In recently days using distributed power generation systems constructed with boost type dc-dc converters is being extremely popularized because of the rising need of environment friendly energy generation power systems. In this paper a new constructed An efficient Step-Up DC-DC Converter for DC Grid Applications s proposed to boost a low level DC voltage(36-80V) to high DC bus (380V) level. When comparing to other step-up converters, the proposed topology has a reduced number of switching devices, can make high quality power with lower input current ripple and has wider input DC voltage range. Finally, the performance of the proposed topology is presented by simulation results with 350W hardware prototype.

This study investigates the factors that facilitate or hinder people to use mobile payment, especially drawing upon the theoretical perspectives on individual's privacy protection motivation and perceived market condition. Survey data (n = 200) were collected through a web-based platform and used to test a theoretical model. The results show that one's privacy protection power is formed by various individual and technological factors (i.e., perceived data exposure, self-efficacy, and response efficacy), and in turn it determines his/her intention to use mobile payment. Moreover, the relationship between privacy protection power and mobile payment use is conditional on the perceived market control by the service provider - with a perception of the high level of provider's market control, one uses mobile payment regardless of his/her privacy protection power, while under the low level of provider's market control, the decision depends on the degree of privacy protection power. The findings would help our understanding of why some people are more susceptible to mobile payment and others are not.

Cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters shows a useful circuit configuration to increase the number of output voltage levels to obtain high quality output voltage. By applying the concept of the power of three to dc voltage sources, it can increase the number of output voltage levels effectively. To realize this concept, two approaches may be considered. One is to use independent dc voltage sources pre-scaled in the power of three, and the other is to use instantaneous dc voltage sources generated from a cascaded transformer, which has the secondary turn-ratios scaled in the power of three in sequence. A common feature in both approaches is to use the concept of the power of three for dc voltage sources, and a point of difference is whether it adopts a low frequency transformer or not, and where the transformer is located. According to the difference, application areas are limited and show different characteristics on THD of output voltages. We compare and analyze both approaches for their circuit configurations, voltage level generating method, THD characteristics of output voltage, efficiency, application areas, limitations, and other characteristics by experiments using 500 [W] prototypes when they generate a 27-level output voltage.
In this paper, we investigate the scheduling and power allocation for coordinated multi-point transmission in downlink long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) systems, where orthogonal frequency division multiple-access is used. The proposed scheme jointly optimizes user selection, power allocation, and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection to maximize the weighted sum throughput with fairness consideration. Considering practical constraints in LTE-A systems, the MCSs for the resource blocks assigned to the same user need to be the same. Since the optimization problem is a combinatorial and non-convex one with high complexity, a low-complexity algorithm is proposed by separating the user selection and power allocation into two subproblems. To further simplify the optimization problem for power allocation, the instantaneous signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and the average SINR are adopted to allocate power in a single cell and multiple coordinated cells, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the average system throughput and the cell-edge user throughput significantly compared with the existing schemes with limited feedback.
Modern power systems driven by high-power converters have become inevitable in view of the ever increasing demand for electric power. The total power loss can be reduced by limiting the switching losses in such power converters; increased power efficiency can thus be achieved. A reduced switching frequency that is less than a few hundreds of hertz is applied to power converters that produce output waveforms with high distortion. Selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) is an optimized low switching frequency pulse width modulation method that is based on offline estimation. This method can pre-program the harmonic profile of the output waveform over a range of modulation indices to eliminate low-order harmonics. In this paper, a SHEPWM scheme for three-phase three-leg neutral point clamped inverter is proposed. Aside from eliminating the selected harmonics, the DC capacitor voltages at the DC bus are also balanced because of the symmetrical pulse pattern over a quarter cycle of the period. The technique utilized in the estimation of switching angles involves the firefly algorithm (FA). Compared with other techniques, FA is more robust and entails less computation time. Simulation in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment and experimental verification in the very large scale integration platform with Spartan 6A DSP are performed to prove the validity of the proposed technique.
This paper aims to investigate generation conditions necessary for the most efficient generation by measuring electricity power under various irradiation conditions, since the photovoltaic generation system has high costs and low efficiency. This thesis aims to investigate generation conditions necessary for the most efficient generation by measuring electricity power under various irradiation conditions, since the photovoltaic generation system has high costs and low efficiency. Although the generation power increased with the irradiation, the former did not vary directly as the latter. This meant that the variation of the generation power was concerned in the temperature of a module, the ambient temperature, and the directions of irradiation as well as the irradiation. As for the monthly accumulated irradiation and monthly accumulated power, the maximum irradiation and generation power were observed in May and October and the irradiation, the power and the accumulated generation power were all the highest in spring, followed by fall, summer and winter.

Given their low cost, single rolling piston compressors (SRPC) are utilized in low-power room air-conditioning systems. The SRPC cycle is composed of one compression and discharge process per mechanical rotation. The load torque is high during the compression process of the refrigerants and low during the discharge process of the refrigerants. This load torque variation induces a speed ripple and severe vibration, which cause fatigue failures in the pipes and compressor parts, particularly under low-speed conditions. To reduce the vibration, the compressor usually operates at a high-speed range, where the rotor and piston inertia reduce the vibration. At a low speed, a predefined feed-forward load torque compensator is used to minimize the speed ripple and vibration. However, given that the load torque varies with temperature, pressure, and speed, a predefined load torque table based on one operating condition is not appropriate. This study proposes an online load torque compensator for SRPC. The proposed method utilizes the speed ripple as a load torque ripple factor. The speed ripple is transformed into a frequency domain and compensates each frequency harmonic term in an independent feed-forward manner. Experimental results are presented to verify the proposed method.
The mmWave cell-free massive MIMO (CFmMIMO), combining the advantages of wide bandwidth in the mmWave frequency band and the high- and uniform-spectral efficiency of CFmMIMO, has recently emerged as one of the enabling technologies for 6G. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for energy-efficient mmWave CFmMIMO systems that uses low-resolution digital-analog converters (DACs) and phase shifters (PSs) to introduce lowcomplexity hybrid precoding. Additionally, we propose a heuristic pilot allocation scheme that makes the best effort to slash some interference from copilot users. The simulation results show that the proposed hybrid precoding and pilot allocation scheme outperforms the existing schemes. Furthermore, we reveal the relationship between the energy and spectral efficiencies for the proposed mmWave CFmMIMO system by modeling the whole network power consumption and observe that the introduction of low-resolution DACs and PSs is effective in increasing the energy efficiency by compromising the spectral efficiency and the network power consumption.
This paper proposes an input-series-output-parallel connected ZVS full bridge converter with interleaved control for photovoltaic power conditioning systems (PV PCS). The input-series connection enables a fully modular power-system architecture, where low voltage and standard power modules can be connected in any combination at the input and/or at the output, to realize any given specifications. Further, the input-series connection enables the use of low-voltage MOSFETs that are optimized for a very low RDSON, thus, resulting in lower conduction losses. The system costs decrease due to the reduced current, and the volumes of the output filters due to the interleaving technique. A topology for a photovoltaic (PV) dc/dc converter that can dramatically reduce the power rating and increase the efficiency of a PV system by analyzing the PV module characteristics is proposed. The control scheme, consisting of an output voltage loop, a current loop and input voltage balancing loops, is proposed to achieve input voltage sharing and output current sharing. The total PV system is implemented for a 10-kW PV power conditioning system (PCS). This system has a dc/dc converter with a 3.6-kW power rating. It is only one-third of the total PV PCS power. A 3.6-kW prototype PV dc/dc converter is introduced to experimentally verify the proposed topology. In addition, experimental results show that the proposed topology exhibits good performance.
Advanced mobile communication devices require a bright, high information content display in a small, light-weight, low power consumption package. For portable applications flexible (or conformable) and rugged displays will be the future. In this paper we outline our progress towards developing such a low power consumption active-matrix flexible OLED $(FOLED^{TM})$ display. We demonstrate full color 100 ppi QVGA active matrix OLED displays on flexible stainless steel substrates. Our work in this area is focused on integrating three critical enabling technologies. The first technology component is based on UDC's high efficiency long-lived phosphorescent OLED $(PHOLED^{TM})$ device technology, which has now been commercially demonstrated as meeting the low power consumption performance requirements for mobile display applications. Secondly, is the development of flexible active-matrix backplanes, and for this our team are employing PARC's Excimer Laser Annealed (ELA) poly-Si TFTs formed on metal foil substrates as this approach represents an attractive alternative to fabricating poly-Si TFTs on plastic for the realization of first generation flexible active matrix OLED displays. Unlike most plastics, metal foil substrates can withstand a large thermal load and do not require a moisture and oxygen permeation barrier. Thirdly, the key to reliable operation is to ensure that the organic materials are fully encapsulated in a package designed for repetitive flexing, and in this device we employ a multilayer thin film Barix encapsulation technology in collaboration with Vitex systems. Drive electronics and mechanical packaging are provided by L3 Displays.
