MEMS 기술을 이용한 Q-band MIMIC 발진기의 설계 및 제작 (Design and fabrication of Q-band MIMIC oscillator using the MEMS technology)

  • We suggest Q-band MEMS MIMIC (Millimeter wave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) HEMT Oscillator using DAML (Dielectric-supported Airgapped Mcrostrip Line) structure. We elevated the signal lines from the substrate using dielectric post, in order to reduce the substrate dielectric loss and obtain low losses at millimeter-wave frequency. These DAML are composed with heist of $10\;{\mu}m$ and post size with $20\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;20\;{\mu}m$. The MEMS oscillator was successfully integrated by the process of $0.1\;{\mu}m$ GaAs PHEMTs, CPW transmission line and DAML. The phase noise characteristic of the MEMS oscillator was improved more than 7.5 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset frequency than that of the CPW oscillator And the high output power of 7.5 dBm was measured at 34.4 GHz.

Sasa quelpaertensis Leaf Extracts Induce Apoptosis in Human Leukemia HL-60 Cells

  • In east Asia, the leaves of various Sasa species have been used in folk medicine for centuries. The effects of the methanolic extract and its subsequent fractions derived from the leaves of Sasa quelpaertensis Nakai on cell proliferation in human leukemia HL-60 cells were evaluated. The ethyl acetate fraction of this extract (ESQL) significantly reduced cell viability in a dose-dependent manner ($0-250\;{\mu}g/mL$). ESQL ($IC_{50}=24.8\;{\mu}g/mL$) exhibited growth inhibition comparable to the main constituent of green tea, epigallocatechin ($IC_{50}=26.2\;{\mu}g/mL$), which was used as a positive control. ESQL treatment induced apoptosis, which was confirmed by the presence of nuclear condensation and annexin V-staining. These results demonstrate that ESQL contains chemopreventive phytochemicals that may be useful in neutraceutical applications.

높은 $f_{max}$ 를 갖는 InGaAs/InAlAs MHEMT 의 Pad 설계 (Modification of CPW Pad Design for High fmax InGaAs/InAlAs Metamorphic High Electron Mobility Transistors)

  • In this paper, we have performed a study that modifies the CPW Pad configurations to improve an $f_{max}$ characteristic of metamorphic HEMT. To analyze the CPW Pad structures of MHEMT, we use the ADS momentum simulator developed by $Agilent^{TM}$. Comparing the employed structure (G/W = 40/100 m), the optimized structure (G/W = 20/25 m) of CPW MHEMT shows the increased $S_{21}$ by 2.5 dB, which is one of the dominant parameters influencing the $f_{max}$ of MHEMT. To compare the performances of optimized MHEMT with the employed MHEMT, DC and RF characteristics of the fabricated MHEMT were measured. In the case of optimized CPW MHEMT, the measured saturated drain current density and transconductance $(g_m)$ were 693 mA/mm and 647 mS/mm, respectively. RF measurements were performed in a frequency range of $0.1{\sim}110$ GHz. A high $S_{21}$ gain of 5.5 dB is shown at a millimeter-wave frequency of 110 GHz. Two kinds of RF gains, $h_{21}$ and maximum available gain (MAG), versus the frequency, and a cut-off frequency ($f_t$) of ${\sim}154$ GHz and a maximum frequency of oscillation ($f_{max}$) of ${\sim}358$ GHz are obtained, respectively, from the extrapolation of the RF gains for a device biased at a peak transconductance. An optimized CPW MHEMT structure is one of the first reports among fabricated 0.1 m gate length MHEMTs.

  • Cloud computing, which means a new way of deploying information technology(IT) in organizations as a service and charging per use, has a deep impact on organizations' IT accessibility, agility and efficiency of its usage. More than that, the emergence of cloud computing surpasses a mere technological innovation, making business model innovation possible. We call this innovation realized by could computing a cloud business model. This study develops a comprehensive framework of business model, first, and then defines and analyzes the cloud business model through this framework. This study also examines the case of M-Pesa mobile payment as a cloud business model in which a new value creation and profit realization schemes have been realized and industry value network has changed. Finally, this study discusses the business implications from this new business model.

MHEMT를 이용한 DC ∼ 45 GHz CPW 광대역 분산 증폭기 설계 및 제작 (DC ∼ 45 GHz CPW Wideband Distributed Amplifier Using MHEMT)

  • 본 논문에서는 0.1 $\mum$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs Metamorphic HEMT (High Electron Mobility Transistor)를 이용하여 DC~45 GHz 대역의 광대역 MIMIC(Millimeter-wave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) 분산 증폭기를 설계 및 제작하였다. MIMIC 증폭기의 제작을 위해 Metamorphic HEMT(MHEMT)를 설계 및 제작하였으며, 제작된 MHEMT는 드레인 전류 밀도 442 mA/mm, 최대 전달컨덕턴스(Gm)는 409 mS/mm를 얻었다. RF 특성으로 fT는 140 GHz fmax는 447 GHz의 양호한 성능을 나타내었다. 광대역 MIMIC 분산 증폭기의 설계를 위해 MHEMT의 소신호 모델과 CPW 라이브러리를 구축하였으며, 이를 이용하여 MIMIC 분산 증폭기를 설계하였다. 설계된 분산 증폭기는 본 연구에서 개발된 MHEMT MIMIC 공정을 이용하여 제작하였으며, MIMIC 분산 증폭기의 측정결과, DC ~ 45 GHz대역에서 6 dB 이상의 S21 이득을 얻었으며, 입력반사 계수는 45 GHz에서 -10 dB, 출력반사계수는 -7 dB의 특성을 나타내었다. 제작된 분산 증폭기의 칩 크기는 2.0 mm$\times$l.2 mm다.

높은 LO-RF 격리 특성의 94 GHz MMIC Single-balanced Mixer (High LO-RF Isolation 94 GHz MMIC Single-balanced Mixer)

  • In this paper, high LO-RF isolation 94 GHz MMIC single-balanced mixer was designed and fabricated using a branch line coupler and a ${\lambda}/4$ transmission line. The 94 GHz MMIC single-balanced mixer was designed using the 0.1 ${\mu}m$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs Metamorphic HEMT(MHEMT) diode. The fabricated MHEMT was obtained the cut-off frequency($f_T$) of 189 GHz and the maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$) of 334 GHz. The designed MMIC single-balanced mixer was fabricated using 0.1 ${\mu}m$ MHEMT MMIC process. From the measurement, the conversion loss of the single-balanced mixer was 23.1 dB at an LO power of 10 dBm. The LO-RF isolations of single-balanced mixer was obtained 45.5 dB at 94.19 GHz. We obtained in this study a higher LO-RF isolation compared to some other balanced mixers in millimeter-wave frequencies.

  • This paper presents a knowledge-based view of the multi-business firm. The multi-business firm has advantages in technological innovation and knowledge creation to the extent that it embodies various ideas and resources, and recombines them more effectively and efficiently than market contracts. The purpose of this paper is to identify how to organize the multidivisional form (M-form) structure to realize such advantages. We first differentiate within-division innovation and cross-division innovation, and explain why cross-division innovation, despite its higher performance potential, would be more difficult to achieve, compared to within-division innovation. Then, we offer the propositions about how to promote cross-division innovation with references to resource capability and coordination capability that is, in turn, composed of structural and control system, social capital, and human resource management system. We conclude by discussing theoretical and practical implications.

Enhancing Raw Bovine Milk Quality using Ultraviolet-C (UV-C) Irradiation: A Microbial and Lipid Peroxidation Study

  • This study investigated the efficacy of ultraviolet-C (UV-C) irradiation in enhancing the quality of raw bovine milk by targeting microbial populations and lipid peroxidation, both of which are key factors in milk spoilage. We categorized the raw milk samples into three groups based on initial bacterial load: low (<3 Log 10 CFU/mL), medium (3-4 Log 10 CFU/mL), and high (>4 Log 10 CFU/mL). Using a 144 W thin-film UV-C reactor, we treated the milk with a flow rate of 3 L/min. We measured the bacterial count including standard plate count, coliform count, coagulase-negative staphylococci count, and lactic acid bacteria count and lipid peroxidation (via thiobarbituric acid reactive substances assay) pre- and post-treatment. Our results show that UV-C treatment significantly reduced bacterial counts, with the most notable reductions observed in high and medium initial load samples (>4 and 3-4 Log 10 CFU/mL, respectively). The treatment was particularly effective against coliforms, showing higher reduction efficiency compared to coagulase-negative staphylococci and lactic acid bacteria. Notably, lipid peroxidation in UV-C treated milk was significantly lower than in pasteurized or untreated milk, even after 72 hours. These findings demonstrate the potential of UV-C irradiation as a pre-treatment method for raw milk, offering substantial reduction in microbial content and prevention of lipid peroxidation, thereby enhancing milk quality.
