This study was carried out to evaluate the structural property of double shear bolted connections in Korean Larch. For the main member, sawn lumber and Glulam were used in which thickness of lumber is 39 mm, 89 mm, 139 mm, 189 mm and Glulam 80 mm, 140 mm, 170 mm. For the side member, sawn lumber and steel plate were used in which thickness of lumber is the same of the main member and steel plate is 6mm. And connections were jointed by M12, M16, M20 bolts which were usually used for wood constructions in Korea. Directions of loading to connections were perpendicular and parallel to grain of main and side member. First, through the dowel bearing test, the dowel bearing strength was evaluated and through the bolt bending tests, the bolt bending strength was evaluated. And then experiments for the connection were performed. Obtained results from experiments were compared with calculated values by EYM and analyzed. Strength of double shear bolted connections in Korean Larch was similar or higher than calculated value by EYM. Especially when the side member was made by the sawn lumber, it was similar to the calculated value. In failure mode, the mode was effected by the knot and the dry defect. In the thin main member, it was shown mode I and as the thickness of the main member was thicker, it was changed into mode III.

To reduce the noise from wood cutting saw at the saw mill(lumber mill) or a construction area, some multi-layer sandwich saw blades which a aluminum or copper plate was inserted between the two steel plates were developed and were tested of the wood cutting noise level at various test places. From the research, it was found that the multi-layer saw blade with copper or aluminum plate between steel plates and spot welded 60 points could reduce the wood cutting sound level about 8.3 dB(97.031 dB - 88.743 dB) at indoor test and 3.8 dB(84.805 - 81.638 dB) at field test.
This study was conducted to evaluate the tensile properties of metal plate connector for the domestic major softwoods, such as Korean red pine, Korean white pine, and Japanese larch. The maximum tensile load of Korean red pine was 3,612kgf in AA type, it was 1.2 and 1.7 times higher load than that of Japanese larch and Korean white pine. In EA type, it was 2,704kgf, and 1.1 and 1.5 times higher than the loads of Japanese larch and Korean white pine. The failure modes of metal plate connector were metal plate withdrawal, plate tensile failure, and wood shear block failure. The failure mode of Korean red pine connector was tensile failure of plate, that is reason of the high tensile load resistance for metal plate connections in Korean red pine. The mechanical properties of metal plate connector could be predicted by the Foschi model parameter. In the initial stage, the Korean red pine connector was stiffer than the other species. The design values for metal plate connector per tooth was 25, 22, and 15kgf for Korean red pine, Japanese larch, and Korean white pine in AA type and 19, 17, and 13kgf in EA type.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the performance of metal-plate-connected truss joints subjected to cyclic loading conditions that simulated seismic events in the lives of the joints. We also investigated the duration of load factor for these joints. We tested tension splice joints and heel joints from a standard 9.2-m Fink truss constructed from $38-{\times}89-mm$ Douglas-fir lumber: 10 tension splice joints for static condition and for each of 6 cyclic loading conditions (70 joints total) and 10 heel joints for static condition and for each of 3 cyclic loading conditions (40 joints total). We evaluated results by comparing the strengths of the control group (static) with those of the cyclic loading groups. None of the cyclic loading conditions showed any strength degradation; however, there was significant stiffness degradation for both types of joint. The results of this research show that the current duration of load factor of 1.6 for earthquake loading is adequate for these joints.
This study is conducted to establish the structural standard of tube and coupler scaffold which is suitable for our present stuation through the comparison analysis for domestic and foreign standards as well as measurement of field survey. The results of this study are as follows : 1) The load is classified by three categories, light-duty(equal and lower than 150kg/m$^2$), medium-duty(150-250 kg/m$^2$), heavy-duty(250-350kg/m$^2$), and the equivalent horizontal length of side posts is each, 1.5-1.8m, 1.2-1.5m, equal and lower than 1.2m, and the equivalent horizontal length between front and rear posts is each 1.2-1.5m, 0.9-1.2m, equal and lower thatn 0.9m, in accordance with the load classification. 2) The height between upper and lower runner is equal and lower than 1.5m, and the brace across the width of scaffold should be installed within 15m in horizontal direction at 45 degree angle. 3) The entire scaffold should be securely tied to the wall of permanent structure with uslng anchor and bolt at intervals not to exceed 6m in case of non-connection and 4.5m in case of connection in both horizontal and vertical direction. 4) The post should be installed on the sound foundation tied to lumber footing with using base plate, and standard platform plank should be produced in the factory and widely used in the construction field.
This study deals with the contemporary rural housing with special reference to the roof types/materials and the outer wall materials in Ulleungdo Mountains. The most frequent roof type of rural housing is the hip-and-gable roof type(42.1%); and the next, the gable roof type(25.8%). For the roof materials, the precoated steel plate(69.1%), the asphalt shingle(11.8%), and the cement(10.7%) are the most frequent but the roofing tile and the artificial slate are not used. And for the outer wall materials, the cement(27.5%), the siding(21.3%), the corrugated galvanized iron(16.8%), and the lumber sheet(6.7%) are the most frequent. It is the hip-and-gable roof housing type with the precoated steel plate(roof materials)(41%), or the hip-and-gable roof housing type with the precoated steel plate(roof materials) and the cement(outer wall material) (18.0%) that is the most frequent type of rural housing in Ulleungdo Mountains. For the roof/wall materials, the ratio of the corrugated galvanized iron is high probably due to the relatively low cost of transport, and the ratio of the roofing tile, the artificial slate, the red brick, and the building stone is very low probably due to the relatively high cost of transport.

This study aims to develop the plastic suspension assembly which is installed on inside of vehicle seat and supports passenger's back to provide the comfortable feeling. This design is the suspension structure to support the back equally and assemble seat back frame and plastic suspension effectively. The parts of suspension are designed by considering the property of body pressure distribution. As analysis values are approached to measured values by comparing the deformations in the cases of existed spring suspension and developed plastic suspension, the optimum design can be established.
This study was carried out to evaluate the mechano-sorptive deflection of shear creep of drift pin jointed solid wood. Specimens were the solid wood of Pinus densiflora. The joint was composed with steel plate and drift pin, 85mm in length and 10mm in diameter. The creep tests were conducted under the constant loads in an variable environment. Five different shearing loads were applied parallel to the grain of specimens. The shearing loads applied were 170, 340, 510, 680 and 850 kgf. The stress levels were 10, 20, and 30, 40 and 50% of the bearing strength obtained from the tension-type lateral strength test. The creep tests for specimens were carried out for 10300 hours. A few general conclusions could be drawn from this study: The mechano-sorptive deflection (${\delta}$ ms) is defined as ${\delta}\;ms={\delta}\;t-({\delta}\;c+{\delta}\;sh)-{\delta}\;o$, where ${\delta}$ t is the total deflection, ${\delta}$ c is the pure creep, ${\delta}$ sh is shrinkage-swelling behavior, and ${\delta}$ o is the initial deflection. Changes of relative humidity may cause more severe creep deflection than those of constant humidity, especially during the drying process. The mechano-sorptive behaviors of specimens, except the effects of shrinkage and swelling, gradually increased with increasing time. The deflection is increased in desorption process and recovered in adsorption process. The deflections of drift pin jointed solid wood under different loads showed almost same tendency in all specimens. Although the creep deflection tendencies of each series are very similar, the specimens subjected to a large shearing load exhibit large creep deflections in the desorption process than do those to the small shearing load specimens.
