  • In this paper, the path tracking controller for a surface vessel based on the sliding mode control (SMC) with the switching law is proposed. In order to have no restriction on movement and improved tracking performance, the proposed control system is developed as follows: First, the kinematic and dynamic models in Cartesian coordinates are considered to solve the singularity problem at the origin. Second, the new multiple sliding surfaces are designed with the SMC and approach angle concept to solve the under-actuated property. Third, the switching control system is designed to improve tracking performance. To prove the stability of the proposed switching system under the arbitrary switching, the Lyapunov stability analysis method with the common Lyapunov function is used. Finally, the computer simulations are performed to demonstrate the performance, effectiveness and stability of the proposed tracking controller of a surface vessel.

  • In this paper we have considered a nonautonomous predator-prey model with discrete time delay due to gestation, in which there are two prey habitats linked by isotropic migration. One prey habitat contains a predator and the other (a refuge) does not. Here, we have established some sufficient conditions on the permanence of the system by using in-equality analytical technique. By Lyapunov functional method, we have also obtained some sufficient conditions for global asymptotic stability of this model. We have observed that the per capita migration rate among two prey habitats and the time delay has no effect on the permanence of the system but it has an effect on the global asymptotic stability of this model. The aim of the analysis of this model is to identify the parameters of interest for further study, with a view to informing and assisting policy-maker in targeting prevention and treatment resources for maximum effectiveness.

  • The Lyapunov stability theory has been known inadequate to prove capturability of guidance laws because the equations of motion resulted from the guidance laws do not have the equilibrium point. By introducing a proper transformation of the range state, the original equations of motion for a stationary target can be converted into nonlinear equations with a specified equilibrium subspace. Physically, the equilibrium subspace denotes the direction of missile velocity to the target. By using a single Lyapunov function candidate, capturability of several PN laws for a stationary target is then proved for examples. In this approach, there is no assumption of the constant speed missile. The proposed method is expected to provide a unified and simplified scheme to prove the capturability of various kinds of guidance laws.

  • This paper proposes a stability condition in discrete-time affine Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with parametric uncertainties and then, introduces the design method of a fuzzy-model-based controller which guarantees the stability. The analysis is based on Lyapunov functions that are continuous and piecewise quadratic. The search for a piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function can be represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs).

  • In this article, we propose a criterion for ensuring the asymptotic stability of large multiple delays, based on the direct Lyapunov method. Based on this criterion and distributed control scheme, the controllers are synthesized by the PDC to stabilize these large-scale systems with multiple delays. And we focus on the results which shows the high effective by the proposed theory utilized for damage propagation for aircraft structural analysis of composite materials. Finally, the numerical simulations confirmed the effectiveness of the method.

  • In this paper, the problem of the stability analysis for linear neutral delay-differential systems with nonlinear perturbations is investigated. Using Lyapunov second method, a new delay-dependent sufficient condition for asymptotic stability of the systems in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms, is presented. A numerical example is given to illustrate the proposed method.

  • In this paper, the problem of stability analysis for neural networks with discrete and distributed time-varying delays is considered. By constructing a new Lyapunov functional, a new delay-dependent stability criterion for the network is established in terms of LMIs (linear matrix inequalities) which can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms. Two numerical example are included to show the effectiveness of proposed criterion.
