Objectives: Although many cities have adopted Healthy Cities approach in Republic of Korea, few studies have been reported about city health profile. So we report a case of city health profile made of subjective indexes and objective indicators using available recent evidence. Methods: To assess subjective city health indexes, questionnaire survey was implemented to public officers and citizen adapting the 'Signs of progress, signs of caution of 12 stage tool from Ontario Healthy Community Coalition. Based on recent literature objective city health indicators were collected for time-series comparison and for the comparison with those of larger province mainly using Korean Statistical Information Service. Results: Subjective city health indexes were successfully constructed in four areas including human health, environment, social and economic area. The score was especially low in environmental area. Specific items in each area for improvement were identified. Objective city health indicators were collected for three year time-series comparison and for the compared with those of larger province. Conclusions: City health profile comprised of subjective city health indexes and objective city health indicators could successfully be made from primary survey and secondary data in a medium-sized Korean city. That City health profile was useful in subsequent city health planning through participatory process.
Objective: To determine Korean facial profile preferences based on lip position as assessed by Hispanic-Americans of varying western adaptation levels and to determine whether the age and sex of the rater had any influence. Methods: For this study, 132 Hispanic-Americans and 68 Caucasians of varying age, sex and western adaptation levels volunteered to rate their preference of Korean male and female facial silhouettes having lips ranging from retruding to protruding. The Hispanic-Americans were also asked to complete a Bidimensional Acculturation Scale questionnaire to determine their western adaptation status: low-acculturated Hispanics (LAH; lesser western-adapted Hispanic participants) or high-acculturated Hispanics (HAH; higher western-adapted Hispanic participants). Results: The LAHs preferred significantly more retruded lip positions (p < 0.05) while HAHs showed some similarities with Caucasian participants in the results for the Korean male profile, even though HAHs preferred more retruded lip positions for the Korean female profile than Caucasians did (p < 0.05). The age and sex of raters did not influence the preference of facial profiles (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that Hispanic-Americans prefer a flatter Korean lip profile. It would be prudent for orthodontists to offer patients the option of altering lip profile through orthodontic and/or orthognathic surgery treatments.

Low-dislocation-density large-diameter GaAs single crystals with low-residual-strain have been strongly required. We have developed dislocation-free 3-inch Si doped GaAs crystals for photonic devices, and low-dislocation-density low-residual-strain 4-inch to 6-inch semi-insulating GaAs crystals for electronic devices by Vertical Bridgman(VB) technique. We confirmed that VB substrates with low-residual-strain have higher resistance against slip-line generation during MBE process. VB-GaAs single crystals show uniform radial profile of resistivity reflecting to the flat solid-liquid interface during the crystal growth. Uniformity of micro-resistivity of VB-GaAs substrate is much better than of the LEC-GaAs substrate, which is due to the low-dislocation-density of VB-GaAs single crystals.

Low-dislocation-density large-diameter GaAs single crystals with low-residual-strain have been strongly required. We have developed dislocation-free 3-inch Si-doped GaAs crystals for photonic devices [1], and low-dislocation-density low-residual-strain 4-inch to 6-inch [2, 3] semi-insulating GaAs crystals for electronic devices by Vertical Boat (VB) technique. We confirmed that VB substrates with low-residual-strain have higher resistance against slip-line generation during MBE process. Small size and low profile antenna for mobile vehicular-top-mounted is needed in satellite communication services such as DBS, Satellite Internet and VSAT. In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ku-band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 16 leaky-wave elements is showing 30 dBi of gain, 4.9 degree of beamwidth, below than -20 dB of sidelobe level, 45 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.

A simplified approach of assessing torsionally balanced (TB) and torsionally unbalanced (TU) low-medium rise buildings of up to 30 m in height is presented in this paper for regions of low-to-moderate seismicity. The Generalised Force Method of Analysis for TB buildings which is illustrated in the early part of the paper involves calculation of the deflection profile of the building in a 2D analysis in order that a capacity diagram can be constructed to intercept with the acceleration-displacement response spectrum diagram representing seismic actions. This approach of calculation on the planar model of a building which involves applying lateral forces to the building (waiving away the need of a dynamic analysis and yet obtaining similar results) has been adapted for determining the deflection behaviour of a TU building in the later part of the paper. Another key original contribution to knowledge is taking into account the strong dependence of the torsional response behaviour of the building on the periodic properties of the applied excitations in relation to the natural periods of vibration of the building. Many of the trends presented are not reflected in provisions of major codes of practices for the seismic design of buildings. The deflection behaviour of the building in response to displacement controlled (DC) excitations is in stark contrast to behaviour in acceleration controlled (AC), or velocity controlled (VC), conditions, and is much easier to generalise. Although DC conditions are rare with buildings not exceeding 30 m in height displacement estimates based on such conditions can be taken as upper bound estimates in order that a conservative prediction of the displacement profile at the edge of a TU building can be obtained conveniently by the use of a constant amplification factor to scale results from planar analysis.

In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ka band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level the radiation power control using a design method of the different slot width is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 32 leakywave elements is showing 34.4 dBi of gain, 3.6 degree of beamwidth, below than -25 dB of sidelobe level, 43 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency 20.0 GHz. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.

Autoreactive B cells are not entirely deleted, but some remain as immunocompetent or anergic B cells. Although the persistence of autoreactive B cells as anergic cells has been shown in transgenic mouse models with the expression of B cell receptor (BCR) reactive to engineered self-antigen, the characterization of naturally occurring anergic B cells is important to identify them and understand their contribution to immune regulation or autoimmune diseases. We report here that a low-level expression of CD138 in the splenic B cells marks naturally arising anergic B cells, not plasma cells. The CD138int B cells consisted of IgMlowIgDhigh follicular (FO) B cells and transitional 3 B cells in homeostatic conditions. The CD138int FO B cells showed an anergic gene expression profile shared with that of monoclonal anergic B cells expressing engineered BCRs and the gene expression profile was different from those of plasma cells, age-associated B cells, or germinal center B cells. The anergic state of the CD138int FO B cells was confirmed by attenuated Ca2+ response and failure to upregulate CD69 upon BCR engagement with anti-IgM, anti-IgD, anti-Igκ, or anti-IgG. The BCR repertoire of the CD138int FO B cells was distinct from that of the CD138- FO B cells and included some class-switched B cells with low-level somatic mutations. These findings demonstrate the presence of polyclonal anergic B cells in the normal mice that are characterized by low-level expression of CD138, IgM downregulation, reduced Ca2+ and CD69 responses upon BCR engagement, and distinct BCR repertoire.
High power density on-board power supply is implemented by using flat transformer. In the high frequency switching converters, large leakage inductance increases the switching stress and duty cycle loss, which sometimes limits maximum switching frequency. The flat transformer is designed by using special core structure, which has very low profile and low temperature rise since the thermal loading is spread evenly over a larger area. 100W, 3.3V output on board supply is built and tested and 50.7W/$\textrm{inch}^{3}$ power density is achieved.
This paper provides a method for speech detection. After first order FIR filtering on the speech signals, we applied the conventional method of endpoint detection which utilizes the energy as the criterion in separating signals from background noise. By FIR filtering, only the Fourier components with large values of [amplitude x frequency] become significant in energy profile. By applying this procedure to the 445-words database constructed from ETRI, we confirmed that the low-amplitude noise and/or the low-frequency noise are separated clearly from the speech signals, thereby enhancing the feasibility of ideal endpoint detections.
