마이크로핀관 증발기내 전열 성능에 미치는 냉동기유의 영향 (Effect of refrigeration lubricants on the heat transfer performance in the microfin tube evaporator)

  • The present study experimentally investigated the effect of refrigeration lubricant on the heat transfer performance in the straight sections and U-bend of a microfin tube evaporator by using R-22/mineral oil and R-407C/POE oil. The apparatus consisted of test section with U-bend, preheater, condenser, oil injection and sampling devices, magnetic pump, mass flow meter etc. The experimental parameters were oil concentration of 0 to 5 wt%, inlet quality of 0.1 to 0.5, mass flux of 219 and $400kg/m^2s$ and heat flux of 10 and $20kW/m^2$. The effects of parameters on the heat transfer coefficients were large in the order of inlet quality, mass flux and heat flux as oil concentration got increased. As oil concentration was increased, heat transfer coefficients were continuously decreased for R-22 and increased by 3% up to the concentration of 1% and then decreased for R-407C under the condition of large inlet quality, and small mass flux and heat flux. But, the heat transfer coefficients were increased up to the concentration of 3% and then decreased for both R-22 and R-407C refrigerants under the opposite conditions. The variation of enhancement factors for R-407C was under 50% of that for R-22 and the variation with respect to the positions in the test section was small. The pressure drops were increased for both R-22 and R-407C refrigerants as oil concentration was increased. The pressure drops for R-407C were smaller by the maximum of 18% than those for R-22.

MoS2/Montmorillonite Nanocomposite: Preparation, Tribological Properties, and Inner Synergistic Lubrication

  • A nano-$MoS_2$/montmorillonite K-10 (K10) composite was prepared and characterized. The composite contains two types of 2H-$MoS_2$ nanoparticles. One is the hollow spherical $MoS_2$ with a size range of 75 nm, and the other is the spherical nano cluster of $MoS_2$ with a size range of 30 nm. The two kinds of nano-$MoS_2$ were formed via assembly of numerous $MoS_2$ nano-platelets with a size of ~10 nm. A tribological comparison was then made among nano-$MoS_2$/K10, K10, nano-$MoS_2$ and a mechanical mixture of K10 and nano-$MoS_2$. K10 reduced the wear but slightly increased the friction. Nano-$MoS_2$ remarkably reduced both friction and wear. The mechanical mixture demonstrated better wear resistance than nano-$MoS_2$, indicating a synergistic anti-wear effect of nano-$MoS_2$ and K10. The synergistic effect was reinforced using nano-$MoS_2$/K10 instead of the mechanical mixture. A part of the $MoS_2$ in the contact region always lubricated the friction pair, and the rest formed a tribofilm. K10 segregated the friction pair to alleviate the ablation wear but magnified the abrasive wear. S-$MoS_2$ protects K10 and they together function as both a lubricant and an isolating agent to reduce the ablation and abrasive wear.

  • Generally, Oxidization film are generated by friction and wear in lubricant oil. It is effect that the heat and pressure act on contact area. Because the electrons movement progress the oxidization, if the electrons movement be regulated, the thickness of oxidization film can be regulated and friction characteristics can be improved. But electronic current can deteriorate friction characteristics, so various characteristics must be investigated on transforming of electronic current. Therefor, using the Norton equation, short current were transformed between ball and disk. Also, an experiment was carried out using ball on disk type tester. So, we studied up on effect of current for friction characteristics.

  • As in most metal forming processes, die and lubrication are of vital importance in hydrostatic extrusion. An efficient die design and lubrication system selection reduce the pressure required for a given reduction ratio by lowering friction at the billet-die interface. In contrast to the conventional macroscopic extrusion, fine-wire fabrication requires higher extrusion pressure and effect of friction is much more significant. Forming fine Au, Ag, and Cu wire with hydrostatic extrusion process in cold condition, the effect of extrusion die angle, lubrication and billet's initial diameter was studied.

  • The most general feature of contact zone among the mechanical components is elliptical circle. In particular, continuously variable transmission (CVT) of toroidal type has elliptical shape of contact zone under the elastohydrodynamic lubrication condition, where the power is transmitted by the shearing the efluid. Due to the traction of the shear behaviors of lubricant over the small elliptical contact zone, high power of torque is transmitted. During the power transmission, many kinds of mechanical movements occur such as squeezing, sliding, rolling and spinning. The spinning effect that is not common contact behavior in tribological components frequently makes significant abnormal wear damage. In this work, the analysis of elliptical contact of elastohydrodynamic lubrication with spin effect is performed, which will give very useful information to understand the traction behaviors in toroidal type of CVT system.

  • The effect of characteristic of surface roughness and roughness patterns on friction and sliding wear was studied experimentally under reciprocating boundary lubricant sliding conditions. The test was conducted with specimens which have various arithmetic mean value and roughness pattern under the condition of different normal load. The experimental results show that the friction coefficient is decreased because of oxidation mass and valley effect as the normal loads increasing It was found that the specimens with surface roughness with a transverally oriented pattern have a smaller firction coefficient than the other two roughness patterns under the condition of the roughness values of Ra=0.5 and Ra=0.2 .

  • The noise of the subway has become a social issue and includes very complex reasons. The friction between rail and train wheel is the most important reason of the noise. In this study, we developed MFI(Multi Fluid Injection) System which sprays the mixed fluid(water, anticorrosive and lubricant) on the rail when the train is approaching to reduce the friction. To verify the system's effect, we measured the internal and external noise of the running train. The measured and analyzed results show that MFI system reduce the noise of the running subway.

  • The effect of surface characterization parameters, such as surface roughness, skewness and kurtosis, on sliding friction and wear was studied experimentally. The friction coefficient was examined under the various parameters and sliding speed, normal load and type of lubricant with ball-on-disk type tribo-meter. The surface of the lower skewness in negative or the higher kurtosis between the same arithmetic mean value tends to indicate low friction.

  • Effects of particulate size and frictional characteristics were examined on the melting behavior of PP(polypropylene) in a twin screw extruder. Powder and pellet types of PP were used and each component was blended with PE(polyethylene) wax and clay, respectively. It was observed that small size particulates, 1.e. powder systems exhibit accelerated melting behavior; and it was also found that the abrasive auditive acts as an effective agent for fast melting of PP powder. Retardation of melting due to the reduced friction was observed in both types of PP, contrary to the result found in a batch mixer. The tendency observed in variation of torque and exit temperature was explained in terms of frictional effect and length of compacted region formed during evolution of melting.
