations ESCO. In this point, the application of the M&V is important task on energy saving performance. Therefore, we need to examine the contents of practice for the M&V in developed countries. Between energy user and ESCO, it is important to provide and measure the energy saving performance by guarantee of energy savings performance contracts. After 2013 ESCO business began focusing on guaranteed savings contracts. For this reason, we need to take M&V cases recommended from IPMVP and applied in United States and Japan. Therefore, we should be ready about M&V application for the real conditions of ESCO.

  • This paper proposes a start-up voltage generator for reducing the minimum input supply voltage of DC-DC boost converters to 250mV. The proposed start-up voltage generator boosts 250mV input voltage to over 500mV to charge the capacitor for starting the boost converter. After the boost converter operates initially with the supply voltage charged in the capacitor, it uses its boosted output voltage for the supply voltage. Therefore, after the start-up operation, the proposed DC-DC boost converter works as the same as the conventional one. The proposed start-up voltage generator reduces the threshold voltage of the transistors by adjusting the body voltage at a low input voltage. This causes the higher clock frequency and the larger current to a Dickson charge-pump for boosting the input voltage. The proposed start-up voltage generator was implemented with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Its clock frequency and output voltage were 34.5kHz and 522mV at 250mV input voltage, respectively.
