  • Construction equipment is a major energy consumption source in construction projects. If 10% reduction of the diesel fuel usage is achieved in the construction industry, it may reduce 5% of the total energy usage. Energy saving operation is a major issue in equipment-intensive operations (e.g., earthmoving or paving operations). Identifying optimal equipment fleet is important measure to achieve low-energy consumption in those operations. This study presents a system which finds an optimal equipment fleet by computing the low-energy performance of earthmoving operations. It establishes construction operation model and compares numerous combinations using alternative equipment allocation plans. It implements sensitivity analysis that facilitates searching the lowest energy consumption equipment fleet by enumerating all cases.

  • Railway has recently played an important role in preventing global warming caused by green house gases and furthering a low carbon green growth, The various railway research centers have conducted facilitated studies on saving energy. In particular, urban railway has emerged as the best means of public transportation in terms of punctuality, safety and environmentally friendliness. There are various ways to save energy in terms of operation of urban railway system, and they can be generally divided into hardware aspects that pertain to structure of vehicles and development of control system and software aspects that pertain to effective operation of trains based on operation patterns and diagram control. In this paper, we investigated drive assistance system for railway energy efficiency. The railway operation patterns and train diagram management programs were researched.

오피스 건물의 실내 조명 유형 및 계획특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Lighting Plan Characteristics of Office Buildings)

  • For the office work environmental design, the importance of the design management is increased to improve operation efficiency as well as the aesthetic environmental implementation of the function today. Lighting is a required element ineffective operation environment. It has become more important for the aesthetic, economic, and practical reasons, to consider the luminous environment and the lighting of visual tasks separately. When the brightness is insufficient, productivity deteriorates, and the layout of the lighting located by mistake causes the fatigue of eyes. Productivity rises to office in a large number of studies so as satisfaction is low in general in the dark office, and to be bright. Therefore the purpose of this research is to suggest the right direction of lighting design of office building area. 11newly renovated office buildings are selected for this luminous environment research. We could conclusions as following through this research. First, it was planned brighter than the recommended lighting level in the most space. It shows that the accurate lighting design criteria is needed in order to achieve proper lighting environment. Second, the application of the LED lighting fixtures is continuously increased in the recent office lighting environment. It is explained that it is applied for reasons of the electrical energy reduction and the maintenance efficiency with the long life time. Third, the consideration of the lighting plan for the difference of working types is not enough. with various communication configuration through an independent plan, and the effective lighting plan that appropriateness preparation design and energy saving area vailable must be applied. Fourth, the lighting environment of the lobby needs a specialized lighting plan as are presentative space of the building.

  • Owing to the consistent increase in energy efficiency issues, studies for improving regenerative energy utilization have been receiving attention in the Urban DC railway systems, where currently, the utilization of regenerative energy is low due to the lack of a specific plan for using this energy. The regenerative energy in railway systems has a low efficiency problem which results in the increase of the catenary voltage and a possibility to create problems to the electrical devices connected to the system. This paper deals with the power integration of large urban railway subsystems to improve regenerative energy utilization where the railway subsystems are integrated with other railway subsystems to improve the energy efficiency. Through the case studies, to find the realistic effect of integrated operation, the Seoul Metro subsystems, namely Line 5 and Line 7, has been applied. Also, evaluation for the electricity cost saving has been performed by using KEPCO electricity cost table.

  • This paper deals with the power integration of large urban railway systems to improve regenerative energy utilization. Current regenerative energy utilization is low because there is no special plan for using this energy. If the railway system is integrated with other railway systems, the efficiency is expected to be improved. Through the case studies, to find the realistic effect of integrated operation, real system for the Seoul Metro lines, especially line 5 and 7, had been applied.

원자력발전소 증기발생기 Alloy 690 전열관 재료의 규칙화 반응 (Ordering of Alloy 690 Steam Generator Tubings in a Nuclear Power Plant)

  • Considering the case in the United States where most nuclear power plants with an initial design life of 40 years continue to operate until 60 or 80 years after undergoing material soundness evaluation, it is time to plan a more robust long-term operation strategy for nuclear power plants in Korea. There are some reports that SRO/LRO might be formed when Alloy 690 is heat treated for 10,000 hours to 100,000 hours at 360 to 450 ℃. The possibility of LRO formation in Alloy 690 steam generator tubings of Kori nuclear power plant unit 1 (Kori-1) was investigated using existing research papers. The mechanism in which SRO/LRO occurred was also surveyed. Alloy 690 was found to be more likely to cause ordering than Alloy 600 in terms of alloy composition. The ordering could be evaluated through changes in material properties. However, it is difficult to evaluate it from a microstructural point of view. The likelihood of LRO in Alloy 690 of the Kori-1 plant operated at 320 ℃ for 19 years seemed to be low in terms of time and exposure temperature.

Radiological Safety Assessment of Transporting Radioactive Wastes to the Gyeongju Disposal Facility in Korea

  • A radiological safety assessment study was performed for the transportation of low level radioactive wastes which are temporarily stored in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Daejeon, Korea. We considered two kinds of wastes: (1) operation wastes generated from the routine operation of facilities; and (2) decommissioning wastes generated from the decommissioning of a research reactor in KAERI. The important part of the radiological safety assessment is related to the exposure dose assessment for the incidentfree (normal) transportation of wastes, i.e., the radiation exposure of transport personnel, radiation workers for loading and unloading of radioactive waste drums, and the general public. The effective doses were estimated based on the detailed information on the transportation plan and on the radiological characteristics of waste packages. We also estimated radiological risks and the effective doses for the general public resulting from accidents such as an impact and a fire caused by the impact during the transportation. According to the results, the effective doses for transport personnel, radiation workers, and the general public are far below the regulatory limits. Therefore, we can secure safety from the viewpoint of radiological safety for all situations during the transportation of radioactive wastes which have been stored temporarily in KAERI.

Solar radiation forecasting using boosting decision tree and recurrent neural networks

  • Recently, as the importance of environmental protection has emerged, interest in new and renewable energy is also increasing worldwide. In particular, the solar energy sector accounts for the highest production rate among new and renewable energy in Korea due to its infinite resources, easy installation and maintenance, and eco-friendly characteristics such as low noise emission levels and less pollutants during power generation. However, although climate prediction is essential since solar power is affected by weather and climate change, solar radiation, which is closely related to solar power, is not currently forecasted by the Korea Meteorological Administration. Solar radiation prediction can be the basis for establishing a reasonable new and renewable energy operation plan, and it is very important because it can be used not only in solar power but also in other fields such as power consumption prediction. Therefore, this study was conducted for the purpose of improving the accuracy of solar radiation. Solar radiation was predicted by a total of three weather variables, temperature, humidity, and cloudiness, and solar radiation outside the atmosphere, and the results were compared using various models. The CatBoost model was best obtained by fitting and comparing the Boosting series (XGB, CatBoost) and RNN series (Simple RNN, LSTM, GRU) models. In addition, the results were further improved through Time series cross-validation.

국가주요에너지시설 보안향상방안 (Security Improvement Plan for Nationwide Key Energy Facilities)

  • 본 연구는 국가 주요에너지 시설에 대한 보안진단결과를 분석하여 국가주요 에너지 시설의 보안향상방안을 제안하고자 한다. 대부분의 대상시설은 보안인력, 보안시스템, 울타리, 초소 등에 대한 외형적 보안요소는 적절하게 구축되어 있으나 이러한 보안요소 운용에 대한 인식수준 및 효율성은 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 보안인력 수요산출의 불균형, 보안시스템 운용에 대한 기본지식 부족, CCTV 운용에 있어 과도한 Pan/Tilt/Zoom 기능 적용으로 인한 사각감시지역 발생, 카메라 위치의 부적절, 모니터 감시효율 저하, 그리고 자체 방호능력과 무관하게 작성된 보안계획서 등 미흡한 점이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해서 보안관리자의 전문성 제고가 우선되어야 하며, 선발 시 전문성 고려가 없기 때문에 보안관리자를 위한 전문 교육과정 신설이 필요하다. 그리고 보안업무 표준화를 통해 방호업무의 일관성을 유지하고 자체적인 보안진단의 기본 도구로 활용함으로써 보안수준을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

에지 컴퓨팅의 실현을 위한 마이크로 데이터센터의 효율적인 운영 및 관리 기법 (Efficient Operation and Management Scheme of Micro Data Centers for Realization of Edge Computing)

  • 5G 이동 통신 서비스가 제공됨에 따라 다양한 서비스를 초저지연으로 사용자에게 제공하려는 노력이 진행되고 있다. 이는 네트워크 코어에서 클라우드 컴퓨팅을 제공하는 대신에 사용자 인근에서 고성능 컴퓨팅 서비스를 제공하는 에지 컴퓨팅에 대한 관심을 불러 일으키고 있다. 본 논문은 에지 컴퓨팅의 실현을 위한 필수 장비인 마이크로 데이터센터의 운영 및 관리 방안을 제시한다. 먼저, 에지 컴퓨팅의 기능 구조와 배치 방안을 제시한다. 다음으로 에지 컴퓨팅을 위한 마이크로 데이터센터의 요구사항과 이에 따른 운영 및 관리 방안을 제시한다. 마지막으로 마이크로 데이터센터의 자원을 효율적으로 관리하기 위해서 수집 및 감시해야 하는 자원 관리 아이템을 제시하고, 에너지 효율을 측정할 수 있는 성능 지표를 제안한다.
